Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

The letter I've had was to do with my claim, their think someone is living with me. I've rang to check who system always down. I'm sure it's the ex as his car is registered to my address. But I pay for it. Like every single thing that has gone wrong on the rust bucket and my bank statements prove I pay for everything. I've even included ex bank account that the insurance comes out of to prove I'm the only one paying into his account and the only bill coming out is the direct debit for insurance. It's a spare account her has that is only used for me to pay insurance. He days for his kids but he just pays what he can afford some months ill get £20 some months ill get £500 it all depends on how much work he has on. He's a good day and after years of fighting we have a good agreement now. When I got my new job I needed a car - was a condition of the job offer, plus our oldest was starting big school 45 min away so he said I could have the car as long as I payed the bills on it. I got turn down for finance! He has a works van plus 2 other cars in his household he can use and to be truthful I think I Did him the biggest favor of the year agreeing to take it on! Lol. I only get about 45 a week tax credit now as I have a good job now and I'm just not going to keep taking from the system anymore. I'm sick of the hassle and I can cope without it to be fair. I've had a lot out of it in the past but when I wasn't working or on hard times and I'm not anymore. I don't even think it'll be around for much longer any way. Must admit ill miss the free dental thou

woodly2013 · 20/06/2016 17:51

Hi Kk88 I do feel for you and the hassle it has caused and is still causing. You sound like you know where you are and where things are up to. I've claimed for three years since I separated and this is my first experience of the compliance check and I couldn't manage without tax credits. I work part time and I'm disabled which affects my employment opportunities to move elsewhere and the number of hours I can work. I am glad to hear your job has worked out well and you can see yourself self supporting without the need of tax credits, but don't forget £45 per week is quite alot and as you say the added extras such as dental and prescriptions can also mount up. See what response you get from your letter and take it from there. I just don't want you to feel you shouldn't claim and lose out your entitlement because of their bullying methods. Best wishes x

Kk have you sent in evidence yet? I would refuse until they gave the name, this is what is scaring people. I would ring every day until i got the link to name then i could defend myself.
It might not be the car, might be a previous tennant or such.

Blabla85 · 20/06/2016 18:26

I find it really odd that some people get told a name and some people they refuse to tell the name , just shows it depends how nice the person is at the other end of the phone

Kk88 · 20/06/2016 20:14

Hi user, I'm sure thy have no evidence! As I've check credit report and not linked to any one. I've sent it in and explain my situation and sent all my bills and bank statements plus ex bank statement that is used for car insurance. I just want it done and dealt with. Was speaking to a mum at the school about it today and she went oh I had one of them and thought I was screwed their was loads of ex bills coming to her address. She got him to ring up and change his address then sent the info back and she got a letter back saying thank you and that the investigation was closed! I was like I thought that would make her look quilty and she said it was fine

user1466095920 · 20/06/2016 20:33

What info did she send back?
Im sure they have nothing, it is a huge fishing exercise, scare tactics, designed to get people panicking and phoning up or writing evidence which implicates them. Do not do theyre job for them, send only what is asked. Hopefully you get good news kk

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 09:44

Youknowwhattodo and 1971Loulou was just wondering if you have heard anything back yet as you sent documents before me. I sent mine on 7th and received back on 13th June but still no decision letter yet. Trying to decide if I should phone and ask for an update or not. Any advice anybody, this is still driving me mad and can safely say worse 3 half weeks of my life.

youknowwhattodo · 21/06/2016 10:07

Still not heard back. I received documents back around 4 weeks ago but it has been 9 weeks since first letter. I have rang and apparently they are receiving too many documents back that they cant keep up as thy don't have the staff. I spoke to a nice man who made a note of mine and was going to try and get it done asap. It has been a week since that conversation. I just wwnt to know as i am expecting an over payment. Was your letter about childcare and how long have u been waiting

youknowwhattodo · 21/06/2016 10:09

Sorry just noticed when you sent yours. I will let you know if/when i hear back x

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 10:34

Youknowwhat my letter was we have information another adult may be at your address and they wanted copies of household bills for a year and bank statements divorce/seperation papers and tenancy agreement. Phoned and was told my ex husband had him mobile agreement still at this address. When I checked with my ex he still had quite a lot of things at my address as he said when he went paperless with everything he forgot to change address. He has since changed everything and feels bad it has put me in this position but its too late now. Also he does call a few nights a week to put our dd to bed after work so I'm worried how this looks to others. I am not willing to stop access as we tried for our daughter for 16 years and had 6 years of ivf to get her although it was the eventual cause of our break up.

youknowwhattodo · 21/06/2016 10:42

There a quite a few who have had that letter. It is ridiculous, they seem to think you should have nothing to do with ex even though you have children together. Please try to not worry about i know its easier said than done but i think they are sending these letters out a lot x

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 10:59

Youknowwhattodo thank so much for advice, really helps being able to talk about things. Hope you get some good news soon and the kind man you spoke to keeps his word x

Blabla85 · 21/06/2016 13:43

All posted today! going to be a long few weeks x

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 14:23

Blabla hopefully your cover letter should clear up this misunderstanding for you quickly and they don't keep you waiting too long. At the minute every day feels like a week for me and its 2 weeks since I sent mine x

Just came across this, interesting reading.

user1465562572 · 21/06/2016 16:25

Well I have an update from my complaint from hmrc they phoned me today, as I rang them up and complained, they said they can't help, I need to speak to Concentrix. I asked why I was a target and he said that's all he could say to me. I told him I had a IUC and I had found a legal representative and again, he couldn't comment or advise, just kept referring me to Concentrix he said there are only a certain amount of things he could say to me on the phone.

So I'm non the wiser, and talking to Concentrix is like talking to a brick wall. They have me down as one of their numbers of LAHAW stupid fools. All this money being wasted, when I'm innocent. I'm dreading this interview though 😞

user1465562572 · 21/06/2016 16:31

Loulabelle- thanks for the link but it's 2013 so could be out of date anyway.
My ex wouldn't provide his bank statements - his argument is he's not their customer. He doesn't have to I guess I can't force him

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 16:35

User I seen somewhere earlier on this thread that someone had phoned Concentrix to make an official complaint and where put through to a special department that allocated her a case worker resulting in case being sorted and closed within a month. It's a long shot but worth a try. Sorry I can't remember who it was but definitely read this x

user1465562572 · 21/06/2016 16:58

Oh really , I've not pushed that hard to be honest, I have to go to this stupid IUC because they have reason to believe I either have my ex here or live with the previously deceased. They best not bring up her name, and ask me to 'prove' she's deceased I won't put it past them, I'd have to refer them to the estate agency but no doubt they will get me to do the chasing.

woodly2013 · 21/06/2016 17:21

Hi user146, I am glad you have legal representation for the IUC. Do you have a letter explaining what they are specifically accusing you of and what evidence they think they hold? Your ex's bank statements (he is right) are non of their business. The claim is yours not his and whilst your relationship status with him is that of an ex partner,he is still co-parent to your child/ren and as such you still have contact and financial ties. You are able and willing to adhere to their information and evidence requests based on what you have or is reasonable for you to obtain or provide. All very amenable. When is the IUC? If the information they have given you is vague, can you request it and ask for IUC to be put back until time to consider? Or if you feel you don't have all the information even though you have already asked, you could do a SAR(subject access request) under freedom of information act directly to them asking for ALL information held electronically and clerically, by law they have 40days to respond. Again if you need to take this route, can the IUC be postponed? Ask your legal rep who may be able to advise. I submitted a SAR with my original complaint to HMRC on 19/5 and today received a text to say it is being dealt with. I do feel for you and this situation, messaging can be very difficult to get points across and exactly what we would like to say in trying to understand circumstances and offer advice. But help and support is here in the best way we can give it. Sending you a very big supportive hug x

Grace1994 · 21/06/2016 17:29

User why have they decided to interview you? What do they have and why wasn't your evidence sufficient?

I posted mine on Friday, I am convinced they are going to pick at the fact I have paid cash into my account, mainly from my mum bailing me out and paying off my overdraft but I've had money I've paid in that I've got for my birthday and also cash what my friends have owed me from buying event tickets on my card. It's all explainable but I know it's going to be a long battle with them.

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 20:10

User I found that earlier post I was talking about. I was wrong it was actually Hmrc she asked for complaints department and was put through to extra support and allocated a case worker who sorted things for her within a month. The only thing this was about a year ago so maybe procedures have changed. Won't let me copy and paste the link but search for Concentric complaint & compensation it is 4 pages long and the name of the girl is S4rie. Morgan also has posted on the same thread so maybe remembers it.

Louby76 · 21/06/2016 21:12

Hi, I had all of this last year & what a complete night mare it was, I was accused of having someone living with me when I've not lived with anyone in 10years! I had to send in a years worth of bank/credit card statements, utility bills & all the rest of it. Was dreading getting another one this year however I've had the "you don't need to do anything" letter this year. Anyway just wanted to try to offer some reassurance to some of you, it is a worrying time, I lost a lot of sleep over this letter but if you are living alone then it will all work out ok. I personally think they pick out random people to do their checks on & for the genuine ones it really is a stressful worrying time. For me I would say from receiving the letter, sending it all in & hearing back probably took a couple of months in total. Hope this helps some of you! xx

Loulabell09 · 21/06/2016 21:42

Louby thanks so much for letting us know how things went for you, it is reassuring to hear something positive. Lost so much sleep and weight over this it's unrea, think that's why I'm thinking worse case scenario for everything cause I'm so tired and over thinking things instead of being rational. You just read so many awful stories of what others are being put through x

Louby76 · 21/06/2016 22:12

Loulabell09 I honestly know what you are going through its horrendous. I haven't been on here since that was going on but I thought I'd have a look & see if they were doing the same thing again this year! Low & behold it's happening all over again. Please try not to worry too much, I know that's easy for other people to say I was exactly the same as you but it all came good in the end. They've got nothing on you & I don't know why they feel the need to send out such awful letters. The company should be ashamed of themselves for putting families through this. X
