I have been lurking with interest after seeing several friends get sucked into these scams Angry. Same story, new parents on maternity and cost of living round here is sky high.

Apologies if this has been posted already but I was shown this short film called Grand Zero on Vimeo: vimeo.com/106241499. A family man returns to his hometown to discover he's the last person in town who's not part of a legendary pyramid scheme. And everyone - EVERYONE- wants him in. Its only short and I enjoyed it.

It was linked in a fairly new subreddit called exmlm, hopefully the will grow members and awareness of these scams too.

crazycatlady the suggestion that you should clean toilets amused me. I'd happily clean toilets, infact I've done it as a volunteer.
My gran died 3 years ago, she left three properties and £50k. All of the money to buy those houses (and uhm create residual income) and build up those savings came from.........cleaning toilets.
#aloeshite won't give you residual income, cleaning toilets and saving, might.

cozietoesie · 07/02/2016 11:12

That was quite fun, Flora. Smile (Albeit in a rather horrid way. )

FleeBee · 07/02/2016 11:15

Interesting about the cleaning toilets. My friend has a cleaner, who accidentally broke something I had bought my friend as a gift. Clearer messaged me on Facebook about replacing it. I ordered a new one & cleaner collected it & gave me the money for the replacement.
About 6 months later the cleaner has stopped the cleaning business (that she owned & I think she had 3 cleaners working for her). She's now runs a business coaching & mentoring others through / you've guessed it - FL! I now get several messages & requests to like her business page!! Our only connection is the broken gift which must have been 12 months ago.
My friend was a bit surprised as she was a great cleaner (accidental breakage aside - but that was dealt with efficiently & professionally) so why chuck away a reliable job for the fakery of Bot-worship?
She LOVES EC & LG

Maybe the best way to get rid of these people is to send them a link to Timeless Vie and say you're selling Extract de Parslai.

cozietoesie · 07/02/2016 11:22

You might have something there, sminky.

stopfaffing · 07/02/2016 11:23

crazy, there is nothing demeaning about cleaning toilets, it gives me great pleasure to visit a public loo in my home town that is beautifully clean and fresh, with vases of flowers and hand cream. The comment book is full of praise too. I have never met who is responsible but they do an admirable job.

I would be happy to earn money doing the same rather than scam, lie and abuse friendships and family any day.

sminkypink · 07/02/2016 11:32

The, 'like and share my page,' 'would you do this survey?' 'Could I just pop this on your Facebook page as a favour.' 'I'm new at this can I practise my presentation on you?' 'Can I give you a basket of #aloeshite to try.
This is all cold prespecting activity, don't ever, ever say yes to this, as they will never leave you alone. They will pester you again and again.
Remember what Mr Worre says, it can take ten hasslings to break someone. (Well he didn't really say that, but that's what he means).

MrGrumpy01 · 07/02/2016 11:36

cat that is so sad and horrible.

It is a funny mindset some of them have, so quick to be rude and disparing towards anyone who dares to have has a job but happily partaking of the services offered. CS springs to mind, talks about school and going to a&e but in the same breath/post basically calls us all fools for not being at home being a #bossbabe.

cozietoesie · 07/02/2016 11:37

Yes. You do have to wonder how many products are sold due to sheer exhaustion/ desperation on the part of the purchaser. I have this vision of people hiding in their own homes from former friends.

Anyone leaving a cult is a threat to the remaining members. Whilst they may be demonised or labelled a loser, it plants a doubt in the stayers. It is essential that they are labelled as stupid and lazy because if not, why did they leave? Why did they 'get their mind back?'

Traged · 07/02/2016 11:46

I've heard it before and I think it has been said on these threads but leaving a cult really is like leaving an abusive relationship. Sunk cost fallacy amongst other things.

Cube, what is your perception of how pp who quit were treated/spoken of?

Surely abusive messages were not encouraged? I would have guessed that they were not spoken about/treated as non-persons?

throwingpebbles · 07/02/2016 11:47

I agree, nothing at all wrong with cleaning toilets. I think everyone should take pride in doing a job unless it is peddling overpriced crap on the basis of medical lies

stopfaffing · 07/02/2016 11:49

I am going to start thread 6.

stopfaffing · 07/02/2016 11:51

Thread SIX

sminkypink · 07/02/2016 11:58

heres more chilling prose from Mr Worre, prospects are stupid, they only object to your scammy cult to make themselves seem intelligent. Prospects are blind. This is all so devious.

MrGrumpy01 · 07/02/2016 12:45

It's all getting a bit biblical-like, 'helping the blind to see' This could resonance particularly with those in the 'bible belt' and make it seem familiar and therefore safe.
