I've been sucked into forever living!! Why do I feel like the bad guy?

Recently an acquaintance emailed me to ask if I could 'help' her by trying a few products and giving her some feedback. Being the nice person I am I agreed. When the bag of samples turned up the penny dropped and i realised that she's trying to sell them to me (I'm naive I know!). I thought id just buy a little bubble bath. Its fucking 14 quid! No way. I'm sending the bag back and pleading eczema. Does this whole company operate by guilting friends and family into purchasing crap quality at ridic prices?

Cocolepew - I only just realised when you wrote that!!!!

Cocolepew · 04/06/2015 22:23

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Grin

MarthasHarbour · 04/06/2015 22:26

See I am now Angry that I deleted my FLFB friend because of this shit. I miss the entertainment!

But fear not - DSis has just started selling it. I feel a bit sorry for DBIL as he is a nice bloke and is already being told to use the mens stuff

Oh and there was a brilliant plug on the local FB selling page the other day. 'OMG I can't believe I burned my hand on my straighteners - thank goodness I had my Aloe Vera gel shite handy. I was instantly cured' Hmm or some such nonsense.

ROAR @ 'Ramadan Pack'

lol

Melonfool · 04/06/2015 22:53

Ramadan pack??? But, but.....you don't eat or drink during Ramadan, until after dark, and then this is surely the last thing you'd drink??

Melonfool · 04/06/2015 22:56

I accused my niece tonight of going hashtag mad - and she said it's Instagram, apparently it does it for you??

friginilla · 04/06/2015 23:14

And there was me thinking it was just me that thought the mascara was ridiculous. I have an acquaintance that sells Younique and FOUR friends that sell FL. What a load of crap. My Younique acquaintance overnight turned into a Make Up Artist and y FL friends are now all of the sudden expert Dieticians.....#awkward Blush

WineSpider · 05/06/2015 07:07

I have a hilarious FLFB "friend" - an ex colleague who has given up her high powered career to pursue her dreams blah blah. I realise now that her friend request was just a recruitment drive.

Her statuses are the cheesiest shite I have ever read, I'm way too cynical for it but can't defriend her as it's so awful but so compelling.

They are definitely on a mission to promote a lifestyle and suck you in, it's pretty cultish. I don't know anyone who actually uses the products so can't understand how this army of people can live such an amazing life from the proceeds.

mumofsnotbags · 05/06/2015 07:35

Im disgusted to say that a mutual friend I used to admire and look up to has been sucked into this FL.

She is a teacher, highly respected, had a beautiful house and has a herb/veg garden, we were chatting recently and she kept asking why I was itching my eyes so much, I have eczema under the eyelids and was waiting to go for my operation. She jumped at the chance to tell me all about this aloe vera stuff and as she has her own garden growing the stuff I assumed it was what she made herself. She promised to pass down a sample to me.

I saw on the back forever living and it went straight in the bin and Ive had 4 calls since asking what size bottle id like to order.

I also have juice plus - know 3 people alone who've done it, lost a few stone and put it all back on again.

my fave recently is the instant ageless and younique girl i have on fb, rather than motivational quotes its pictures of shoes asking people to help her decide which ones to buy - couldnt afford these if i wasn't making serious money with my business - Its mascara?? How do you afford designer shoes through mascara??

Tiredemma · 05/06/2015 07:44

My greatest irritation is the assumption that my life in comparison must be shit. I actually really enjoy my 'real' job and have no interest whatsoever giving it up to spend my days sat in costa with my laptop (with obligatory pic posted 'here in my office'- ) sending begging emails to old school friends inviting them to meet up for 'coffee'

mumofsnotbags · 05/06/2015 07:48

Ok i have a new one... not to make you all jealous or anything..

same shoe girl has now put up a picture of someone with facial scarring, next to same person with heavy makeup on, before and after its supposed to be for... drumroll please.....stem cell tech serum!!!! Shock only a tenner.

cardibach · 05/06/2015 07:51

I have a colleague who has just started with FL. works full time in a demanding professional role. I've had to unfollow as I can't stand it all - might go and have a little look now though! She's having a 'charity business launch' at which she will con loads of people while pretending it's promoting Cancer Research. Struggling not to say anything to her/other colleagues who haven't realised what's going on.

KindergartenKop · 05/06/2015 07:56

How much do you think the starter packs cost?

OP posts:
Tiredemma · 05/06/2015 08:01

They are about £200

teawamutu · 05/06/2015 08:19

I remember when Women Empowering Women got to my area. Had calls from women assuring me the great thing was that EVERYONE would benefit (the whole 'not enough people in the world and the last recruits will get it in the shorts' reasoning was apparently just defeatist patriarchal nonsense. Not that they could have pronounced patriarchy).

The thing that really boiled my piss was that the nastiest, bitchiest, most selfish person I knew was in there first thing and claimed to have made her 'diamond' (i.e. fleeced people even more stupid than she was).

Tiredemma · 05/06/2015 08:27

Interesting- I have just been on 'another' parenting website and they have a thread where they are al backpatting each other and inviting others to 'inbox for a friendly chat....'

Bambambini · 05/06/2015 09:46

Tiredmama - netmums?

Googled FL last night as I'd never heard of it and led me to a huge thread on Nm (going about 6 yrs) - though it is for those working in FL rather than just random posters.

would be interesting for them to see what some folk think of the business. Some of it seemed to be encouraging the less confident newer sellers to be more pushy at the school gates etc. Just push, push, push and oh - get a team together. Some seemed really happy with what they were doing though.

cococandyfloss · 05/06/2015 09:47

There is a new one on my facebook feed-not sure what brand it is -it isn't clear? They do a heel crack cream, facemask (epoch I think) and tooth whitening and green tea capsules which are a different make. They are full blown with the cult type support, hashtags and loads of sea scaped motivationals about being positive and achieving and how they are all going to make loads of money. There are also Spain meet ups and they are all heading to the USA soon. There is a lot about being great business people and inspirations seminars!
I just don't get how sensible people get involved in this!

Cocolepew · 05/06/2015 11:26

#Todays favourite motivational gubbins

#Just because it zips, doesn't mean it fits.

#YOLO.

DinosaursRoar · 05/06/2015 12:15

oh is YOLO now FL? Because all the FL people I know are posting pictures of cakes with YOLO (which is surely going to put back on the inches they've lost from starving themselves on those shakes for a "9 day cleanse").

voluptuagoodshag · 05/06/2015 12:26

I've got a FL and an Arbonne FB. My line is 'oh I buy stuff like that for £2.99 out of Aldi, it's fine for me' and then I stare at them, almost willing them to say 'yes but you look shite, buy my very expensive goo instead so I can go on holiday'.
It's really funny because they know that you know that they know their stuff is shite and they know that they can't comment on your actual appearance without being hugely insulting and oh how they squirm.

Hoppinggreen · 05/06/2015 12:57

No one has mentioned Temple Spa yet.
She's not as bad as my FLFB but still a pain in the arse
