You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

Am well jealous people have had positive communications. Nationwide don`t want to know! Boo hiss Nationwide.

Jinglemyalanbells · 04/12/2012 19:29

Can you claim for a past loan that you have o details of anymore?

DialMforMummy · 04/12/2012 19:42

Yes just ask your bank for the loan number.

t0lk13n · 04/12/2012 22:00

It is all on a mortgage! Nationwide are no better than the banks. Thought they were different but they are not on my side! Will soon be removing products from them and keep annoying them on FB and Twitter - won't achieve anything but will make me feel better!

tolk Have you been to the Ombudsman? My case is with them. It's the last chance saloon but they have a good record of overturning descisions and certainly worth a go?

AuntieMaggie · 08/12/2012 12:48

Morning.

Received a letter this morning rejecting claim with mbna basically because according to them it was obvious that it was a separate product and I digitally signed for it. They've included a copy of the form with the ppi box checked and two other options - the ppi box was already checked when I applied for the card... will try to upload pic to profile...

So any tips for taking this forward with the financial ombudsman???

AuntieMaggie · 09/12/2012 14:23

Bump.

t0lk13n · 09/12/2012 17:19

Shakey...we are waiting for them to deal with it...have received an email from ombudsman to look at it....just waiting.

my case against barclay car is with FO. They have taken it to next team as Barclaycard have failesd to respond to them. Now they will make decision without the information from Barclaycard.
I have now found final letter i recieved from Barclaycard stating why they turned me down BUT do i send it??

I would recommed calling FO now and then as they have had mine for 6 months and have only acted when i called. They said they have to give barclaycard time to respond, but im sorry they say 21 days and then dont follow up. Why should big companies like Barclays get a chance, they dont give people a chance when they are bugging you for bill money!

so do i send letter...

starlight888 · 14/12/2012 14:43

lisad123 · 14/12/2012 16:43

Do not use a company they take atleast 25% for something that you can do easily

starlight888 · 14/12/2012 17:15

do i need to write a letter aswell as filling the forms out?

AuntieMaggie · 18/12/2012 20:33

All i wrote in my letter was to say i would like you to investigate my complaint and heres the form.

Santander have said it was obvious it was optional, you could've cancelled, blah blah.blah... however as i was a student it was missold so to provide them with evidence i wasn't working...

We received a letter a few days ago completely out of the blue from a company we had quite a few personal loans with from 1998 onwards stating they had had another look at our acccount and had make a cock up basically (originally said a couple of years ago NO CLAIM!) and would now like to put things right. P.S; The loans have long since been paid in full. The loans ran concurrent in that we had a loan and part the way through it we got another loan (a top up if you like) which paid the original loan off and gave us new funds. Did that 3 times over in all and yes we had PPI with all the loans. When we applied for the first loan back in 1998 we were told in no uncertain terms we had to accept PPI otherwise no loan! At the time we were 'black-listed' so only the odd company would even look at us...at a price of course! Ok so the company would now like to refund us which is good but the only doubt we have is that on the form which we both have to sign it states..."the refund of premiums and cancellation of any remaining payment protection cover will act as full and final settlement of any claim or complaint about this Payment Protection Policy". Now that in our eyes is all well and good BUT there are no figures stating how much they owe us and are about to refund us etc? So we both sign, send the letter back and within 28 days they refund whatever is owing to us...but we don't know that whatever they are about to refund us is correct or not do we? Whatever they say goes it seems. We are totally clueless as to what is owing to us. Surely we should have been sent a statement/breakdown of facts etc? Remember above..."will act as full and final settlement of any claim". So they pay us say £50 into our bank account, how do we have any comeback if that was the case? Too late they would say, you signed the letter accordingly. Hope someone reading this understands what i've written and can hopefully advise? Thank You.

Shakey1500 · 28/12/2012 09:21

Sounds a bit strange and no way would I sign until I knew, and was happy with the amount to be refunded. They are possibly hoping that many WILL just sign and they can get away with refunding less. I would ring them and ask for a breakdown before agreeing to anything. Or ring the FSO for advice.

lisad123 · 28/12/2012 09:36

I think this might be a new ruling as dh had a letter from Barclays yesterday asking him if he thought it was missold to fill in form and send back.
I would call them and ask for a final settlement figure. We also had a letter from Halifax a year ago saying they made a mistake in 2008 and had a refund!

I had a letter from the FO the week before Christmas telling me my claim would take 12 months to be reviewed.

That's great lisad :)

Was it actually the FSO that rang you or Barclays?

My complaint has been with the FSO since June/July. I know it takes ages and I don't want to hassle them as I'm in no hurry for any money that may be offered. Would be nice to know that it may happen soon ish though!

SH05GVY

Just found this site and noticed your November 24th post re Black Horse. I too recently received a letter stating that Black Horse had upheld my PPI complaint. Have you received payment from them yet? I posted the acceptance letter mid December but still no cheque.
