I've been sucked into forever living!! Why do I feel like the bad guy?

Recently an acquaintance emailed me to ask if I could 'help' her by trying a few products and giving her some feedback. Being the nice person I am I agreed. When the bag of samples turned up the penny dropped and i realised that she's trying to sell them to me (I'm naive I know!). I thought id just buy a little bubble bath. Its fucking 14 quid! No way. I'm sending the bag back and pleading eczema. Does this whole company operate by guilting friends and family into purchasing crap quality at ridic prices?

I have a real life FL friend! She is a good friend and we work in the same room. She started selling FL to make extra money for treats but has definitely bought into the whole ethos and my word 8 hours a day of positivity wears me out!

There are about 6 other people at work who buy the products and having just suffered through weeks on end of one or other of them doing the cleansing detox I can't take anymore!!!!! All the FL chit chat makes me want to rip my ears off! Angry

She is lovely though. Let's hope she gets so rich from it she can retire.

WellErrr · 05/06/2015 13:13

Is Temple Spa one?? I have a friend selling it and her skin looks amazing so I was considering buying some.......am I being silly??

IAmAPaleontologist · 05/06/2015 13:18

Our locsl FB business page is 99% wraps, yonique, FL and other crap. Took me ages to work out what FL was because there was this thing of making it seem mysterious and just being all"i cure everything and make you rich, message me for more". Really helped the cult image Hmm

Thw 1% not selling make up and aloe vera sell usbourne books.

excuse the typing. wrrong hand, vomit toddler asleep on right arm. need FL to cure him for me.

Icimoi · 05/06/2015 13:44

One of my FB friends is pushing JuicePlus in a big way. I tried asking why I would want "the next best thing to fruits and vegetables" when, um, fruit and vegetables are plentiful and cheap. Strangely, I didn't get a reply.

Hoppinggreen · 05/06/2015 13:54

Actually the Temple Spa stuff is quite good ( although I had a nightmare with the fake tan) and the consultants don't tend to be as annoying as FL etc as its a slightly different business model but I keep getting harassed to go to " parties' despite me telling the Temple Spa lady I will NEVER go to one.
At least Temple Spa actually admit to having a product!!!

I've just been moseying on net mums and the FL threads.

Wow - all those women whose lives have been changed yet not ONE - out of hundreds of replies across various threads - is willing to say what they ACTUALLY earn.

MerdeAlor · 05/06/2015 18:27

I've been taking a browse on that thread too Tallulah

Gives me a shiver of weird glee Grin

Stitchintime1 · 05/06/2015 18:32

Link please? Or is that not the done thing? I'll google.

Tiredemma · 05/06/2015 18:51

Do all these people who are earning 4k a month etc have to register for tax?

Womaninsack · 05/06/2015 18:52

A google reveals senior manager ( which entails flogging GALLONS of the stuff and managing ten sof folk) gets you about £30K a year, tops.

Hardly the stuff of dreams....

TallulahFallula · 05/06/2015 19:28

No no Woman!

Someone on one of those threads has a mentor who earns £16,000 a MONTH!

And that's not unusual! The rewards are PHENOMENAL!!

TallulahFallula · 05/06/2015 19:29

Stitch in time - just google "Forever living netmums" and loads of threads will appear.

Stitchintime1 · 05/06/2015 19:32

I did. They were a bit dull to be honest. Things like, "I'm really excited. I've just bought my starter kit and I'm reading through the instructions."

I thought I would read humorously exaggerated claims.

ln1981 · 05/06/2015 19:43

Anyone else have a nuskin FB friend? She started of with a galvanic face machine thingy and now seems to be skincare, toothpaste and, for a short while, some sort of nutritional program which involved shakes and pills. she's a real life friend too but hasn't tried to sell to me anything (thankfully!) But I think she knows her target market is not likely to be my group of friends as the things she is trying to sell are seriously expensive!

Alice1983 · 05/06/2015 20:37

I love the photos of the Before and After where like the lighting is so completely different in both photos that it makes you wonder whether whilst applying the cream to the face there was some kind of electrical power surge...All dull and dark in first image and all bright and 'revitalised' on the second. #awkward #lightingissues #yolo!!!!

PatriciaHolm · 05/06/2015 21:53

"Things like, "I'm really excited. I've just bought my starter kit and I'm reading through the instructions." "

Indeed. And curiously enough, none of them ever come back to post "OMG I just made £1k/£2k/£16k this month"

It's more like "Anyone interested in some discounted stock, I've given up..."

Stitchintime1 · 05/06/2015 21:59

I know. They often do go quiet about money. There are tons of courses though. Friends of mine are always off to conferences. Apparently FL stuff s good but it doesn't sound cheap.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 22:03

So do they have to pay to go to these conferences and on foreign meet ups?

Stitchintime1 · 05/06/2015 22:06

I think so. And I notice that they make CC which I think means some sort of credits. They seem to earn that rather than money. I've watched tons of links on yt - well I watch the first two minutes so I can pretend I've seen them - and they are a bit like revival shows.

Chillyegg · 05/06/2015 22:19

I experienced forever living for the first time a few weeks ago. Iy is a bloody cult and it gets the least likely suspects! A very distant family member tried selling me a product to help my baby's eczema stating that it will cure all her allergy issues as well, because it contains aloe vera! Hmm

IAmAPaleontologist · 05/06/2015 22:32

Ah nuskin in19, i don't have one here but when i was a 19 year old backpacker i did some woofing in Australia and the place i was at did nuskin and basically tried to lure in any backpacker who came through. The ones who were interested were given much better treatment than those who refused. nuskin had a charitable arm sending meals to schools in developing countries and as a naive, cash strapped traveller they got me collecting money for it, i got to keep a cut off what i collected. feel rather guilty about that now.

BringBackCabinPressure · 05/06/2015 22:52

I used to have a brilliant home hairdresser who was very reasonable and great with the kids.
Then she spent one entire cutti g session trying to recruit me to her FL team.

I was gutted :( obviously can't have her back now. She just wouldn't take no for an answer and I couldn't risk having half cut hair!

chickenfuckingpox · 05/06/2015 23:31

it shouldn't be 14 quid its only 12 here they actually buy it for around 8 the rest is there profit it is actually good for my sons eczema but its not for everyone i buy it because the alternative is he scratches himself to pieces!

stay clear unless you actually need the products im getting quite good at avoiding joining the cult

woowoo22 · 05/06/2015 23:45

Please can someone explain this, How does "she's had a 5% pay increase and is now earning an EXTRA £1,000 a month" work?

5% of what??? £100k-odd? The figures don't make sense.
