You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

I am not winning with Nationwide so I will now be writing to FOS, although the woman dealing with my claim says FOS will use same info Nationwide used - I felt she was saying don't bother as you won`t win!

minibmw2010 · 11/11/2012 09:29

I'm sure they'd say that, it's only the cost of a letter to you ... Far more to them potentially, persevere Smile

Please help
I made a claim with HSBC for my old credit card nearly 12 weeks ago now and the only letter from HSBC I had was to say that they had received my complaint and it would take up to 8 weeks. This is now up and I have heard nothing :0(
Has anyone else claimed on a HSBC Gold credit card with PPI ??
What shall I do next ?

sallywebber · 16/11/2012 00:09

I started a PPI claim against HSBC about 6 weeks ago, everything seems to be ok I got in touch with them through this ppi advice site:

www.ppiclaimsguide.com/hsbc-ppi-claims/

did you write to the Coventry address?

Silverswan1964 · 17/11/2012 10:07

If a policy has got unemployment cover on it and it says not for self employed is this a reason to claim ppi if I was self employed i took the loan over the phone but I have signed when they sent me the paperwork any help will be appreciated thank you

Silverswan1964 · 17/11/2012 10:11

Sorry didn't say I have signed the agreement for the loan but the ppi was in there also one premium payment they lent me and intrest on it I think

unity156 · 18/11/2012 00:52

hi silverswan i think you will have a good chance of winning your claim due to the premium of insurance being front loaded. this seems to be a big no no so the banks pay out better when the premium was front loaded.
im battling with lloyds at moment over credit card ppi, they say they have no record of me having ppi on the card!! funny how i have most of the credit card statements all with ppi payments on them. Ive sent copies back and will now have to wait for their reply!!! cant say they didnt miss sell me it if they have no record of me having it!!??

AmIGoingMad · 18/11/2012 11:23

Just seen the post about getting an experience report to check if ppi was on loan- will it have that info? Or is it better to do one of those SAR things- not that I'm entirely sure what that is! I can't find my documents and HSBC 'can't locate' them as I've mentioned in thread I started before finding this gem! Any advice? I'm nearly certain I had ppi on the graduate loan that I had and that I was under impression I had to have it to get loan. Just have no way of physically checking at the moment! Must be better with filing in the future! Blush

AmIGoingMad · 18/11/2012 11:24

Experian not experience!

hopefullclaimer · 18/11/2012 15:46

Silverswan. If u did this over the phone then filled in paperwork at home they could turn rnd and say it was misbought rather than miss sold as there was no one there at time of sale
Unity they did that with me so i sent statements off showing ppi they then took their time replying bk so after a very colourfull email to the ppi ppl it was sorted in 10 days and i got £100 extra compo as they said it was their fault as they hadnt passed the statements on

hopefullclaimer · 18/11/2012 16:20

Amigoingmad, i checked with them in feb and none of the ones i claimed for was on there as it only went bk 6 yrs. If u nip over to moneysavingexpert site thete is a template SAR letter to use and remember to ask for all info they hold for u not just info regarding a loan or credit card

AmIGoingMad · 18/11/2012 19:49

Thank you- I'll get onto that and also fill out one of the questionnaires to send to HSBC to get the ball rolling! Thanks again!

SH05GVY · 22/11/2012 19:17

Hey Unity, Glad to see that your still hard at it hun Grin.

Claim upheld from Blackhorse today but deducting tax from the 8% compensatory figure. They say I will have to claim it back from HMRC. Does anyone know if this is correct. Thanks

unity156 · 23/11/2012 00:35

HaHa SHO5GVY im still trying but dont seem to be getting anywhere fast at the moment. Had many answers back from banks denying any knowledge of ppi or even no knowledge of my account!!! we shall see? also outstanding original claim against associates capital that became citi!! is going to fos.
I dont get the tax thing? i guess they will have had to pay tax on the money so maybe they need to recover it?!!!

Silverswan1964 · 24/11/2012 13:39

Can anyone help with calculation of ppi I took out a ten year loan in 2005 feb so have two years left paid 15,000 ppi plus 7,000 for credit totalling 22,000 paid the 15,000 in one premium borrowed off the bank and added to the loan any ideas what I should get back

SH05GVY · 24/11/2012 21:41

@Silver. You would get back all PPI payments and interest on premiums paid then 8% interest compensatory

SH05GVY · 24/11/2012 23:54

Hi Unity. Have checked letter from Citi. It states that I may be liable for tax not a definate. Also gave details of FLA so shall ring them monday before sending back Acceptance form to Blackhorse.

hopefullclaimer · 25/11/2012 21:25

SH05GVY
Yes its correct what they will do is knock off 20% of the 8% intrest and send it to HMRC if you are a tax payer thats the last u will see of it if your not a tax payer then u have to ring HMRC and claim it bk xx hope that helps

SparklyGothKat · 29/11/2012 15:59

Does anyone know if an offer is sent special delivery? Received a special delivery card through the door as was out and it's the only thing I can think it might be?

DialMforMummy · 03/12/2012 20:07

Just to let everyone know that I got an offer today for £2k . Very happy with that. Xmas Smile
Thank you for the inspiration everybody. And yes, stay away from companies, the process is pretty easy and straightforward.

t0lk13n · 03/12/2012 20:18

Lucky you Nationwide turned us down! Letter has gone to FOS but I am not holding out any hope!

Silverswan1964 · 03/12/2012 21:56
