Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

Thats it woodly, not all people on here are aware of what you can and cant do, they keep rules clouded and under wraps so ppl will panic. I think the linked to letter is sent to see if that person is contributing or linked in any way, also to have a good snoop but please be aware family arranged maintenance is allowed, it is against the law for an ex partner not to pay for theyre children. These people employed at concentrix are clueless to the facts and laws, call centre staff with very little training.

woodly2013 · 19/06/2016 20:58

Here here! Knowing Government processes they are usually only provided with a script. If you deviate from that they cannot respond. I wonder if that prompts the 'systems are down' response and you'll have to write it, call back, speak to HMRC? I wouldn't be surprised.

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 19/06/2016 21:11

I've just realised I've also got a couple of payments from my sister paid into my account in December. She transferred money so I could pick up some shopping for my mum as I have a car and they don't. My mum has been getting treatment for cancer since last year so just trying to help. I didn't explain these to Concentrix as I didn't even think about it! It's definitely not a regular thing. She does have the same surname as me though so it's clear that it is a family member and not some secret man helping me out!!

user1466095920 · 19/06/2016 21:19

Allgood i wouldnt worry about that, its easily explained, this isnt against the law and families do help eachother out. I wouldnt give too much info, keep contact short. I know what its like to try and remember where every little penny came from and went to, its enough to drive you insane. Good luck with your case hun x

woodly2013 · 19/06/2016 21:26

I agree. Respond with what they ask for and let them take it from there. Best wishes

user1465562572 · 19/06/2016 21:34

Woodley they have made me paranoid. Everywhere I look or turn hmrc or Concentrix and following me like the Angel in Disguise.

Blabla85 · 19/06/2016 21:35

My friend finally got printer ink! My letter can be sent off on tues at last! Plan to keep cover letter short and sweet! Just sending brother birth certificates and proof all bills are in mum name , hoping this will be enough , can't believe I am having to prove I am not in relationship with my brother x

Morgani97 · 19/06/2016 21:51

All you can do is provide what they ask for,it never a good idea to send anything else,I agree with user, just keep things simple and also if you do ring try to get the name of the person you speak to it's helpful in case you need to refer back for anything. Good luck everyone,it's horrible seeing more and more cases on this thread x

Blabla85 · 19/06/2016 21:56

Only thing I am not including is year worth of bank statements as I have no printer it will cost me a fortune and considering it my brother that flagged up I think proof of his birth certificate is enough, on other forums few people had family members names flagged up and case was dropped over the phone! Even hrmc said they were shocked but said I still have to apply to them

woodly2013 · 19/06/2016 22:19

Blabla85 what you are sending explains the situation perfectly, so best of luck all will be resolved.
User146, please try to not let them make you feel like that, I know it is easy to say and much harder to do. But, you have done nothing wrong and just another name and National insurance number to them. It really isn't personal it is a simple money saving exercise by HMRC and a money making scheme by Concentrix. Try to deal with things as they come and not let them overwhelm you or affect you between times.

i'm sending my evidence and additional complaint by recorded delivery on Tues. I am also raising if costs for posting, reprographics, duplicates etc can be reclaimed. I think not but I've asked why not. I am expecting a number of weeks wait until I get a response and until then I'm going to try to put it out of my head. I can do no more, it is then up to them. Take care everyone

Blabla85 · 19/06/2016 22:37

Thank you Woodley x

user1466095920 · 19/06/2016 22:39

Woodley have you checked your credit report?
Noddle offer a free service, it lists open and closed accounts, linked people and linked addresses.
it may be an old account that is still open showing at your last address which is linking you and your ex partner.
You know your stuff, do not let these people who know less than you dictate to you. I hope you get good news hun i really do.

woodly2013 · 19/06/2016 23:28

I haven't checked my credit report as my credit at my previous address was only my bank account current and savings(both changed when i moved 3yrs ago) and a second card holder on my partners credit card which wouldn't involve a credit check. They haven't even told me it is that address yet. You know that paranoia we talk about but try to avoid, well I bought two appliances for my parents in May because my parents couldn't get their credit card to be accepted on line. I used my name but their address, because delivery was to them. It makes me think, was a credit check done and that's the address they are linking me to? Just a thought, not one I will dwell on though. I can't defend what I don't know. I shall wait and see. Thanks for your comments and support.

Kk88 · 20/06/2016 02:59

God if their want ppl to explain all money payed into your bank account I'll be on all year lol. I've money coming in and going out to my sister, friend and ex's mother. I have bad credit from yrs ago so I used ex mothers catalogue to help spread cost of Xmas and pay it bk weekly. Also if I'm bit stuck and need extra cash I borrow and then send it bk. Same with my sister and friend. Basically my account shows I'm hopeless with cash! Lol no really I'm not bad I have no credit cards or overdraft or anything like that so if my account is 0 I have no money. I'm so sick of all of this if I'm truthful another night of next to no sleep with worry

woodly2013 · 20/06/2016 06:13

Hi Kk88, I am sorry to hear of the worry and loss of sleep this is causing you. Please try not to let it affect you so negatively. You can only respond to what they have requested. If they have any further questions regarding what you have provided, for example entries on your bank statements, they will ask and as you have here, you will explain. Which is all you can do. We do not all live our lives in a bubble of just us, we have family, friends and life circumstances that involve links to people, places and money. That is not unusual nor does it mean we have done anything wrong. You and your family come first, keep strong and positive for yourself and them. We are here and we have strength in mind, support and numbers. X

Blabla85 · 20/06/2016 11:18

Does this sound ok ladies

In regards to your letter I do have another adult living with me which is my mother and my siblings which I did claim to hrmc when I renewed my tax credits , how ever my dad recently passed away so it now myself with my mother and siblings

On 7h June I telephoned yourselfs regarding this letter as I wanted to know which adult you thought I was in relationship with as no other adults are registered at this address and we was worried someone was claiming to live here when they don't, I spoke to a very nice lady who confirmed the name was Robert Blanchett to which I responded was my disabled brother the lady apologised for the mix up.

I enclosed copy for brother birth certificate and my mother council tax letter as my mother pays for all the household bills but gets all her bills ebilling due to the fact we can't afford printer since my dad passed away

Hope this clear up the misunderstanding

Sorry for long post I have no one else to ask 🙈

woodly2013 · 20/06/2016 13:04

Hi blabla85, that sounds fine to me. You have made telephone contact and were provided with the other adults name, you have explained verbally the misunderstanding(which should have been recorded by them for 'Training purposes') and they have apologised(lucky you!) for the mix up. All you are doing in your written response to them is sending evidence to support what you have already told them verbally. Well done you for speaking to them, explaining and putting it all together. It isn't easy, but necessary. Hopefully that will be the end of it. Good luck x

Blabla85 · 20/06/2016 13:42

Thank u, u just never know with these people they prob write back and still demand more evidence ! X

woodly2013 · 20/06/2016 14:04

That is always a possibility! You can only give them at this stage what they have requested. It should be a simple process to clear up the confusion that has occurred. I would imagine as Concentrix will be paid for leads/contact even though it is perfectly obvious and reasonable the other adult in your household is your sibling, it serves their money making purpose to still pursue and seek evidence. They will argue they cannot make assumptions so must check. Glad you have tackled the issue and you will feel better having got the letter done and information together. Best wishes x

Blabla85 · 20/06/2016 14:08

They did ask for bank statements but I feel what the point they looking for mr Robert Blanchett paying money into my account which he won't cause he my brother so I feel they don't need them, if they want them they are accusing me of something completely different , if that makes sense ,

Kk88 · 20/06/2016 14:17

Thanks woodly, I don't care if they stops my tax credits but I'm worried if they say I have to pay last yrs money back. I'm finally debt free after working my arse off and don't want to have to pay it bk. I've already had to pay hmrc £4000 back of money I was entitled to because of a member of their staff not doing their job! So basically around 7 years ago. I was single and on benefits I rang and said me and the ex had got bk together and could we claim together. He was then on the dole and for about 9 months everything was okay. He then got a job, I rang up to tell them he was working and low and behold they didn't have him down as at my address even though I had rang and told them. I fought it for ages but they said they couldn't find a record of my call and that it was my fault for not checking the paperwork they sent me. I didn't know he had to be on it and assumed they had did their job. So I had to pay it bk. If the claim was single or joint we would have gotten the same amount of money as both where on benefits at the time. But no cause their staff didn't do their job right I had to pay it all back.

So that's why I'm worried sick as I just don't trust the hmrc to make sure their staff are trained right and even if they do it wrong it's a massive fight to sort it out. One your not likely to win either. I'm so sick of the whole system. Letter post today hoping for a quick response then I'm cancelling my claim so I don't need to be involved with it any longer.

user1466095920 · 20/06/2016 14:42

Kk what letter was it you received and have they named if you were linked to anyone?

user1465562572 · 20/06/2016 15:28

I've just had yet another letter from the previous owner, the lady died , so I hope they don't eventually day I'm living with her 😮

user1465562572 · 20/06/2016 15:28

Say* not dsy bloody spellchecker!

woodly2013 · 20/06/2016 15:36

Hi Kk88, you aren't living with anyone and haven't been doing so during the period of the tax credit claim so you have done nothing wrong. You have complied with the evidence request and that should be the end of it. I am sorry you are being put through so much worry. I agree staff are inadequately trained and many have very limited knowledge. This only compounds mistakes and misunderstandings, leaving us the customer coming worse off. Think of the time on your horizon when you will be free of them. I do hope thought is because you no longer have a condition of entitlement to tax credits, rather than you chucking in your claim because of their actions?? X
