If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

I have looked at the website and the products. It's all awful. And MSE shut down that thread in seconds which IMHO was a very good call.

throwingpebbles · 11/04/2016 07:57

Me too melaw

throwingpebbles · 11/04/2016 08:05

Some serious odd stuff on this page lifetreeworld.com/product/catproduct/14

For breakfast hamper - yazoo, Capri suns, dolmio and condensed milk. yummm.

Also check out to holiday hampers and how much you are expected to spend!!

Finally ....watch out Forever Living, LTW sell aloe too...

throwingpebbles · 11/04/2016 08:06

You couldn't do all your shop for there unless you were truly desperate so you would have to do normal shops as well.

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 08:29

Just how do you get a £200 or £750 monthly bonus ?

darceybussell · 11/04/2016 08:32

To me LTW seems MORE like a pyramid scheme than the others. Correct me if I'm wrong lifetree but none of you seem to be out there trying to flog boxes of cereal to the public. They are not even trying to pretend that there is selling going on, it's all about spending your own money and recruiting others to spend their own money.

I think the law says that it is illegal 'to persuade anyone to make a payment by promising benefits from getting others to join a scheme.' This to me seems the closest to that definition of any of the MLMs we have seen.

throwingpebbles · 11/04/2016 08:37

I agree darcey

Toobusytowee · 11/04/2016 09:01

I think you could well be right there Darcey. This needs reporting to the authorities.

So Lifetreeworld, here are the questions that have been put to you that need answering please-

  1. What do you have to do to get a bonus?
  1. Why can't we find a price list anywhere? We suspect it is because the prices are high.
  1. Have you read the links that Throwing provided? What do you think of them?
  1. Why is the 'opportunity' so vaguely covered on the website?

And an extra question-

  1. What made you join if the spelling and appearance of the page was so bad? Did this not ring alarm bells that it might not be a slick, professional, trustworthy scheme?

Oh, one more..

  1. Please can you take a few screengrabs of the catalogue showing prices of items?

Thank you.

stopfaffing · 11/04/2016 09:02

Hi life welcome to the thread, we promise not to eat you Grin.

I have had a look at the website and yes, it is awful. Not only are there no prices for these hampers, the items included (in the breakfast one, for example) are an odd mix, to say the least.

I have to confess too that I have dabbled with on-line grocery shopping briefly but found it wanting. The supermarket would substitute an item not available with something else, or nothing at all. Neither option was acceptable to me (I'm fussy) and I realised that I prefer to shop in person so I can select exactly what I want (and check the use by dates of course Grin).

Life can you please describe the delivery service and tell me the charges (or point me to the link that will explain it).

The items I have so far seen available on LTW are all brand name bottles, tins, packets. No fresh stuff (fruit, veg, meat, cheese, fish, etc), no frozen either (e.g. ice cream).

I buy a lot of fresh stuff so if I signed up for LTW I would have to shop for that anyway and I imagine that most people who have signed up for LTW do the the same. Do you, Life? It seems unwieldy to have to do two shops, one at local supermarket and another one with LTW. I can foresee spending MORE money being part of this scheme, not less, particularly as you have a minimum spend per month to qualify for commission and bonuses. Do you find yourself buying brand stuff you don't need in order to make up your monthly 'spend' requirements, Life?

However, LTW operates as a multi level marketing scheme so the real money is made, not from products but from recruitment of others who recruit others et al. When MLM is involved, most people involved lose money, Life. If you spend a bit more time here and read the links on our Timeless Vie website, you will see overwhelming evidence of this fact.

Thanks for coming on here to talk about your experience.

Melaw21 · 11/04/2016 09:04

Agreed Darcey this looks so dodgy! Welcome lifetree appreciate your post, but I think you should look much deeper with your research, have you read through all the threads here? (Big ask I know, but in your case it may be wise) please do not take this so called 'opportunity' at face value, as it really does appear to have all the hallmarks of a pyramid scheme....

There are many wise and helpful people here, who will be more than happy to assist you in looking deeper. 😊

NorbertDentressangle · 11/04/2016 09:07

Also with LTW it's not as though you even get something that isn't available elsewhere - they're all known brands available everywhere else (probably cheaper or part of offers too!)

At least with all the FLP, JP, Scentsy etc the product you buy is supposedly not available in the high street (OK I realise it is in a way and for cheaper eg. aloe gel in Holland and Barrett but you know what I mean).

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 09:17

I'm keeping my eyes off the wampum. Lots of pretty pictures sure but.......

For me, the critical thing is just how you make any money from it and the time and expense that's involved in doing that? It doesn't look good so far.

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 09:29

I'm just waiting for a major diversification on the part of one prominent MLM. I'm thinking of something like 'cryogenic suspension'? You know - suspended for eternity in a vat of gloop? Wink

stopfaffing · 11/04/2016 09:33

Found this website which explains the pyramid scheme in more detail.

Toobusytowee · 11/04/2016 09:34

Miss, thanks for finding that out! I hope you don't get loads of follow up emails now.

stopfaffing · 11/04/2016 09:40

Whoa, look at this little gem Shock! Sign me up NOW!!!!! swoons when realising an Amway bot is involved in this scheme

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 09:47

So how much do you have to spend to make this lower level bonus amount?

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 10:00

Sorry - that would be without the 'referrals' of course.

throwingpebbles · 11/04/2016 10:09

love it stopfaffing

so to summarise, the life tree world website explains that ...

  • MLMs don't work because to disguise the fact they are pyramid schemes they pretended you needed customers but everyone could see the wampum was unsellable ....
  • we realised that the only people who ever make money in a pyramid scheme are the founders (sexy rexy et al) so we have founded our own and cheekily decided to do away with the whole pesky 'retailing to lend the thing legitimacy' side of things

sorry my laptop key went funny!! (probably in despair)

Twunk · 11/04/2016 10:11

An average Tesco store, for example, has around 40,000 different products.

1500 or even 5000 doesn't cover much.

cozietoesie · 11/04/2016 10:28

I'm struggling to see any real difference between this and the 'system' presented in that famous - if painful - Dragon's Den offering from - America or Canada was it?

NorbertDentressangle · 11/04/2016 10:32

So you're expected to live on a range of 1500 products , products that they presumably acquire because they are sourced cheaply by LTW?

So, looking at their website, that's pasta and yazoo for breakfast washed down with a Capri Sun followed by baked beans, another Yazoo and some tomato puree for lunch and then Maryland cookies and Rubicon for dinner.

Don't worry about malnutrition though as you'll be minty fresh with toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash and your bog will be sparkling! Hmm
