Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

That's the predicament I'm in, if I don't send and they know of the savings accounts they will think I'm hiding something and if I do send they might stop my money, thing is when you claim tax credit they don't ask about savings so I don't understand what my savings accounts has to do with them!
Can I also just check ... if your in a new relationship but don't live with the person do u have to inform tax credits of this? My understanding is that you only need to inform them of a partner if your living together but I'm not and only been in this relationship 2 months now

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 14/06/2016 18:39

I don't think you have to inform them of any new relationship unless they move in. Not entirely sure of the rules for having people stay over though. It's so wrong that they can put us in this position, being worried about losing money and worrying about if it's ok how I spend my money! I agree they should be allowed to ask if they suspect something is going on, but I don't agree with how they go about it and how much information we have to send.

I really hope if they're not satisfied with what I've sent, they give me a chance to send more rather than just stop my money. I've gave them my ex's address so they should be able to check that his bank and everything is registered there.

Blabla85 · 14/06/2016 18:43

Thing is if they really sure u should be making a joint claim hrmc can acess your bank statements etc without permission

SJL1986 · 14/06/2016 19:33

Blabla85 are you sure that HMRC can access those details? If they could do that then why do we need to sent them statements of all accounts under our name? I don't get these people seriously!!

Blabla85 · 14/06/2016 19:37

Yep I am sure! Concentrix can't they have to get hrmc to get them but I think it cost them money I only know this as someone got interviewed and they had his bank statements

SJL1986 · 14/06/2016 20:15

I think I will just provide them with all my bank statements then, cos they will most probably know about them and but not sending it will look like I'm hiding something, when In fact I have nothing to hide.
I just have a feeling that this joint saving accounts which is for our childrens futures may affect me!
If anything I will have to stop saving and use that money I've saved for them to survive... breaks my heart to think this, especially when your just trying to do your best for your kids to secure their future!

MrsWJ · 14/06/2016 20:19

The way I understand it is that it if it gets referred to the CPS after the interview under caution then they can look through your accounts and anyone else's they feel you are connected to.

SJL1986 · 14/06/2016 20:37

Oh my well If your case gets referred to the CPS then

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 14/06/2016 21:00

I'm posting my statements tomorrow. I think I'm more worried by not posting them than I am about just sending them. I've gone through then, every payment from my ex is sent with the reference "maintenance" plus son's name. There's a few random payments but he was making up for not paying and then in January his wages changed from weekly to monthly so he paid extra then to cover December and January. I'm more concerned about my spending habits! But if I send my statements in they can see I do my own shopping, pay bills, buy petrol plus any extras like car repairs, treats etc! Going to get my account all tidied up too for next year I think in case this happens again. Going to have to get my ex to sign the forms to sign the virgin account over to me though as that's what's causing the problem. He refused when we first split up so will try again now.

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 14/06/2016 21:36

To make matters worse, I just checked the tracking for sending my documents last Thursday and they still haven't been signed for yet! Supposed to be guaranteed for Friday before 1. Last tracking info says its on its way and last scanned at Gatwick Mail centre. Going to be so angry if it's gone missing :(

Blabla85 · 14/06/2016 21:39

Oh no Hun ! Try contacting post office in the morning

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 14/06/2016 22:27

Yeah going to call Royal Mail tomorrow! Luckily I'm pretty sure I photo copied most of my stuff first. But means all my originals are lost unless it turns up. Although I didn't photocopy every page of my tenancy agreement as it's pretty long. I just copied the pages that where signed. Hopefully it still arrives. Will be claiming back my £7.25 for posting though!!

Grace1994 · 15/06/2016 17:56

What's happened when you've all phoned concentrix? Do they tell you over the phone what the problem is and what kind of information the have that someone else lives with you? Really dreading calling them

wow23 · 15/06/2016 18:22

I had a letter from them regarding my childcare. I called them today and spoke to a really nice man. They have had my documents for 8 weeks now and still not heard anything. He said with all the documents they are receiving back and taking all the calls they dont have enough staff to go through the documents they are receiving. He couldnt give me a time when it might be sorted! Its so annoying!!

2MuchLoveWillKillYou · 15/06/2016 19:46

I must be very lucky. Received my letter 3 weeks ago on Sat posted everything on Wed after and received my letter last Friday with no change. I actually stopped claiming about 2-3weeks before letter arrived but still had to supply all the info. Sky was in my exes name but I paid by dd. Sent them long covering letter explaining everything ( Inc regular maintenance payments) told them my ex sees my child every day and I'm not planning to stop that because we are not together. Showed them bank statements bills credit card etc. And it worked, it was very stressful but finally sorted.

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 15/06/2016 20:14

Grace, yeah I got told the name they had as "someone who may be living with me". Must be because of my Virgin media account as that's still in my ex's name. Also, Virgin took his name down wrong (put his last name as first name and first name as last name) and that's the same name concentrix gave me. Everything else is in my name.

2Much, that's really good how quickly yours was dealt with. I sent mine special delivery last Thursday but seems it hasn't been signed for yet. Going to phone Royal Mail tomorrow.

Grace1994 · 15/06/2016 20:17

2MuchLoveWillKillYou That's a good result, my situation is exactly the same as yours was, it's just the sky that's still in my exes name but I kept it and pay the dd every month. What did you say in your covering letter? I'm planning to send all my documents tomorrow but obviously need to write a covering letter to go with it.

wow23 · 15/06/2016 20:22

2muchlove, was your letter from concentrix or hmrc

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 15/06/2016 20:40

My situation is the same, we took out the virgin account 1 year before we split up, I still use and pay for it. Ex refused to sign account over to me when we first split up though. I can't get any other internet where I live now so just kept using it and paying for it myself. I explained all that in a covering letter. Just gave them a timeline of events from when we opened the account to when we split up. I even sent them an email from virgin from last August saying I couldn't get an account in my name because there was already an account at the address. Sent then all the payments I've made to Virgin too. So hopefully all is ok, when the eventually get my stuff!

Grace1994 · 15/06/2016 20:44

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 They didn't give me a name or anything, just called them. They just said 'most likely' to be about a bill. Do you pay the direct debit for your virgin? I'm so scared I don't know what I'll do if they stop payments, I've also had the same letter now from the local council regarding the bit of housing benefit I receive as they think someone lives with me too! It's so stressful I am just praying they are reasonable enough to accept my explanation.

Grace1994 · 15/06/2016 20:46

Don't worry you answered my question while I was typing! X

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 15/06/2016 21:06

They only told me the name the second time I called, the first time they said its probably someone else's mail coming here like a previous tenant, so I assumed it was that as I did an exchange 6 months ago and sometimes get mail for previous tenant still. When I called the second time, I asked if they could tell me the name and they gave the name that's on my virgin account. I haven't heard from housing benefit yet, dreading if that happens. Didn't even know housing benefit can also get involved at this stage :(

2MuchLoveWillKillYou · 15/06/2016 21:13

I wrote the truth . That sky was on his name but he never paid a penny because dd came out of my account. (Highlighted on my bank statement) , told them we share all big expenses together I.e school trips, furniture or holidays. Explained that he's a very good dad (which he is!) And he's very involved in her upbringing however has his own life. Showed them bills on my nAme aNd only explained unusual transactions (i.e. bonus payment from . Work which was one off ) . I took 8 pages because when I called them they asked about the details I.e why we not together etc. So had to do some timeline when and how... I probably wrote too much detail but to be fair I didn't want them to ask and additional questions .(for example I have savings account so u could see transfers between the two, so I showed them I transferred bonus between accounts but now only have 55 p there lol )

Blabla85 · 15/06/2016 21:32

That made me feel better, as mine flagged up my brother so sent off birth certificate explained he was my brother and mum pays all the bills sent council tax but couldn't do other bills as got no printer so hoping this be enough if not I do whole year of bank statements my ex partner too is very good dad pays for everything for her

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 15/06/2016 21:48

I think I'll do the same when I send in my bank statements, explain why's there's a few extra payments from ex. He didn't give me anything for a few months, which they'll see for themselves so he did give me extra a few times when he could to make up for it. Plus occasionally he'd transfer like a fiver and tell me to put it in our son's piggy bank. I'm trying not to stress too much. It's a perfectly simple explanation and the evidence is there to confirm that.
