You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

Hi,has anybody sent a claim to the fos for a HSBC loan and they have upheld it?we have just received this letter and wondered if HSBC are likely to send more evidence and disagree with what the fos have said. This has been going on for over 15 months now.

Dibble75 · 07/03/2014 13:02

I made a claim with Lloyd's in August 2012 whilst on Mat Leave I didn't expect any money back imagine the suprise I had when I came home from hospital to a letter offering me £12,000!
I'm now waiting on a decision on my £4000 credit card from Lloyd's. Fingers crossed I get this as it'll go towards my kids first holiday

themoneyone · 11/03/2014 16:19

Quick question - does this only apply to loans, ccs and mortgages in the last 6 years or can I claim for every one I've ever had??

matthahn · 27/03/2014 17:45

Hello can anyone help me out here. My loan was for 2.5k for 1 year.

the PPI was £15 per month for 9 months as i paid off the loan 3 months early.

Can anyone work out for me how much I can expect to receive. I did the claim myself and it was with Lloyds back. Thanks

Shakey1500 · 28/03/2014 20:48

About £145.40 Smile Smile

matthahn · 29/03/2014 13:25

I thought there was a minimum compensation payout as well. Doesn't look like I'll get much

Shakey1500 · 29/03/2014 17:21

How much did you think the minimum was? Not heard of that to be honest. Still almost â?¬150 is better than nothing Smile Smile

matthahn · 31/03/2014 11:12

Someone on this thread said a minimum of £200 for inconvenience but maybe that's not right. Yeah you are right better than nothing

matthahn · 01/04/2014 15:22

I got £396.48 :)

ginmakesitallok · 14/04/2014 17:42

We've just been offered £5,500 from Halifax, and there are 2 more complaints outstanding. Has come at a good time, didn't even have to complete the questionnaire. It sat around the house for ages (lots going on, never got round to finishing it off), they called me, 10 minute conversation. So easy. Woo Hoo!

SnowBells · 15/04/2014 01:19

I got offered just a little over £2k from Halifax which is great. It was just the letter though. Still waiting for the cheque (which should come within 28 days of the letter).

Hi

I came across this thread when I was going through my PPI stuff and thought I share this - in case anyone else is looking for help / advice on how to claim their PPI etc

If you are looking at claiming PPI have a look at the financial ombudsman website they help with financial issues they are an independent body. They were very helpful

Hope this helps!

When we moved our mortgage to Bradford and Bingley we were told we had to take a policy out with Scottish Provident and to be honest it was not until we came to pay our mortgage off that we realised it was still in place as we did have other policies with them. To be honest we never thought we needed it and as we thought we never did as my husband had been in work continuous for many years and I had returned to work after a family gap. We were paying £21.23 pm over a 10 year period and we would like to know if there is a claim there for any miss-selling. Of course the Bradford and Bingley are no longer in business and we had already moved our mortgage to the Yorkshire prior to this occurrence so not sure were if anywhere we stand. Can anyone advise?

Regards

who do i contact about claiming back ppi dorothy perkins store card.
Don't want to go though these ppi companies ,want to do it myself.
many thanks

Shakey1500 · 05/11/2014 21:13

YES! 2years and 8 months after first posting on this thread, the ombudsman has upheld my complaint against PPI mis-selling on my overdraft. I had a previous claim against loan PPi that was also upheld a year ago.

Just to wait for Barclays to make the offer now Grin

It'll be interesting though because the ombudsman's letter states that Barclays have indicated they MAY not have all my records (it dates back to 1999). If the do find all my records they'll be able to repay me an accurate amount. If not they will pay me "the average amount paid to similar claims" which apparently, the Ombudsman agree is a fair approach. Now, I reckon I know roughly what I'm owed..watch this space for what I'm actually offered Smile

chunkydunky27 · 16/11/2014 16:16

I just got a PPI claim back from Welcome Finance - £3500 in total for a £5000 loan.

I went into arrears a few years ago and have been in debt management from 2010. But this still upheld - £1900 of the PPI went on clearing the balance and the extra £1600 came to me!

Just filled in my forms for Ulsterbank and Barclays as well - you don't ask, you don't get!

sassy1970 · 23/01/2015 00:54

I purchased a car through Welcome Finance back in October 2002, and at the time i couldn't have got the credit without taking out PPI - the car ended up costing me over £12k because the PPI payments were almost as much per month as the car costs!!

I wrote to them 2 weeks ago with my account number, and have had a letter back from them already saying thank you blah de blah, and we are looking into your complaint - watch this space!! Hopefully will be about £5k

Buddypurdy1 · 04/02/2016 12:41

Help!

Need to look into PPi reclaim but the more I read the more confused I'm getting to the point of forgetting it! Obviously this is why I've put it off for so long. Have seen a form on Martin Lewis site but do I send one of those to all the past banks, stores, etc.

Over the years we have had numerous store cards, in my name and my husbands.

I had loans years ago when I was single, didn't see anywhere on form to put old names, addresses etc??????

Please please someone help me x

Grumpyoldblonde · 04/02/2016 15:14

BuddyPurdy,
It is easy, honestly (18k claimed by myself!!)
Make a list of who you think you may have had PPI with. Bank? Credit card? did you have overdraft protection? packaged bank account? Do you have a good reason to claim? were you really missold, not everyone was you know, it was a valid insurance for some.
Then simply write a brief letter to each (find the address online, many have a dedicated {PPI address) just ask them to look into it, give your address, any old address, any past names used, obviously account numbers if you do have them (don't worry if not)
See MSE website PPI forum, you will find addresses there. Keep your letter to the point, no rambling, just "Did I have PPI on this account? ) is fine, they are obliged to check.
Go on, it is no more than the cost of a stamp.

SuperFlyHigh · 14/02/2016 18:00

Can someone help,me please? I stupidly threw away my Egg account statements (credit card) and I don't know how much PPI they added each month even though I am sure I tried to opt out of it.

It was from 3/11/2005 to 02/01/2011 so a few years yet the bastards are trying to give me £13.23 and £3.45 is interest!

Of course I reported this to Financial Ombudsman who now want further proof which I don't have eg the amount!

They also said that I purchased CRP policy with egg (payment protection) but apparently this is hidden in a tick box thing on their website as I never would have agreed to it otherwise and didn't know what it was. Egg actually state this should have been made clear to me blah di blah.

I'm supposed to send this off ASAP so if someone could give me an answer please I'd be eternally grateful!

Grumpyoldblonde · 16/02/2016 15:04

Do you have bank statements showing the direct debit to egg credit card? that would be a starting point, otherwise Egg (now Barclaycard I think) should show you details of their working out of the redress. Ask them to tell you how they worked it out.

ouchmyfanjo · 26/02/2016 02:37

Hi.haven't read all of thread but wondered if there is a list of old credit cards. I don't have paperwork anymore and am trying to remember which I had eg was Mbna the one with the goldfish on it?! Desperately trying to remember, any help appreciated!

ilovesooty · 28/02/2016 02:08

I think Goldfish card debt was transferred to Barclaycard.
