You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me I had a loan back in 2002 and I cannot remember who it was with. I swear I got from a TV advert. It was for £20,000 to £25,000. Ocean Finance keeps springing to mind but I have called them and they say that I didn't have anything with them. The only other person that would know would be my husband but unfortunately he was killed in 2006. Can anyone remember any tv adverts for loans around this time please.

SH05GVY · 16/10/2012 10:12

Hi Zolawat. Previous threads have suggested to write to Experian or Equifax as they show previous creditors and account numbers

lighthousekeeping · 16/10/2012 10:16

My details are with the Ombudsman as well. Its taking forever but, Im optimistic. Kind of.

HerRoyalVagisty · 16/10/2012 10:44

I had either a loan or credit card with Egg about 10 years ago. I know I was missold PPI and remember cancelling it about a year later. I have no paper work. Is there anything I can do?

TIA

TequilaMockinBird · 16/10/2012 11:56

Herroyal, yes you can still write to them. They may not have the details either after 10 years but its worth a try.

SH05, you probably won't be surprised to hear that the postman has been now, and still no cheque Angry. I'm really running out of ideas with Citi now, bastards!

SH05GVY · 16/10/2012 16:52

TequilaShockAngryConfusedSad I'm speechless. Have you been noting the names of the individuals who have been calling from Citi? Best send another email naming and shaming. Major S**t Organisation. Was hoping for another positive thread. Everything crossed for 2moro xx

hopefullclaimer · 16/10/2012 17:50

Zola u could try the credit ref ppl which you can do online but not all info is on there as they only go bk for so long and because its 10 yrs ago may not be there just depends on when you paid it off ie if it was still running 5 yrs ago u could be in luck xx

TequilaMockinBird · 16/10/2012 20:22

Yes I have the names. I'm out tomorrow morning so you can bet your bottom dollar it will arrive then and so be taken to the sorting office Angry. Once I've received it, I may put another claim in for the extra 2 months interest!

SparklyGothKat · 16/10/2012 20:35

I didn't think I had ppi on anything. Was sorting paperwork last week and found a letter about ppi on my Barclays overdraft from 2007. I then found a statement from 2006 which showed I was paying it then. It was a joint account but the insurance was in my name only. Have phoned and said I want to claim but will it being a joint account matter? It was with my ex.

TequilaMockinBird · 16/10/2012 21:10

Sparkly, if the insurance was only in your name then I wouldn't have thought it would matter.

Easygoing23 · 17/10/2012 10:12

Hello, I sent in a complaints letter for PPI on two loans I had in 2003, The second letter I got said it would take a further 8 weeks. The time has now passed. I did phone them and they said its still under investigation, shall I sit and be patient or phone them up again. The last letter I got was 9th of August. Cheers everyone! Great site.

SH05GVY · 17/10/2012 10:52

AngryAngryAngryBarclays claim extra checks have to be done before they will allow me to spend my PPI money. Have a friend who works in Barclays, they can do the same everyday apparently. New bank account has already been opened so Barclays on borrowed time AngryAngryAngry

SH05GVY · 17/10/2012 11:05

Tequila Just read that CEO of Citigroup resigned yesterday. Hope your Recorded Delivery collection card has arrived Hmm

swooosh · 17/10/2012 11:06

I have two credit cards, accounts still open but not used (paying off) will it just be on the statement if I am paying PPI? and if I am then what's the next step? Many thanks

TequilaMockinBird · 17/10/2012 17:49

Easygoing, send them another letter (recorded delivery) stating that it has been over 8 weeks and if you do not have a response within 'X' days/weeks, you will write to FOS.

Swoosh, yes it will be on your statement.

SH05, guess what? As predicted, got home today to a card from Royal Mail!! Going to pick my cheque up from the sorting office in the morning Grin. Can't believe the CEO has resigned, must've been my letter that pushed him over the edge Wink

Bonkerz · 17/10/2012 18:54

Yay thanks guys. Lloyds have paid out £1300 ppi claim! Shocked when I checked bank and it was in credit ;0)

SH05GVY · 17/10/2012 18:55

Tequila, Cheque attached to bottom of letter. Best make a copy before banking it, for safety sakes

Easygoing23 · 17/10/2012 19:20

Thanks Tequila I will try that.

TequilaMockinBird · 17/10/2012 20:36

Well done Bonkerz, enjoy spending it Grin

SH05 thanks, I'll do that. Still wont believe it until I have it in my hands though!

TequilaMockinBird · 18/10/2012 08:34

I. Have. The. Cheque.

unity156 · 18/10/2012 08:47

tequila, thats fab enjoy it! there is hope of them eventually paying up hooray!!!

DialMforMummy · 18/10/2012 09:27

What reason did you give to justify your PPI claim?
I am sorry if the has been covered before but I really can not face going through 28 pages of thread after the night I have had.

TequilaMockinBird · 18/10/2012 13:27

Thanks unity, there's definitely hope!

DialM, PPI was missold if you didn't want it, need it or didn't know you had it. So people who were self-employed or had existing medical conditions didn't need it as it was useless to them. If you worked for an employer who offered redundancy, sick pay etc then you didn't need it. Sometimes, companies added it on without telling people, or told them that they had a better chance of being accepted for the loan/cc if they agreed to it.

SH05GVY · 18/10/2012 19:35

Congrats Tequila..Grin..Wine...Unity your next

seabuckthorn · 18/10/2012 23:57

Just wanted to say thank you. I read this thread a few months back and wasn't sure if I could claim but I went through the Lloyd website and got £500 offered to me today.
I'm really grateful, it pays off my CC and some money spare.
So thank you.
