I've been sucked into forever living!! Why do I feel like the bad guy?

Recently an acquaintance emailed me to ask if I could 'help' her by trying a few products and giving her some feedback. Being the nice person I am I agreed. When the bag of samples turned up the penny dropped and i realised that she's trying to sell them to me (I'm naive I know!). I thought id just buy a little bubble bath. Its fucking 14 quid! No way. I'm sending the bag back and pleading eczema. Does this whole company operate by guilting friends and family into purchasing crap quality at ridic prices?

Magic? I guess I can understand people feeling aggrieved by FL if they have been sucked in to their own detriment.

sakura · 31/08/2015 11:09

?? Haven't been sucked in. Haven't bought anything from them.

What I'm against is funny/interesting/witty threads on mumsnet being sort of hijacked. It kills the thread. Threadkillers.

sakura · 31/08/2015 11:13

Oh, I see. You mean that Eyespying feels aggrieved. Yes, sure, that is obvious. Except why is Eyespy carrying on with the FL ethos by getting other people on board the particular bandwagon they happen to be involved in? Write to X, complain about Y... when this thread was a lighthearted approach to understanding what is going on with this borg known as FL

Seryn2ann · 31/08/2015 11:29

So since my last post, I've decided I will be joining forever living. This week hopefully. I'm keen to get started and although still read this forum and another one i haven't read anything that has actually put me off. I've researched it and decided that it seems viable and what to decide for myself what I think if the company :-)

lazycoo · 31/08/2015 12:45

Really interesting to note how your syntax and grammar has changed since you started posting on this topic seryn2ann - you'd almost think you could be two (or more) people from FLHQ... Hmm

sakura there is a more lighthearted bot-watch thread that you might like Grin

Seryn2ann · 31/08/2015 13:06

Haha! Nope it's just me. One normal person, who doesn't work at FLHQ. Can't really say I can see the change in my grammar, anyhow il keep u all posted, and of course if anyone wants to join my team get in touch :-) - I couldn't resist getting that in there lol!

LittleMissStubborn · 31/08/2015 13:14

We'll if nothing has been written has put you off then all we can say is Good Luck, [shrugs]

mobiusgeek · 15/09/2015 18:17

I'm glad this thread still lives (although realise no one has posted for a couple of weeks). I'm relieved to know there are others with EXACTLY the same thoughts on it all as me. It's like we're in The Walking Dead and finding this thread is like discovering a radio channel of salvation from the walkers!!

I've made it half way though (i'm into July) and it has really given me some laugh-out-loud moments - you're all hilarious. I've ended up knowing quite a lot about MLM (specifically FL) though studying it after my close friend got suckered in much to my disbelief. I've since become weirdly fascinated by all the bonkers motivational posts, 'horizon' images, white range rovers and hashtag bingo. Whoever said "Like Rubbernecking at an accident" and "seeking daily doses of cringe" hit it right on the head. You might also be interested to know this all originates from Utah, where most of these MLM's are the brainchild of Mormons. You want to watch the intro video to the Younique brand. Note the woman with really bad makeup - but the first bit with the man crying is GOLD. AS IF he is shedding a tear about his passion to simply 'empower women' or whatever. LOL These founders are also latter-day saints :-S

I could go on about it for ages, but i made some memes to sum it up (couldn't resist after someone mentioned we should do that to counteract theirs!) Feel free to share - I feel I personally can't on the likes of FB because there's that close friend I don't want to upset after they have already been sucked in. I tried to put some sound information together for them about the facts & risks involved, but they had already been brainwashed. Have decided to just leave them to it. I was too late to even chop off the arm and stop the infection spreading :-(

Seryn2ann · 15/09/2015 18:48

Well Duno if anyone is interested to know but I did join and since my last post things are going good :-) I haven't gone fb crazy! I haven't harrassed friends or family, I haven't done a launch party or anything similar, however I have made money and I have helped people. I think it's all about work ethics and beliefs, I wudnt buy if I felt pressurised regardless of how good a product was so in treating ppl the same.

littledafty · 15/09/2015 19:02

Some inspirational quotes from my two fb fl 'senior' managers.
I'm feeling inspired.

You seem to have done amazingly well in a new job after just 2 wks.

I started a new job nearly 4,mths ago and only now do I feel I am getting truly to grips with it and that is with previous experience.

But amazing you have learnt so much in just 2wks.

lazycoo · 16/09/2015 21:52

1duffy · 09/11/2015 00:39

It really gets on my nerves all the tosh about the products. And people being sickly sweet to each other...its hun this and babe that and how incredibly well they are doing and telling people that they can quit their job and make a fortune selling forever products. Seriously! How can normally grounded friends suddenly be sucked in by a scam like that. It will all come crashing down when they see the light and they realise they bought into a total scam

1duffy · 09/11/2015 19:26

That is just sooo funny and so true! Lol

TibbyJ · 07/12/2015 23:26

Hi everyone, being reading through this thread and it's brilliant lol. I unfortunately am one of the stupid ones. I signed up with younique last week. Spent £69 i think it was on the kit then another £200 to get stock. Anyway its arrived and none of it suits me at all!!! Maybe for someone younger. I'm 36 and all the colours are bright bold and brash looking. The mascara looks rediculous on me and also the fibres fall down my face ( maybe I'm doing it wrong but followed instructions lol) I look like a clown. So I can't use it for myself. No one wants to buy anything ( don't blame them!). Basically the outcome is I'm stuck with a loads of expensive crap I don't like and £269 out of pocket. I have bouts of depression and thought this was a good idea when I was in a bad place. This was a bad bad bad idea lol. I won't be quitting my day job and Should have stuck to my max factor lol. Hard lesson learnt for me unfortunately! Xxx

LittleMissStubborn · 08/12/2015 22:04

Tibby I am so sorry you were targeted at what sounds like a vulnerable and difficult time for you. Unfortunately that is what happens is that people are targeted when they are in a place where it sounds appealing. Do they offer any money back guarantee at all? I don't have any advice other than well done for realising so early on.

TibbyJ · 11/12/2015 14:09

I don't think I can send the kit back but I think I actually can with the products I bought which is a relief xxx

sickoffakedietclaims · 09/01/2016 09:06

I have younique, actiderm and forever living friends. Lucky me! Actiderm is my personal favourite as they now do bonus balls for their products. £2 to win a wrap, i prefer the healthy ones i can eat thankyou! 7 day shreds! I asked about their quals no need for them as you dont need them to work in a chemist one said. Oh but you do was my response, a pharmasist needs a degree and assistants need SPecialist NVQS so that put them in their place or so i thought. The next thing they came back with wasbwe are trained health and beauty professionals, year right after an hours discussion with your team leader. But i love the continual crap they spout. Like rapid weightloss is good for your health, causes no long term effects. Oh aye so why are you complaining of panic attacks palpitations and gallstones. Thats right all because of your rapid weightloss garbage.
