You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

hi SHO5GVY, I cant beleive how much trouble you are having in getting your money. I will have to see how quick they apply my refund to my account. also not to worry you but I have just looked on moneysavingexpert and on there someone hasnt been paid out since july and are struggling to receive there money that they are owed. Please keep me informed . Have you phoned the financial obudsman over this? I just wonder were they stand with helping as the ppi has been upheld we just havent received payment!

SH05GVY · 03/10/2012 21:53

Hi Unity. Spoke to the Moneyadvice Service today who confirmed that Citifinancial has broken every guideline in my case, and to contact FSO. In doing so, Citifinancial will put my case on hold and will not pay me until judgement ordered by FSO as they know there is an 18 month backlog of complaints.
I checked the FSA register to make sure Citifinancial in on there. There come under Citibank based at Canary Wharf and the Director who is Head of Complaints is Ian Clark. I have this evening penned him a letter of the events since August 2012 and shall be posting it Registered post in the morning. Will also be forwarding a complaint to FSO to make them rule on additional compensation to those adversly affected by the despicable delay and behaviour of Citigroup overall.

unity156 · 04/10/2012 00:03

hi SHO5GVY, I cant beleive all this but going back to the person on moneysavingexpert that hadnt received there money. They have put another post on saying that they had been paid out and that they think that this is due to them sending a letter stating citi financial had 7days to pay up or they would take the complaint to the FLA. I would send them a letter threatening the fso or fla and give them 7days to reply and see what happens. then if nothing then take it to fso to do the work but obviously this will take longer for you to get your money. Oh it will cost citi financial more if it does go to fso so hopefully that is what makes them pay up. good luck. I will keep you posted on my efforts with them.

TequilaMockinBird · 08/10/2012 19:53

SH05, I too am having problems with Citi.

My paperwork was sent back to them in July, I have still not received my cheque.

I've chased on the phone and in emails and my cheque was apparently ordered around the same time as yours. I last rang on Thursday gone, spoke to a supervisor and told him that they had 7 days to get a cheque to me or I would go to FOS. He said he would pass this on to the department dealing.

I'm not holding my breath. I've claimed lots of PPI back now and never had problems like I've had with Citi Angry

unity156 · 09/10/2012 00:12

tequilamockinbird, I m getting a bit stressed reading all this problems with citi, I tried e-mailing them but you may find that the e-mail address doesnt actually receive the mails, mine eventually came back failed delivery.
When you phone you just get people at a call centre that only have a screen and a set routine that they say. I think the best way to get somewhere is to send a recorded delivery letter thats what I am going to do in a few weeks if my account hasnt been sorted. good luck!!

purpleflower123 · 09/10/2012 00:19

I've just tried to claim on a barclayloan but they've refused it. How do I go through the ombudsman? I believe I was missold it as they told me I wouldn't be approved for the loan without. I only tried claiming it after lurking on here.

TequilaMockinBird · 09/10/2012 07:32

Purpleflower, the details should be in the refusal letter that Barclays sent. Failing that, moneysavingexpert have a step by step guide which includes a section on taking it to the FOS.

Unity they are receiving my emails because I put read receipts on and they are coming back as read. Although they never reply to you on email, which infuriates me!

I googled an organization chart for them and also cc'd in some important people on the last email I sent. Not that it's done any good though!

I may give them a ring today and see if the cheque has been raised yet.

hopefullclaimer · 09/10/2012 07:34

Hi purple was it a defo no go or did they say if you semd in more info they will reconcider? If they did check to see if loan was front loaded ppi( full amount of ppi added at start of loan then intrest added on top) as this is one of the best reasons for miss sell. If you do need to go to the fos there should of been a leaflet in with the letter but if not just google em giv em a ring n they will tell you what you need to do xx

hopefullclaimer · 09/10/2012 13:28

updates from welcome and lloyds today
welcome have said a offer is being made they just need some1 to take a look at the figures n sign off on it. so nearly finnished with themSmile
lloyds have said the dreaded we need more time letter is winging its way to meSad

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 09/10/2012 14:01

If I have paid ppi on credit cards or mortgage will it be clear as day on the statements? Also is it possible that I might have paid it on my overdraft? There is nothing obvious on the statement but I just want to check as my overdraft is a bit huge!

mummydays · 09/10/2012 14:17

Hi guys. long time lurker first time posting. after seeing such success for a lot of you i am going to take a chance and see if i can claim back ppi on my credit cards.
my question is, it was a long time ago and i cannot remember whether the forms were filled out in the bank or at home. I suspect that they were in branch as i think things were mostly done that way years ago when i took out the cards. does it matter that i can't remember and is there anything I shouldn't say when i make a claim. i feel that i was missold as i do not remember being told i was paying ppi and was definitely not given an option for taking out a policy with a third party. at the time i had only just started work and only planned to use my card for a little retail therapy and didn't need ppi to cover it as my wages, sick pay, redundancy would have covered it. since i've been a stay at home mum for years so paying ppi has been pointless. i was not aware i was paying it and certainly not that i needed to tell them if my circumstances changed. Any advice would be fantastic. Thank you x

good luck to all of you still awaiting your claims x

TequilaMockinBird · 09/10/2012 14:24

Fuckadoodle, yes it should show on your statements unless it was front-loaded onto a loan.

It's sometimes called something slightly different - overdraft protection, card protection etc. basically, if its insurance then chances are its PPI!

TequilaMockinBird · 09/10/2012 14:25

Mummydays, it doesn't matter, no. Fill out the form and send it off, you need to state on there that you didn't need it because work covered you for redundancy, sick etc.

mummydays · 09/10/2012 14:28

Thanks Tequila, is it better to call the PPI number that banks provide or to send them the form. i have so much debt at the moment i will be soooo soooo happy if i can get some money back (fingers crossed tightly)

TequilaMockinBird · 09/10/2012 16:17

Send them the form. If you ring up, they will usually just send you the form out to complete anyway tbh.

Good luck, let us know how you get on Smile

mummydays · 09/10/2012 17:55

Thank you for the advice. I'll fill it out tomorrow and see what they say. Just a little unsure as to whether it will be unsuccessful if I can't remember exact details - I will have to answer can't remember to quite a few questions. I took my cc out probably pre 2000 so I'm guessing they may not still have original paperwork anyway.

awaywego1 · 09/10/2012 21:19

Just wanted to add encouragement! I put off doing this for months thinking it would be a right hassle-filled in the form to HSBC thinking I would be owed a couple of hundred pounds and got an offer today (8 weeks later) for £3000. No hassle at all and I can now pay off my credit cards etc Grin

SH05GVY · 10/10/2012 00:55

Hi Unity & Tequila. Still no cheque from Citi. They have had a few days grace from my badgering due to hospital appts. Back on the case in morning.

TequilaMockinBird · 10/10/2012 07:47

SH05, I had a call from the executive complaints team at Citi after sending another email which I also cc'd to their CEO.

I should have my cheque by the end of the week Grin

I also told them in the email that they had 7 days to get the cheque to me or I would log a complaint with FOS and FLA.

This complaint with Citi has gone on for over a year now and I am beyond pissed off now.

TequilaMockinBird · 10/10/2012 07:48
unity156 · 10/10/2012 11:20

Hi tequila could you give me the e-mail address and address for the ceo please as I may aswell get ready to do battle.!! I hope you receive your cheque soon.

mummydays · 10/10/2012 13:06

Sorry to ask questions again, I have little confidence in myself with forms . Just filling out the questionnaire and I'm wondering if these reasons are enough for section E

  • no explanation of ppi was given
  • not asked if I wanted/needed or was eligible for ppi
  • not told that it was optional to account
  • not told that my changing circumstances would effect ppi (left work for kids 11 years ago and still paying ppi dutifully)
  • unaware from the offset what the repayment cover amounts on my statement were for assuming it was just standard costs/interest.
My summary is that is was added I and underhand way and that I did not and do not need this cover.

Do you think that's enough or that there is anything there that I shouldn't say. I don't want to say the wrong thing. I do not know if the form was already ticked for ppi but from reading I think that lots of the older ones were.

I'm pretty sure that I was under the impression at the time that ppi was compulsory for application but cannot remember everything.

Also B4 asks if bank gave advice or recommended insurance. I can't remember exacts so was going to tick can't remember but now worry that this will contradict the facts above.

Hope I make sense and very grateful to you all for your help and support. Thanks x

mummydays · 10/10/2012 13:10

Oops sorry should have checked better my summary statement should say - it was added in an underhand way and that I did not and do not need this cover. (Couldn't see that I could edit post anywhere)

SH05GVY · 10/10/2012 14:55

Hi Tequila. I myself have just called them again and was told my cheque was posted yesterday so I should have it in the morning. As requested by Unity, pls post email address which has been getting a response from Citi.

ps Everything imaginable is crossed but keep breathing Hmm

TequilaMockinBird · 10/10/2012 16:54

Keeping my fingers crossed for you SH05!

I was told yesterday that I'd have it by the end of the week, but then got another call today to say it may not be with them until Monday so I'll definitely have it by Tuesday Hmm

Not happy so they have promised to ring me once its there with them and then post out by recorded delivery.

I'm on my phone and work laptop (where I sent email from) is in the office. All I did was google Citigroup CEO and then used his name in the email. I think his surname is Pandit? So [email protected]

No idea if he saw it but at least I got a response!
