My suspicion is that some of the people that seemingly do so 'well' have sold their modest but unimpressive properties, and are using that money to rent somewhere fancy and pay for all the other trappings of 'success'. They're faking it till they make it, but when they never make it and the money runs out, what then?

stopfaffing · 12/03/2016 10:03

This is like watching a slow motion car crash...

Spot on stopfaff

cozietoesie · 12/03/2016 10:11

Where does any money actually come from, kamchatka ? That's a question they never seem to ask themselves.

I don't think they think things through that well, it probably goes against the Law of Attraction or something.

They remind me of pop stars (rap artists), first album does really well, but instead of building up some savings they flash it around - get a fancy rental with a pool, big car, designer wardrobe. Then the band splits up, solo album flops and before you know it they've racked up a load of debt and the fake lifestyle is gone in a puff of smoke.
Steve Strange shoplifting, David Van Days burger van. At the other extreme, Michael Jackson and Kanye West having billionaire lifestyles but millionaire income and racking up crazy debts.
Hell we even have this in my own family on the posh side when DP's cousin started thinking he was a billionaire like the twats he plays polo with (poor fucker was only a millionaire) he ended up in prison with a few million quid of debt. When I'd have been pretty happy with a mortgage free two million quid apartment, it wasn't enough for him. Some people....

cozietoesie · 12/03/2016 12:27

Could someone explain to me what the appeal of arrant 'lifestyle emulation' is ? This is a genuine question because it seems to be a big thing in MLMs and I've never understood its draw fully. (I'll often think to myself 'Oh, that's a good idea, I might try that.' But aping someone's lifestyle? I don't deep-down get it.)

she was A LOT better off before, if you're rent free that's when you start building a big residual income NOT when you're spunking nearly four grand a month on a pretend castle. But it just doesn't look as flash, does it?

Tupperwarelid · 12/03/2016 12:59

She has been in the business just over 2 years now so it will be interesting to see how she reduces her working hours over the next few months

stopfaffing · 12/03/2016 12:59

D'you think it's helping her cause to tell everyone all that stuff? How will her Canadian downline react, d'you think? Perhaps they'll lap it up and ignore the warning bells tinkling in the background. After all, that is exactly why MLM companies are so successful, they persuade their followers to suppress their natural instinct to question stuff that is, quite frankly, suspicious. Any bots reading this, WAKE UP! You are bring misled, please stop the insane behaviour on your social media, it's crazy!

HustleVandango · 12/03/2016 13:00

Lurker here. State of this though. I found it on the pavement on my way to the shops so binned it. Today it was back again, like it had climbed out of the bin of it's own free will. I brought it home to take a photo for you and then I'm getting it blessed by a priest and humanely destroyed. It's Forever of course, on the back it is listed as an ethical company. :(

Out of interest, when you were deep in thrall, did you ever wake up in the middle the night and panic?
