I've been sucked into forever living!! Why do I feel like the bad guy?

Recently an acquaintance emailed me to ask if I could 'help' her by trying a few products and giving her some feedback. Being the nice person I am I agreed. When the bag of samples turned up the penny dropped and i realised that she's trying to sell them to me (I'm naive I know!). I thought id just buy a little bubble bath. Its fucking 14 quid! No way. I'm sending the bag back and pleading eczema. Does this whole company operate by guilting friends and family into purchasing crap quality at ridic prices?

I've seen the White Range Rover on my FL fb friends posts too. Maybe they all get to drive it for a day and share it around?

I can't cope with it. I have said 100x I'm not interested in going to a business meeting with her, or any other wine and giggles aloe shite nights.

HermioneWeasley · 06/06/2015 09:57

Yes - the white Range Rover! My FL lunatic has one too. But I'm sure she bought hers as I heard the whole saga of how th showroom didn't put a bow on it like she wanted.

Maybe it's a standard thing they're brainwashed into wanting?

Temporaryanonymity · 06/06/2015 10:10

I used to live near the UK HQ for FL. I know a few people have been along and I must say for me it sounded scary. Definitely had all the hallmarks of a cult and probably just as difficult to get out from. The person I knew didn't have a white Range Rover but her mate did.

xenu1 I made my Amway obsessed friend read Merchants of Deception and he still didn't see what was wrong. Shock I did tons of internet research at the time and was shocked at what I found.

Cornonthecob · 06/06/2015 12:21

I have a couple on fb, one guy is doing a video diary of his diet cleanse, his weight loss, food etc yawnI just don't understand why he just can't be consistent in healthy diet and exercise rather than these mega cleanses every few months/weeks! I lose track!

Cornonthecob · 06/06/2015 12:21

Both do Forever living btw!

NorbertDentressangle · 06/06/2015 15:13

I think we're onto something with the white Range Rover.

When I read the posts about them I went back and looked at the FL person I know on fb as I remember seeing a car on her "goals board" and guess what?! ..... it's a white Range Rover Hmm

Hoppinggreen · 06/06/2015 17:10

Yup, my FLFB friend has a white Rangerover - no idea why she leaves it at home and does the school run n a corsa though?

Loval · 06/06/2015 17:10

I don't want anyone to think I've been FB stalking my FL friend's friends Blush, but I've noticed most of them seem to be 'just about to' own either the Range Rover or an Audi.
Also a quick google revealed lots of RRs on FL Pinterest boards.
Have started to read Merchants of Deception.

MarthasHarbour · 06/06/2015 21:04

Urgh am bliddy furious now. I have just stalked someone on one of our local pages and she has reams and reams of motivational quotes. The worst one is a picture of a little girl with a lovely smile and cute ringlets saying 'mummy please dont go to work today' followed by the usual spiel about having a job which enables you to spend time with your kids...

I am raging! i-wanted to comment to say that actually i like being away from my kids for a few hours a week, and get this, i actually love them more than life itself too!

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 06/06/2015 21:58

Goodness, I've just read the thread while waiting for the washing machine to finish. I had no idea. But it probably explains the posters in the newsagent's window about how you can earn a million pounds in ten minutes or some such nonsense.

As my father aways said, if it seems too good to be true then it is too good to be true.

I'm of the generation that would see working in my pjs as slutty, not a sign of success. I will look at the aloe vera plant on the kitchen windowsill with new respect, though.

Fairy13 · 07/06/2015 08:34

corn

You aren't Hampshire way are you? Because I think your friend sounds remarkably like mine.

Or maybe it's because they are all identical robots.

Sandpipernest · 07/06/2015 10:55

My FL friend boasts incessantly about her fabulous lifestyle, best job in the world, living the dream yadda yadda.

Truth is she lives in her parent's house with her own family and the pair of them are working four jobs bewteen them.

They seem to think earning 30 000 a year as a Senior manager is living the high life Hmm

Hoppinggreen · 07/06/2015 11:20

There's on on my FB feed this morning posing next to a white Porsche in the showroom with #she did it!!!!! As a caption
Any muppet can go to a showroom and pose next to a car they will never be able to afford.#foolingnoone

BloodyDogHairs · 07/06/2015 12:28

I've unfollowed my FL friend, last month she gave up work as doing FL gives her the opportunity to earn loads of cash whilst enjoying her child at home. I've noticed tho she seems to spend alot of weekends at Success days and days/evenings at other peoples houses helping them "set up their fabulous business"

She says she is on goal for the car plan next month, every single photo has a reference to a FL product. She even sent me a message saying if I joined her team "imagine how many holiday's you could go on" erm I've managed to go nice holidays without selling overpriced shite!

NorbertDentressangle · 07/06/2015 13:31

I've noticed lots of weekend and evening meetings and team sessions too.

Strange, as during the week there are lots of references to how her fantastic job allows her to spend so much time with her (school age) children Hmm

Loval · 07/06/2015 15:00

Norbert, I wrote upthread that I have two FB friends doing FL.
One of them is a very good friend, has been for nearly 3 decades.
She previously worked 3 days a week, school hours.
I asked her yesterday how many hours a week she was putting into this amazing 'business' of hers, and she said she thinks it's about 60 when she counts the evenings and weekends, training etc! She also has to pay to attend a lot of the events.
I didn't want to ask how much money she's earning, and sadly I suspect she wouldn't be entirely truthful if I did ask.

And yes, I also see lots of comments from her on FB about spending time with the DC and guilt inducing posts like the one Marthas mentioned earlier.

teawamutu · 07/06/2015 15:21

Seriously, where are all the FLbots?

One of the chief joys of threads like this is seeing some deluded twonk trying to convert the haterzz (and being duly handed their aloe-smoothed arses on a plate).

It's NEVER taken this long before. Are they all locked inside their white Range Rover?

MI5agent · 07/06/2015 15:41

Come and talk to us FL people Grin
You know you want to

Tell us how much you earn vs how many hours you work.

poorbuthappy · 07/06/2015 15:51

Have they not turned up yet?
Something definitely amiss. GrinGrin

Sandpipernest · 07/06/2015 15:58

Several peopel I know have dropped out at an early stage because they didn't want to spend Saturday and one night a week in an " Inspirational leadership training day" or harass and pressure their friends and family into buying stuff off them all the time.

Hellohellohowareyou · 07/06/2015 16:10

I got accosted by FLobot whilst on a nice relaxing spa day with my husband. Was in the pool and as soon as she heard the magic words 'maternity leave' she pounced, she was quite shocked when I said that in fact no I didn't hate my job and wasn't dreading going back and wasn't interested in making mega bucks via facebook whilst my baby napped!

DH Has a fb friend who is quite high up in FL and had recently posted a pic of herself with a giant cheque for $65k, that's her annual bonus apparently. She is constantly posting on there about how she is the mum who can say 'yes' to her children and how they want to be able to follow their dreams too.

We are all haters apparently Confused

Hellohellohowareyou · 07/06/2015 16:27

Just reading the FL threads on net mums, the amount of people who are planning on 'sacking their boss' is unreal, the thread im looking at is from 2009, wonder how many of them are still living the dream?

Peacheykeen · 07/06/2015 18:57

Don't get me started on FL the girl who I know who does this harps on about it constantly and has just been made manager and apparently will never have to work again. So sick with the inspirational quotes #bossbabe#sacktheboss#knowyourworth then all the other FL "Huns" join in with " you're such an inspiration" "amazeballs" it's so cringe. I find the recruiting really sleazy and dishonest too a young girl she recently signed up to her "team" believes all her guff about "helping others is what I do , yeah right .
