You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

Hi All
After reading here for while now i have took on 3 ppi claims, 1....with the Bank of Scotland for a cc i have had for 14 years, 2....Santander against my mortgage, 3....with M&S for a couple of loans going back years.
The bank of Scotland issue is already in the hands of the Ombudsman.
Nothing from Santander just yet but i have phoned and they are on with it.
Had a huge offer from M&S for which they say they will pay out within 4 weeks :-)

My question today is how long are the banks taking to pay out ?

TequilaMockinBird · 25/10/2012 07:27

SH05, go you! We could make a living out of this Wink

Poole, it should only take a couple of weeks from when they receive your acceptance back, I think it really depends on how many claims they are working on though. If you don't have it within 3 weeks then I'd chase them.

Pooleemad · 25/10/2012 14:50

Thanks Tequila :-)

Its been 10 days and nothing yet i will keep you posted.

Excellent thread BTW :-)

I've finally pulled my finger out and applied for an Experian report - I did get into quite a middle financially when I was younger and had several cards and loans (Blush) but I always specifically said no to PPI as I was employed, so if I have ever paid any I assume I can find out via my experian report and then my lender/providers? Is that how it works?

SH05GVY · 25/10/2012 23:21

LLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL. You can talk Tequila. Funny that what some1 said to me after my Citi victory which was overshadowed by the Barclays debarcle. Concentrating the next few days on correspondence of all aspects in my life. Hoping a job is at the end of it WineThanks

seabuckthorn · 26/10/2012 14:08

Just to say with the PPI money I claimed from Lloyds I paid off my credit card today and closed it! So I am officially credit card free!
I have money to spare!

SH05GVY · 27/10/2012 00:13

Well done seabuck

Whatiswitnit · 27/10/2012 11:36

Earlier this year, DH and I were talking to the Consumer Credit Counselling Service about our huge debt. Things couldn't have been much worse for us. Then a friend of DH's told us about his PPI claim and urged us to do the same.

DH had been missold PPI by Barclaycard and about a month ago we found that the complaint was upheld and they were paying him back £19,000. It's pretty much the end to all our money problems.

The process was very straight forward; DH rang Barclaycard to find out how long he'd been paying PPI, cancelled the policies and asked for a claim form. That came in the post, was completed and returned and a few weeks later the decision was made.

Silverswan1964 · 28/10/2012 11:03

I have phoned to check if I have been paying ppi and have been told that I have five with black horse and four with lloyds since 2005 but haven't made claims yet don't know how many I can claim on is there a limit on how many you can claim on I was self employed and had two private covers at the same time that covered me for sickness accident and life please help thankyou

SH05GVY · 28/10/2012 12:48

Put your claims in Silverswan. If they say No. Go to the Financial Ombudsman, who will find in your favour due to your Self Employment status. Blackhorse complaints dept in Cardiff and Lloyds in Nottingham. Will post addresses if you can not find them

Silverswan1964 · 29/10/2012 09:21

Thank you I have b l r I buissness loan repayment insurance hope I can still claim

Silverswan1964 · 29/10/2012 12:29

I have found one of my loan agreements and it says we recommend you take this insurance and the box been ticked does this mean I have been misold

ss1973 · 29/10/2012 13:59

i had 6 loans with lloyds with ppi and sent all applications back
£17,500 2007-10
£6000 2007-10
£17,000 FOR 8 MONTHS 2002
£25,000 FOR 1 YEAR 2004
£25,000 2004 FOR 18 MONTHS
£25,000 2005 FOR 8 MONTHS

should i recieve money back on them all as i had my own company insurnace at the time, and if so any ideas how much i should expect ?
thanks for any help

also had an egg credit card about 10 years ago but have idea as to find out old account or if it was carged ppi

Violet77 · 29/10/2012 17:51

Is there a tine limit to claiming? I had a personal loan around 1997 time.
Please say no :-)

t0lk13n · 29/10/2012 17:58

I tried to claim from Nationwide for mortgage ppi but have been turned down but am appealing on the grounds that it was a hard sell and we didn`t need it....still awaiting their reply! I am not sure we will be lucky enough.

SH05GVY · 01/11/2012 18:57

Abbey National/Santander reached a new low today. FOS here we come Grin

GrumpySwivelHead · 02/11/2012 21:09

Violet no time limit for claiming Grin

t0lk it's worth persevering - if you get turned down by the original provider it's always worth taking your complaint to the FOS

ss1973 if you had your own insurance to cover you for unemployment, sickness or death you should have a good chance of getting your complaint upheld. You can write to Egg (they're Barclaycard now) to check if you had PPI

Silver it doesn't matter if the box was ticked or not - what's important is your circumstances at the point of sale. If you didn't need the product (you had other products to cover you) or weren't eligible to actually claim on it (for being self employed) then you have a valid claim imho

t0lk13n · 03/11/2012 10:09

We have complained again to Nationwide 10 days ago in response to being turned down and they havent got back to us yet. I sent it so the head office had to sign to say it was received and it hasnt been sent back to us so I know they received it.
Will wait a little longer before contacting them again then if no joy will send our case to FOS.
Thank you.

unity156 · 06/11/2012 23:26

hi t0lk13n , I like you have had my complaint turned down with lloyds even though it was a hard sale, so i think its time to try the fos and see what they have to say, I also have one claim outstanding with citi financial but it was a loan when they were associates capital. they are ignoring all my correspondence over this and it is now eight weeks so letter sent out to them today giving them seven days to reply or off to the fos with that one aswell!!!

SleeveOfWizard · 06/11/2012 23:51

I finally started to contact various companies tonight. Well this afternoon, to be fair. Barclaycard say I never had it, and had no record of a Barclays masterloan I had out. I've written to RBS and still have M&S to do. To be honest, I know I never ticked the option to pay more for the insurance and on the forms from MSE, there is a section to include the ppi reference number, which I don't have. I don't hold out much hope, except I was hoping to have been tricked by the interest put on the statement by barclaycard.

t0lk13n · 09/11/2012 18:03

I rang nationwide as they have repLiedand have been turned down again. They didnt send me all the paper work I asked for and she kept saying she understood my anger and frustration . when i said she didnt unless she was having problems with her mortgage provider she said that she can understand as she deals with lots of people going through the same thing. Whilst I didnt swear I was very vociferous. She basically told me that because we felt it was a hard sell and were advised in branch it was heresay and therefore couldnt base anything on what mighjt have been said. She also said FOS will only act on evidence they send them! I told her I had to end the call as she was getting on my nerves. So basically they can tell you anything when selling you a product as it was heresay!!! I ALSO ASKED FOR HER MANAGER OR HER IMMEDIATE BOSS name AND SHE WOULDN'T...SAID HE WAS ON HOLIDAY! I have only just calmed down two hrs later.
