You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

I would give it two weeks and call to check its received. They have 90 days to give you an answer.

Rachh6 · 12/09/2012 22:14

Lisad123 I put my claim in with FO at the end of last year and this week have finally received my response which was good news so would advise anyone to pursue it and just be patient!

mollyando · 17/09/2012 16:38

Hi all, I got a letter back last week to say that Lombard Direct (RBS/Natwest) will pay out on a second loan I had with them. They claim the first and third loans didn't have PPI on them? I find this hard to believe if the middle loan did and these were all top up loans? I don't have paperwork and they claim they can't find the paperwork either to check, the loans were year on year 2002, 2003 and 2004....Just wanted some advice....

hopefullclaimer · 18/09/2012 10:38

hi molly,
when was the last loan paid off?? i only ask as the banks are ment to keep info for 6 yrs after they are compleated but if your loans are part of a chain they should keep em for 6 yrs after the last loan i the chain(if u get what i mean?) you could try writing to them and askin for a copy of the t&cs i think its £1 . not 100% sure . have you looked on mse? there are some fab posters on there and they are very helpfull(not that there isnt on here lol) .if you go there and search ppi descusion part 5 they maybe more in the know than i am xx

mollyando · 18/09/2012 20:35

Thanks so much for replying, funny enough I went through my online statement last night and saw that the whole lot was cleared in December 2005? Just over the 6 years! Can't help thinking it's all bollocks but not sure why they think they would get away with this if I can take it further with FO.....I'll have a look at MSE, thanks again for your time xxx

unity156 · 18/09/2012 22:55

Well got letter back from citi financial acknowledging my complaint and have said they will look into the circumstances. This aparently will take them four weeks then they wil right to me to inform me as what is happening with my case. they then go onto say that an outcome will be made within the eight week time frame. if I dont like the outcome they say I have the right to take it to the FO so we shall see!!

SH05GVY · 20/09/2012 00:21

Wrote to Citi financial July 26 re complaint. Send a complaint form requesting copies of PPI details, received and returned Aug 1. Letter dated Aug 20 complaint upheld received Aug 23, returned signed acceptance agreement the same day. Letter stated cheque would be received 10 to 15 working days after receipt of agreement. Rang today for the third time re cheque. Agreement received Aug 27. Cheque only ordered on Sept 14 and will take 10 to 15 working days to be received. Good luck unity156

I'm playing cat and mouse with Santander at the minute. I'm making a claim against them regarding Debenhams and GE Capital bank. I took the store card out in 1995 so pre regulation.
Anyone won a claim against them yet?
It's off to fos now, as they took forever to find my details too. But, they sent a sarcastic letter back Angry.
A copy of the application was sent to me, which had obviously been filled in at the cash desk, as it's not my writing, and the ppi section is even ticked by the shop assistant.
Anyone else won a claim against them? And how?

unity156 · 20/09/2012 09:04

thanks for the info SH05GVY at least you got the complaint upheld, lets hope you get your cheque. Please keep me informed. I hope that my case is upheld but I guess we just want to get our money back without any stress.

HairyPotter · 22/09/2012 14:15

Long I received the exact same letter from Santander this morning. They enclosed a copy of the agreement but again, it's not my writing. The sales assistant spelt my name wrong the scored it out so pretty obvious it wasn't me Angry

My letter says it is a final response. Is the ombudsman my next step? Does anyone know what the outcome is likely to be?

Longdistance · 22/09/2012 14:36

Hi Hairy. I've filled in a form that I printed off online from the Fos. That's my next step.
I am NOT giving up. Santander are the worst organisation ever in the ppi scandal at letting people have their money. This isn't the last they've heard from me Angry

MummysHappyPills · 22/09/2012 15:11

Just want to post to tell everyone, don't get put off if you have no paperwork and if your loan was a long time ago!

I took out a loan in 2002, and despite having a temporary job at the time, I was told I had to take out PPI to be accepted for the loan. It was with M&S money and I have none of the paperwork. Just had a 5 minute call to them. I asked for copies of my paperwork. She asked if it was to reclaim ppi. I said yes. She said that she could find me on the system and refer it to their ppi complaints dept to have it investigated for me. She said I will get a letter within 5 days and the investigation will take up to 8 weeks.

Time will tell if the rest of the process goes as smoothly or in my favour, but that phone call was ridiculously easy. Don't know if every company will be the same though. Can't believe ppi reclaim companies actually get such easy money just for doing that! I was considering going to one as I had no paperwork and it was such a long time ago. Glad I didn't now!

So I would urge everyone just to call their provider. You never know it might be the only thing you need to do!

unity156 · 22/09/2012 22:58

Good news/ bad news for me. i received a letter today from citi financial saying i am to get £6756.00 ppi back but the wording in my letter is dificult to understand. i am a month in arrears on the loan and have six months remaining on it so the letter seems to say that the offer will be used to pay arrears and balance and thats the end of it. im a bit at a loss as I have totalled my balance plus arrears and it comes to nothing near what they are supposedly offering, what do i do? I have a slip to sign to take this offer but i dont think its right any help please.

lisad123 · 22/09/2012 23:13

Mint did this to me. They will have to give you remaining balance but they are allowed to take money for debt. Call them and congratulation Grin

hopefullclaimer · 23/09/2012 08:21

hey unity well bloody done wiv citi GrinWinelookin at your orig post it didnt take them 2 long to sort out. id give them a ring tomoz to double check how they are payin the rest of the refund ie cheque r into your bank n ask em what the wait for payment is xx

unity156 · 23/09/2012 22:25

thanks everyone for your great advice and hope everyone else is successful in their claims. I am going to ring city tomorrow just to clarify how it is going to be paid. i am now feeling a bit more confident and have a few other bits to try and claim back ( credit cards, small loans all with ppi). Oh does anyone know if first national are still trading as I had a loan with them in 2004 with ppi on it, if not were do you go with the claim?

SH05GVY · 24/09/2012 02:07

Hey unity156, knew you would be victorious. Now is the difficult part. Phone them by all means but take names with spellings and log times of calls. My first call to them after signing the acceptance form, I was told that the settlement was being recalculated. On reading my letter again, they made reference to the original loan app forms when their complaint form only asks for the PPI details. Asks them for the final figures after arrears and settlement figure then as least you know what you will be getting exactly. Also they have to add 8% interest for compensatory to the monthly payments that you have made already. Well done and I will post my Eureka moment when my cheque arrives as 2moro is the beginning of week 6 waiting.

unity156 · 24/09/2012 10:43

Oh my god SHO5GVY I have just spoke to them this morning and how difficult are they. I asked how it would affect my account by applying the ppi compensation to it and they couldnt give me an answer.I have to (which I have done ) request a settlement figure which they cant tell me but will send it out to me and then take it from there. We shall see, I hope you do get your cheque soon but they are the most frustrating people to comunicate with. Although the bonus is it was upheld and done so quickly but until you receive your cheque I guess that means nothing. good luck.

lilaclady79 · 28/09/2012 22:01

For months now I have been receiving really annoying phonecalls from ppi companies and finally decided to take one up on their offer of trying to claim. However, before signing anything, i started reading through sites like this one, and seeing such positive results, I decided to go it alone.
I printed off a SAR template and have sent it to 4 different companies both for credit card and loans. I don't know the account numbers for any of these except my current credit cards but hopefully they can find the details for me.
Once I do receive the information, how do I proceed??? Someone mentioned a claim form.... Where do I get that??

hopefullclaimer · 29/09/2012 10:51

Hi lila
Some of the banks have phone lines you can make a claim over the phone with others ask you to fill in the qurstionaire. If u google fos questionaire you can print and send that off xx

SH05GVY · 29/09/2012 21:25

To any1 who dealt with CitiGroup (Citifinancial). My complaint upheld Aug 20. Received & returned Acceptance agreement Aug 23. Received by Citifinancial Aug 27. Letter dated Aug 20 stated cheque would be received 10 to 15 working day on receipt of acceptance agreement(Aug27). Called on 10th & 13th Sept as no cheque received, was given an email address to write to. Called again Sept 19th. Cheque only ordered on Sept 14 and the 10 to 15 working days applies from this date and the correspondance upholding complaint dated Aug 20 is incorrect. Email I sent dated Sept 13 only received on Sept 17th, No response to this email to date. When you telephone Citifinancial and listen to the options available....If you are waiting for a cheque on an upheld complaint....this takes 10 to 15 working days on receipt of your signed acceptance agreement. If you telephone Citifinancial and speak to MOUSHUMI HOSSAIN, she will tell you the information on the lead time for your cheque on receipt of your signed agreement, is Incorrect. Albeit in the letter upholding your complaint or the intro message when telephoning and pressing the options to get to the right department is also Incorrect. Still waiting for my EUREKA moment. Stay Blessed and Happy. Love to all xxxxxxxxxxxx

unity156 · 30/09/2012 15:40

Hi SHO5GVY hope you manage to get your money from citi, im sorting out my ppi refund onto my remainder of my loan but lets see how long it takes them to impliment it because it will mean my loan is finished once they apply it. I think citi are very reluctant to help and seem to stretch out evrything when it actually comes to the money. good luck.

SH05GVY · 02/10/2012 01:53

Hi Unity. I have just emailed FLA for advice. I will be attending a Citibank branch later today to get a more comprehensive answer also as I am sick of calling India. The staff do not understand that an email equates to the same as sending a letter.
