What a vile woman

Siwi · 26/01/2016 21:01

I have noticed that the logo for The Independent is almost identical to the logo of FL.

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 21:10

In 2007, author Richard Bach made claims against Forever Living Products for copyright infringement and trademark infringement. The lawsuit stated that for over 20 years FLP had used the character, storyline, and copyrighted excerpts from the novel Jonathan Livingston Seagull to promote its marketing plan, and also used the motion picture and novel as its corporate logo. The claim was satisfied through arbitration, and shortly after, FLP changed its company logo from a seagull to an eagle.

GeordieBadger · 26/01/2016 21:32

Wow. How long have The Independent been using their current logo?

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 21:41

GeordieBadger The Independent was launched as recently as 1986. I might be wrong, but I think it's always had the same logo.

Siwi · 26/01/2016 21:44

They used to call Success Days 'Jonathan Days'.

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 21:55

Siwi The level of blatant copyright theft by the 'FLP' bosses from the author this work, almost beggars belief. They obviously wanted to make their racket seem as cute and innocent as possible, so they just took this popular contemporary imagery as camouflage. My associate Robert FitzPatrick was an adviser to the plaintiffs in the lawsuit and he knows probably as much as anyone about it.

Teddy1970 · 26/01/2016 22:08

What would it actually take for the whole house of cards to come tumbling down? A few whistle blowers? Government intervention? It's getting to saturation point, every man and his dog is trying to flog aloe vera, either that or they're a self styled "business coach", what a joke that title is.

penny1ane · 26/01/2016 22:21

In the eyes of an flbot, Louise Perry will appear a saint with her "act of kindness"

In fact, she will most probably believe that herself

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 22:22

Teddy1970 This is a very interesting question, because it's not just now in the UK with 'FLP.' The 'MLM' phenomenon has been growing out of control since the 'Amway' racket escaped federal government regulation in the late 1970s. The percentage of American families that have been touched by 'MLM' rackets, is quite staggering

I complained for 14 years to UK government regulators, before they finally launched a civil investigation of 'Amway', and then they missed an open goal with the resulting prosecution. I once suggested to a sympathetic UK government lawyer that probably the only way to get something done to re-establish the rule of law in respect of the 'MLM' rackets in the UK, would be to take a fucking flame thrower to 'Amway's' UK HQ and then go to court to explain why.

Siwi · 26/01/2016 22:26

Do you think that the Independent know that they share their logo?

(Do you think that they are similar?)

Siwi · 26/01/2016 22:27

(25 years for arson, Eye)
:)

Bovnydazzlers · 26/01/2016 22:27

Not particularly original, but I enjoyed this picture (posted by FB friend I'm guessing about MLMs).

Im assuming the FB page of David Avacado Wolfe is a spoof page?!

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 22:32

Siwi - They are virtually identical, but I think the eagle logo was chosen by the 'FLP' racketeers, because it's so common and because it represents America and freedom. They had probably never seen, or heard of, the Independent. Countless companies and organizations have been using similar eagle logos for decades.

Teddy1970 · 26/01/2016 22:37

Thanks Eyespy, and thanks for the links earlier showing how religious fanatics use mind control..how else can you be a shelf stacker in Morrisons one minute and then hacking off heads the next? It explains a lot, anyway I digress. Had a quick look at EC husbands F/B page..he brags rather a lot doesn't he? Banging on that his driveway looks like an elite car dealership with all the flash cars up the drive, a lot of Range Rovers (i wonder why??) but no Bentleys or Aston Martins strangely enough...

Rudechoob · 26/01/2016 23:05

We are nearly full! Link to another lighthearted flp mlm thread? Xxx

Bovnydazzlers · 26/01/2016 23:19

I'm sure in vain, but I've submitted a question to BBCs 'Trust me I'm a doctor' regarding whether FL claims of offering better product than (for example) Holland and Barrett's vastly cheaper products ring true.

I do think it would be great if some independent scientist somewhere could do some study on the benefits (or lack of...) of FL products.

Eyespying · 26/01/2016 23:25

My pleasure Teddy 1970. Again have a look at my reply on the other thread.

Siwi · 26/01/2016 23:27

Could we have a link to the 'recruit from the abbatoir' link in the next op?
Also, please don't fill this one up before Lastuser or someone posts a link to the next thread.

See you there!
