A friend has sent me this link to one of the UNO products. At first watch, it's amusing and back in the day would probably appear on Tarrant on TV (anyone remember that?) but actually, it's demographic targeting once again.
Even though it's in Tagalog with a little English it's easy enough to follow.
Many of the (very young, very pretty) Filipina women working here earn the equivalent of 80 pounds a month, most of which is sent back to support their families. Finding an older (not necessarily Filipino) husband is their aim or alternatively earning money to support those back home.
For many of the men here, finding a young pretty obliging wife is theirs.
Although I was told by a contact (who is advertised as a "top earner" and is headlining a "mini sizzle" next week) made through a friend that I could earn lots of money and me and my family could be sponsored by the company (thankfully not necessary - my husband's JOB does that as would one I took in the city in my area of expertise) that in, Judge Judy terms, is baloney.
She is now desperately trying to recruit me into her down line. It's a shame several of her non UNO inspirational FB posts show her working at a shoe shop in a mall.
I'm actually finding it so heartbreaking; and I'm not sure how long I can play along with it to find out more. Thankfully I seem to have shaken off the English/Filipino/Czech/Ghanian person(s) who were calling. One mention of the word "pyramid" and they've stopped.
