I've been sucked into forever living!! Why do I feel like the bad guy?

Recently an acquaintance emailed me to ask if I could 'help' her by trying a few products and giving her some feedback. Being the nice person I am I agreed. When the bag of samples turned up the penny dropped and i realised that she's trying to sell them to me (I'm naive I know!). I thought id just buy a little bubble bath. Its fucking 14 quid! No way. I'm sending the bag back and pleading eczema. Does this whole company operate by guilting friends and family into purchasing crap quality at ridic prices?

'Lord S would be fuming if he found out - this is soooo not his bag.' ?

I think that you had better take a quick look at this.

A political contact of mine who (at my invitation) has lately been closely-following this thread to determine what ordinary people in Britain really think of 'MLM,' has asked me to put this not unreasonable question to you:

Why, if you are so concerned about MLM and particularly the recent spread of Forever Living in the UK, is the truth about Lord Sugar's involvement with, and endorsement of, MLM, so unwelcome in your eyes?

lastuseraccount123 · 02/07/2015 00:04

oookaaay this thread is taking a really weird turn. who the fuck is lord sugar?

anyway. moving on...

ForeverLivingIgnorance · 02/07/2015 00:08

For one, I really enjoyed Eyespying's very valuable contributions to this discussion. Perhaps the fact that some readers enjoyed it less is not reason enough to try to discourage him from commenting altogether?

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 00:38

lastuseraccount123 - 'Who the fuck is Lord Sugar?'

It seems that my political contact was dramatically over-estimating you.

Fortunately you have now committed what can only be described as 'credibility suicide.'

lastuseraccount123 · 02/07/2015 00:44

eyespy - sounds groovy.

fair call, FL ignorance. I agree eyespy has provided some good shizz to chew on.

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 08:34

lastuseraccount123 - 'Who the Fuck is Lord Sugar?'

Lord Alan Sugar is a celebrity multi-millionaire British businessman whom most people (who know who is) seem to be incapable of conceiving of being involved with a fraud.

'Tropic Skin Care Ltd' which Lord Sugar has very publicly bought into and promoted, has exhibited some (but not all) of the familiar characteristics of an 'MLM income opportunity' racket. However, 'Tropic Skin Care' is only in its initial phase of recruitment and expansion in the UK, and it's not yet clear who or what is actually behind it's instigation or how damaging it might eventually become. The attractive and innocent-looking young Asian woman who ostensibly fronts the company with Sugar, seems to have been brought in because she had achieved celebrity on a business tele-reality show featuring Lord Sugar. Her original idea for a business, involved selling beauty products via traditional retail outlets, not via non-salaried commission agents using an 'Amway' copy-cat endless-chain or 'multi-level' payment plan.

In the USA, Warren Buffett (I presume you know who he is) bought into another 'MLM' company, 'Pampered Chef', via his holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, - and again, most people seem to be incapable of conceiving of Buffett as being involved with a fraud. This alarming development deceived many people into falling victim not only to Pampered Chef, but also to other 'MLM income opportunities,' as well as preventing many victims from facing reality and complaining.

Donald Trump (the celebrity millionaire would-be US President with the outrageous hair) has also been associated with 'MLM,' but most people seem to be more than ready to consider him to be dodgy.

'Tropic Skin Care' looks more like 'Pampered Chef' or 'Mary Kay,' than 'Forever Living.' However, Alan Sugar's involvement with this organization is a very alarming development, because he's given credibility to 'MLM' in Britain and made the possibility of complaints leading to criminal investigation and prosecutions far less likely.

The ammount of stolen money that 'MLM' racketering has generated (we are talking many billions of dollars), means that almost anything, including unlawful inducements, could be the underlying the explanation for Lord Sugar's apparently inexplicable involvement with 'MLM', but no one seem to be investigating these matters.

lastuseraccount123 - many thanks for the great screenshots; saved!

throwingpebbles · 02/07/2015 10:05

eyespying I am curious why your "political contact" would be at all interested in this thread? It is largely a series of personal anecdotes mixed in with your commentary? Although I guess the links to the Facebook pages are rather significant

throwingpebbles · 02/07/2015 10:07

Also, why is not knowing about Lord Sugar "credibility suicide"????

(I know who he is btw)

Hoppinggreen · 02/07/2015 10:37

I think that perhaps eyespying and their "political contact" should go and get a cold drink or something.
You are now not really adding anything to the thread other than to make it far less entertaining than it was and insulting other posters is rude and unhelpful.
We get it, you are on some sort of crusade against mlm schemes and that's fine they should be investigated but could you please go and crusade elsewhere now, the thread is rapidly filling up and I for one would prefer the last threads to be amusing anecdotes rather than huge cut and paste ones from someone with God knows what agenda.

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 10:46

throwingpebbles - Where else would a political researcher be able to find ordinary British people freely-discussing their alarming encounters with 'MLM,' except on a forum like this?

Its difficult enough to find anyone in politics who is interested in 'MLM.' It's a can of worms that no one wants to open.

Also, for some reason, the debate on this forum has not been disrupted by 'MLM' propagandists introducing doubt. This is almost a unique event.

Also it's very interesting for a political researcher to see the reaction of ordinary memebers of the public who sense that a particular 'MLM' is a fraud, when they are confronted with a rational evidence-based analysis of the entire 'MLM' phenomenon as being criminogenic.

Indeed, as I predicted, the knee-jerk reaction of several MN contributors was to cry 'conspiracy theory.' However, I was not prepared for the withdrawl of this unsubstantiated accusation in the face of my challenge.

As to your question: why is not knowing about Lord Sugar "credibility suicide"???

I believe the question asked was: 'who the fuck is Lord Sugar?'

Thus, it's not the fact that lastuseraccount123 was ignorant of Lord Sugar that destroyed his/her credibility. I've absolutely no problem with that. In fact, ignorance of celebrities is usually to a person's credit. It's the fact that laseruseraccount123 hadn't actually followed, or understood, this important aspect of the thread, before politely asking me to get lost, and was evidently proud of this.

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 10:53

Hoppinggreen - Self-evidently my only agenda has been to call for the re-establishment of the rule of law in respect of 'MLM income opportunity' racketeering.

MarthasHarbour · 02/07/2015 11:26

Eyespying this was clearly directed at me as i was the one who commented on Lord Sugars involvement before your post:

Why, if you are so concerned about MLM and particularly the recent spread of Forever Living in the UK, is the truth about Lord Sugar's involvement with, and endorsement of, MLM, so unwelcome in your eyes?

You really are becoming exasperating. Okay i stand corrected, i really thought LS had more respect for real hardworking business-folk. I was wrong. Fine - but i think there was no need for that comment.

I was about to come on and thank you for the insight before you became obtuse towards me and throwingpebbles

=========

Anyway - could someone please come on with some inspirational quotes - any shit-smashing today? Hmm Grin

ForeverLivingIgnorance · 02/07/2015 11:39

Again, I feel we're all exaggerating the trashing of one person a little here. Is it really impossible to continue sharing funny quotes and screenshots if Eyespying provides some more serious posts once in a while?

As said, I really enjoy reading them and it think that goes for more readers. I personally know a few people who have lost money to FLP and what Eyespying writes about indoctrination and mind control sounds very familiar.

Hoppinggreen · 02/07/2015 11:43

martha my FL bot has gone shopping today having already earns lots by 10am while the rest of us are still " stuck in the office"

Hoppinggreen · 02/07/2015 11:45

Not sure if it involved smashing shit but it seems she " loves her team" , it's all going a bit Peter Andre to be honest.

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 11:46

MarthaHarbour - I'm very sorry to have given you that impreesion. This question was not directed at you at all and I'm not sure why you believed it was. All I was trying to do originally was direct you to the truth.

The questioner (who is an experienced political researcher), actually imagined that, for some reason, the two other contributors to whom his enquiry was directed, couldn't accept that Lord Sugar was involved with 'MLM' and, as a result, had asked me to stop posting. The researcher merely wanted to know what this reason was.

In reality, the researcher was looking for something (probably a political angle as sugar is a politician as well as a businessman) which didn't exist, because at least one of these contributors had no idea who Lord Sugar is.

Eyespying · 02/07/2015 12:13

MarthasHarbour -

Obviously, you immediately accepted that Lord Sugar has been involved in MLM, and that you were wrong to think so highly of him previously.

I must confess that I used to think highly of Alan Sugar as well.

ATrueNerd · 02/07/2015 13:08

Not been on here for a while but just seen that "my one" has reached "car plan level 2, £399 extra a month" probably means she has to pay £399 extra a month for a car haha!

MarthasHarbour · 02/07/2015 13:16

Fair enough eyespying your last post is correct on my previous high opinion of LS. To be honest given his previous reputation on the Apprentice for valuing true business innovation rather than get rich quick schemes, i am disappointed in him. My opinion of him has changed (not that he cares! Wink)

Atruenerd Yes that is my understanding of the Car Plan, your pay rise is basically the finance on the car, or i bet it is only about half the finance and you have to pay for the rest Hmm

DinosaursRoar · 02/07/2015 13:19

oooh, "my one" - who I know on FB as I used to work with her, has reach 'manager' level, so guess she's quite good at this (hopefully she's improved her sales pitch since she tried it on me, it was woeful). Even more exciting, seems she's recruited another of our ex-colleagues who's now a SAHM, and I'm FB friends with her too, so it looks like I could have 2 of them on my feed!

that said, new recruit is one of the most efficient and ruthless woman I know, I would put good money on her being good at this. She'd be very convincing recruiting others.
