I have been absent, but a lovely nod to CAM with the camels.

I was out at my local shopping centre today and lo and behold there was an Usborne book seller with a 'pop up shop' It is under cover and it is fairly usual to have little stalls for a day or so. There was a book called 'That's not my dream job' I really really wanted to have a look inside, but I knew she would then just pounce of me and try and sell me 'an amazing opportunity' Obviously Usbourne books are lovely, but you can go to any supermarket and buy the majority of them half price, or even the likes of WHSmiths they are are often in there buy one get one half price deal, so I am not sure there is a huge target market.

Ah Yes - Usborne. The 'Books are a good thing' market.

Toobusytowee · 29/09/2016 23:05

Eyes has an idea. In order to bring down MLMs or at least severely restrict them, we need to involve the right government department. He has identified the CMA (Competition and Marketing Authority) as the best department able to take on this task. In order for them to take an interest, they need to hear from concerned people.

If you have a few moments, please will you fill in their complaints form? Identify what it is about MLMs that concern you, mention any personal experience and please spread the word about it. Ideally, a few hundred complaints need to be sent in.

Here is their complaint form www.gov.uk/government/publications/report-anti-competitive-or-market-issues-to-the-cma

I have put the link and some further info from the CMA website on Bot Watch FB.

Please take the time to fill the form in. We can only do so much by raising awareness, let's get the authorities in.

cozietoesie · 29/09/2016 23:09

Thank you Toobusy.

Ladiva1971 · 30/09/2016 02:05

Toobusytowee · 30/09/2016 07:54

Yes Ladiva, it is.

Spongebobette · 30/09/2016 11:05

ArbunneHun · 30/09/2016 17:18

Anyone on Twitter? Timeless Vie have discovered that the Uni of B'ham has invited an Arbonne rep to speak to students as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. All hands on (tweet)deck to express our concern and get them uninvited!

Spongebobette · 30/09/2016 17:33

Oh, yuk.

Spongebobette · 30/09/2016 21:29

Oh FFS I've found the young woman in question on FB and there's a video with her talking about how she's been asked to go along and 'inspire' others
She sounds absolutely ridiculous and everything she says is so trite, I think it would be embarrassing to put her in front of a group of people at a university

Spongebobette · 30/09/2016 21:30

It's just facile

Spongebobette · 30/09/2016 23:02

No, I do not want to come to this 'retail therapy afternoon'
Imagine paying a fiver for the privilege of being hunned to death by bots

keeptheaspidistra · 01/10/2016 09:22

I'd have to pay a fiver to go and pay for things!?!

keeptheaspidistra · 01/10/2016 09:30

sponge when I thought nothing could be more irritating than eeeeeek I had yet to discover eeeeeep Hmm

Spongebobette · 01/10/2016 10:15

Oh not just pay to buy things. Aspidistra

Pay to walk into a room full of MLM bots who are looking for recruits

keeptheaspidistra · 01/10/2016 10:25

I'd happily pay to avoid such a scenario. I think these people at seriously deluded to think there us such a high demand in the market that people would pay to go. That's got to be a tumbleweed event

keeptheaspidistra · 01/10/2016 10:33

I'm a member of a beauty group on Facebook; admin posted yesterday reiterating rules that any mlm reference at all was a big no no. The post got a lot of support because people don't want these products. They are bored of the spam and lies. I really don't know how anyone thinking of joining these schemes can honestly believe there will be a customer base.

Spongebobette · 01/10/2016 10:41

Gloss?

Spongebobette · 01/10/2016 10:45

Imagine if you were the only person to go to that Retail Therapy Afternoon. You'd be eaten alive

cozietoesie · 01/10/2016 18:09

People often go from 'obligation', keep. Because it's a 'friend' or something.

smiinky · 02/10/2016 14:04

I hate that 'obligation' thing, I've just blocked two friends pages, it just makes me feel dead uncomfortable. I don't want to know about your business opportunity.
