You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

I had a capital one credit card about 6 years ago. The balance was paid off by bankruptcy, will that make a difference? I think i was paying PPI.
Found details of how to claim from them on their website. I have no statements or details of my account though. Maybe should use the contact number on there to ask but i hate makng phone calls! Always get my words muddled up.

Tortoise · 01/09/2012 13:02

I think Google has answered my question. If i got any ppi money back i wouldn't actually be allowed to keep it because of the bankruptcy.

hopefullclaimer · 04/09/2012 18:49

Rite paperwork still not arrived from welcome so if its not here tomoz im gunna print off the one online. After sev phone calls they have now given me the correct info(i hope) that i am the main account holder on 3 loans not 2 . So my question is how good are they at paying out on loans from before 05? And how fast are they at sorting it out or do they drag it out for 8 wks even if its a tuff luck u get nowt letter?

fraggle73 · 04/09/2012 23:03

would someone be kind enough to post the link to the letter that you send to the lenders. I had loans with Egg and Cahoot and even Northern Rock I think.

hopefullclaimer · 05/09/2012 06:54

Hi fraggle
Im quite new here myself so dont take my word as law but after speakin to welcome yest to find out where my questionaire was the guy told me to just google fos ppi questionaire and fill that in. I think its a standered 1 that most companys use if not try giving the companys a ring and ask as some have a special team to sort ppi out. Hopefully 1 of the previous posters will pop along later and fill you in better than i did but hope that helps and good luck xx

hopefullclaimer · 05/09/2012 06:55

I am thinking of claiming ppi on a secured loan that I have for £40,000 over 25yrs. I have been paying it for 10yrs but am 1 month in arrears. does anyone know how this will affect my claim and what does anyone recon i may get. also had a loan with same company for £20,000 in 2003 but paid it off 2005 am I too late to claim on this? Please any help or advice would be great.

hopefullclaimer · 07/09/2012 08:23

Hi, not 100% sure but they would deffo use some of the claim money to pay off the arrers n bring u back upto date but ive allso heard on here that they sometimes knock all the claim money off the loan u have so you would have less to pay off or maybe smaller monthly payments.as for the older loan give it a try theres no harm in giving it a go xx

unity156 · 07/09/2012 08:49

thanks for that imformation, i was going to use a claims company but if i did that i may end up in a bit of a mess so will re-think it over. I also had a few loans with loyds tsb but cant find paperwork for them but i do have my bank account details for that bank, would I be able to claim back on those loans as I remember being told I had to have the insurance for these.

hopefullclaimer · 07/09/2012 12:23

Dont use a claim company as they only do wot you would do yourself and if the loan company did knock any refund of the loan you had with them then u would still be stuck with a bill from the claim company. Ive got a claim in with lloyds myself all i did was take id into my local branch and ask them for a copy of my info and got a list of loans n accounts i had with them it doesnt hav the ppi info on but does have the loan numbs on so gives u somewhere to start then just google lloyds ppi claims and they have a site just for ppi claims on it with addresses n phone numbs on i just rang them up gave them the loan numbs and they will start looking into it from there xx if it helps the lloyds ppi numb is 0845 6012683 xx

I have taken Barclaycard to ombesmen Confused

Bonkerz · 07/09/2012 20:54

Just wanted to say I sent a letter to lloyds last Thursday stating
I felt I had been missile PPI. I had no numbers for loans or credit card etc and just asked they checked my account history!!!! I received today 7 letters. 5 had account numbers for 4 loans and a credit card I apparently haven't paid PPI on and I received 2 letters apologising for the miss sold PPI and stating it had been passed to correct department to be dealt with?!?! Does this mean I'm likely to get a small payout? The total of these two account (CC and loan) was about £3k! How long till I know???? TIA

bangersmashandbeans · 07/09/2012 20:57

We've just had a no from lloyds regarding a misold PPI complaint but DH has researched online and apparently 99% of ppi claims that go to the ombudsman get settled in the clients favour. So if your initial complaint gets rejected then don't give up.

Shakey1500 · 07/09/2012 22:43

I've filed two against Barclays with the Ombudsman. Can take up to a year they reckon. Poor buggers, must be snowed under!

lisad123 · 08/09/2012 10:55

yep i have been told a year too :(

hopefullclaimer · 08/09/2012 18:08

hi bonkerz,
i started mine with lloyds 2 wks back regarding a cc and 3 loans
i got 2 letters back last sat the 1 for the credit card says no ppi so sorry go away Wink the loans letter tho does say sorry for your complaint and thanks for bringing it to our attention it goes on to say they passing it on for investigation and please allow 8 wks but i do belive they abit swamped at the moment so may be abit longer im gunna give them a ring on wk 5 n see how its going.

Jogood40 · 08/09/2012 22:49

Welcome have not closed they are not doing loans etc any more but are still based in Nottingham and they still have a HR department and still collecting debts owed from people if I was you I would check it out a bit more. Good Luck.

Rachh6 · 10/09/2012 14:15

Hi ppl I would advise everyone to pursue there claims my was turned down by HSBc so went to FO and just received letter saying they are upholding my complaint has anyone else had success and received money they were owed?

bangersmashandbeans · 10/09/2012 16:26

unity156 · 10/09/2012 22:36

Have filled in all the appropriate forms to send off tomorrow for my secured loans ppi with citi financial so will see what happens. Hope I get a good response!!? Also dug out credit card details I have and found that had ppi on all of them without even realising so will try with them too!

Michael57 · 11/09/2012 10:51

HI, I had a Mint credit card which I got into difficulty with but eventually got it paid-off.
I pulled out an old bill and there are TWO interest charges on there. One for £128.77 @ 2.008% and another for £15.54 at 2.141%. Total interest £144.31. Could this lesser amount be PPI?

lisad123 · 11/09/2012 14:00

We got £13,000 back on house loan, £7,000 back on various loans from black horse, £1,000 on my mint credit card and £3500 from an old Barclay loan. We did all of these about three years ago, apart from mont and small black horse one.
Still awaiting Barclays.
How long has everyone's claim via FO taken?

unity156 · 12/09/2012 15:03

Hi, Was wondering once you have sent your letter (template) of complaint about your ppi ,what do you do next. as in do you leave it a week or two to phone them or do you just wait for a written reply? Im new to trying to claim ppi so just need as much advice as possible thanks.
