Have you received a letter from HMRC or Concentrix? This is part 8 now. Have you had the dreaded letter demandeing evidence you live alone? Hopefully we can support each other and try and make sense of it all.

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 As far as I'm aware the council get their information from hmrc for example when my tax credits changes by a few £ the council will send me a letter with an amended benefit award. I got the concentrix letter 6th June and council letter 10th June so I think they're just getting the info from hmrc. It's not so in depth either as they only want 2 months payslips, hmrc letter confirming my working tax credits and a statement from my savings account showing the balance. Also have to fill out a form stating who lives here..So I'm hoping that one will be over fairly soon. I might try calling concentrix again tomorrow to see if they will tell me who it's regarding. I'm assuming it's about sky being in my exes name even though I can prove I pay the bill. But it did occur to me earlier I do sometimes get letters from hmrc for the previous tenants but I always send them back RTS.

2MuchLoveWillKillYou Thank you, I think I'll do the same as you as I also have a savings account I transfer money into to save for Christmas/my girls birthday and I have had an extra payment from work for my annual bonus too. Although I don't think I will do 8 pages!!!!!
Why did they ask you why you wasn't together anymore? It doesn't seem any of their business?

I'm so glad I found this thread and talking to people in the same situation as I have been freaking out all weekend over this... I called my mum in tears when I got the letter on Friday.

NedStarksHead · 16/06/2016 09:05

I actually can't cope with this anymore.
I've just had another letter through from Concentrix asking for this financial years childcare evidence.

Why the hell does this keep happening it's absolutely ridiculous!?!?!

NedStarksHead · 16/06/2016 10:39

I'm actually starting to think the entire point of tax credit payments are to make it so unbelievably complicated and difficult that you just stop claiming them through the stress and hassle of trying to deal with then

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 16/06/2016 11:08

My Royal Mail tracking was still showing as progressing through the network, so I called Royal Mail and they said this happens a lot with concentrix so to check with them first as they take in so much Mail they don't sign individually for each one. So called concentrix and they do have my stuff and it was scanned on to the system yesterday. I'm going to send in my bank statements too and she's put a note on the system saying I'm sending in more stuff. I've just to write a covering letter explaining I get maintenance from my ex. Apparently it can take up to 8 weeks for a decision. They shouldn't be allowed to have you waiting so long for something of this nature, knowing people are worrying.

Blabla85 · 16/06/2016 11:27

I spoke to hmrc this morning making sure my payments weren't going to stop , she actually couldn't believe they sent me a letter accusing me of having relationship and it being my brother she said I have no words, they expect us to send them stuff on time !

woodly2013 · 16/06/2016 15:59

Hi All, I last posted on 31st May when I said I had complained to HMRC and made a SAR request. Just to update you that I haven't yet had a response. The Concentrix letter said I had to respond to them with the evidence they requested by 21st June. My only contact with them has been my original telephone call which they should have recorded and documented. When I hear something I will let you all know. Keep strong. Smile

Blabla85 · 16/06/2016 16:32

Me to is making a complaint to accuse me of having someone else in my house is bad enough but for it to be my brother I am so angry , my family been though hell this past year lost my dad to cancer then 6 weeks later my grandad passed away, just start getting my life back together now this! If they did a check in first place they would of seen it my brother with no need to send this stupid letter! But no they have no brain cells! Sorry rant over for today 🙈🙈

Hi all

I have some news.

I was on my out today, I had literally locked my door, walked down the path, and I was approached by someone who asked if I was I said yes, and she introduced herself as ** from Concentrix and that she had come for the home visit as per the letter they sent.

Now. I have not received any letter from them, and I told her that. She said well she can confirm my appointment was today/time and would I let her in.

Now, I was so stunned and shocked I burst into tears. I had my child with me as well. I managed to blurt out I can't I can't I haven't received any letter . So she got shirty with me because I wouldn't let her in.

I said can they send another letter out, and she said this will go against you.

She went and I just stood crying on the street. I was so upset by it. About an hour later I phoned Concentrix and said this lady showed up but I had t received a letter - can they do this. The man said yes they can. I asked him why she came and he said she's looking for evidence I have someone living with me, and this is something else they are rolling out.

So I said can they send out another letter so I can at least get a representative with me.

I'm so scare and shocked Confused

Wow that wow! Have u sent all ur paperwork to them ? X

user1465562572 · 16/06/2016 16:56

Blahblah yes I did, they have the lot, all this is over a bill in his name, she thought she was going to surprise me and find a man laying on my sofa. They are fuckwits.

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 16/06/2016 16:58

I kinda would be happy to let them have a look around as I they'd see there's nothing to show that my ex is here. My ex has never even lived at this address as I moved after we split up so wouldn't even have anything left over that he's forgot to take. I can totally see how you'd get a shock though given the stress you already have from concentrix. Did she say what she wanted to do exactly that put you off letting her in? Hope they don't turn your place upside and leave a mess for you to put away! Can't believe they can treat us this way, such a massive invasion of our privacy. A years worth of personal documents and searching homes. Disgusting way to go about things without any kind of proper evidence.

wow23 · 16/06/2016 16:59

User, hope you are okay. Thats really bad trying to surprise you with a home visit. When did you send your paperwork off x

Blabla85 · 16/06/2016 17:03

I tell them where to go as well if they just turned up ! Even hrmc have to have a warrent! Plus I live with two disabled adults we can't have any one just turn up they would have a melt down x

user1465562572 · 16/06/2016 17:03

I couldn't let her in as we had the dentist. And also no letter. No she just said it was a home visit, but by all accounts, unannounced. I could of been in the bath. I think it was a fishing expedition to catch me out but like I say , she wouldn't find evidence of any man here. She probably had one of those secret spy cameras in her pen.

wow23 · 16/06/2016 17:08

No way would i have let them in, especially unannounced. I cant believe they are doing this

Grace1994 · 16/06/2016 17:23

That is unbelievable! I have no idea how they get away with treating people like this, I understand some people bend the rules but if you have given all evidence, been compliant and provided and explanation then it's crossing the line into harassment. Cannot believe she showed up unannounced too! What are they going to do? Look through your wardrobe? check how many toothbrushes are in the bathroom? Go through the bin to calculate how much food has been eaten? I would call them and threaten leagal action as this is definitely harassment now I feel so angry for you!

Blabla85 · 16/06/2016 17:23

Thing is if hrmc were really that concerned they would do these check them selves ! It clearly scare tactics far as I was aware they can't just show up at your house ! X hope u r ok X

Allgoodnamesaretaken1 · 16/06/2016 17:29

We're being treated like we're criminals. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. Clearly Concentrix think they have their own rules and we're guilty until proven innocent.

woodly2013 · 16/06/2016 17:41

I've just been trying to look up HMRC compliance checks and home visits to determine their policy and procedures on this method of contact. I haven't turned anything up yet regarding tax credit claims, I can find home visits in respect of a customer request and in relation to taxation but not tax credits. The contract HMRC holds with Concentrix must be documented somewhere and in that should be level of expected service, data collation and sharing, expected outcomes and accepted methods of contact and requests. Addresses are noted for complaints to either HMRC or Concentrix, I wouldn't bother complaining to the latter. HMRC pull the strings and their contract management will have to be made aware of the complaints relating to Concentrix and deal with them accordingly. If anyone does find anything on 'home visits' or has a letter about a home visit that gives more information on why, how etc. Please post. Cheers

Grace1994 · 16/06/2016 17:55

The letter from concentrix mentions 'your rights and obligations' and gives this website:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/your-charter

A quote under 'your rights':

1.1 Respect you and treat you as honest
We’ll treat you even-handedly, with courtesy and respect. We’ll listen to your concerns and answer your questions clearly. We’ll presume that you’re telling us the truth, unless we have good reason to think otherwise.

You have the right to be treated innocent until proven otherwise, not the other way around!

user1466095920 · 16/06/2016 17:56

Ive had the childcare letter, will i also stand to receive the "we believe another adult to be living with you" or is it one at a time?
Absolute disgrace tbh, when companies are ripping off billions and yet its single mothers who are being hunted down by these people

I have also managed to find the name of a contact involved for the outsourcing of HMRC to Concentrix, looks like they bid for this type of work and were successful in obtaining the contracts. I have emailed him direct and asked for a copy of or to be directed to the full contract agreement details agreed between HMRC and Concentrix. Thank you for your links I will try to scan read for any useful info

user1466095920 · 16/06/2016 18:13
