It happens.

Do you really wish to keep the friendship going, though?

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 21:59

We aren't super close but I've known her a long time. I hate to see what she's turned into.

cozietoesie · 26/07/2016 22:31

My very personal view - and it really is personal - is that you sometimes have to recognise that you can't help someone and might even have to withdraw from them if their situation or behaviour is affecting you adversely. No guilt involved.

Your call though. Even though her presence in your life again is depressing you.

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 22:36

I know that you are right Cozie. I need to let go.

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 22:45

Have on' you Cozie, sorry for all the typos I'm on my phone

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 22:46

Pm'd. FFS

Delurker2016 · 26/07/2016 22:49

There is nothing you can do, my friends let go of me and just hoped I would return, the day I reached out to one of them she was sat in my house the following day begging me to get out as she was scared for me.

Luckily I have good friends who can now laugh at my ridiculousness and my mindset bollocks, and now I can laugh along. You don't and can't see it until you leave. But it is all bullshit. All of it.

They're not friends, they tolerate each other. If only I could expose all the conversations I had with people, blimey it would bring the 'family' crumbling to its knees.

Let her go, she'll see it soon enough.

cozietoesie · 26/07/2016 22:55

I'm sorry, Sponge, but you'll recall that I don't respond to PMs on this topic. Nothing personal of course. Smile

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 22:56

No prob

cozietoesie · 26/07/2016 22:58

It's good to get that 'insider' perspective, Delurker. Smile

Delurker2016 · 26/07/2016 23:08

Honestly no point worrying about her, when you're sucked in you can't see anything else. They are all that matters to you, it's like being dependant on them. Scary stuff.

Spongebobette · 26/07/2016 23:09

Thanks Delurker. Xx

cozietoesie · 26/07/2016 23:10

Could you see much when you were deep in?

WindyTriller · 26/07/2016 23:47

Just wanted to post a quick message to update you all and to say thank you...

I am now officially free from being part of an MLM! I posted a while back asking for advice on Body Shop at home and whether I should push on with sales or let it fizzle out.

After reading all your responses and reading up on other MLMs I let it fizzle out and my account is closed. I submitted my tax return (small profit) and am just in the process of selling off all my stock (quite successfully!)

I have "unliked" all of my FB friends MLM pages for various "businesses" and removed myself from groups. It feels AMAZING!

Thanks all of you as without these threads I'd still be plugging away.

cozietoesie · 26/07/2016 23:50

Do you feel 'lighter' now ? Smile

Toobusytowee · 27/07/2016 00:24

Congratulations Windy! It will be interesting for us to hear about what happens now to your MLM 'family' and how day to day life seems now. By all accounts it will be amazing for you to just be yourself again and not keep up the fake persona and trying to plug away all the time.

CamelsAndMaus · 27/07/2016 07:23

The "Board of Directors" are now in Hong Kong. Do they dance/sing/strip ?

If anyone has any journalistic contacts I'd appreciate a PM.

My sister is getting into some jewellery thing called Valentina. Is it an MLM?

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 27/07/2016 08:12

Nicola Briggs is Executive Director at Valentina. It is launching in the UK very soon. Here is a screenshot fromLinkedin. Yes, it is being run as an MLM company.

DerelictMyBalls · 27/07/2016 08:15

Oh dear, thank you. MyCats - not sure what to say to her, don't want to piss on her chips.

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 27/07/2016 08:17

According to her Valentina fb page, she also does FL Hmm, and is a "Global Mumpreneur".

DerelictMyBalls · 27/07/2016 08:34

Apparently she has not had to give them any money, they gave her the starter kit for free, which sounds fishy to me...

WindyTriller · 27/07/2016 08:35

Cozie & TooBusy yes I do feel lighter but there's no change with my MLM family as I didn't get involved with anyone else in Body Shop at Home so I just deleted myself from the FB group and nobody noticed!

DerelictMyBalls · 27/07/2016 08:46

Oh hang on... Her 'supervisor' (aunt's best friends daughter) has given her the starter kit.

Annie65 · 27/07/2016 10:04

Mycats, looks like she is getting shit from Fl too, even though she says she is not leaving. Hmm all this will put a lot of people off from joining. They are doing our job for us Wink
