@FullMoon1917 Sorry lovely I missed your post, so sorry you're going through this, such a horrible experience. I haven't had any foetuses checked, I do have this one but won't get it checked, we will just bury it. Hope you're holding up ok x

FullMoon1917 · 22/01/2024 22:59

@warmbutteredtoast thank you, i got scanned today and took in the sac etc. Im fully clear which is good so no surgery and the remains have been sent off for testing. They were shocked at how big it was and that they were surprised i did that at home without going to A&E. Ive taken two days off work to deal but i know its a long road ahead! Thank you for your words xxx

Hello, I hope it’s ok to join here? I was told last Tuesday at my 12 weeks scan (should have been 13 weeks) that the baby’s heartbeat had stopped and it had stopped growing a few weeks ago, although we’d had a good scan at 7 weeks with strong heartbeat and I’d had no symptoms at all of miscarriage. Had to have surgical management yesterday which was really tough.

I just had a question for anyone who has had the surgery if that’s ok? I had the surgery at 4 yesterday and had a tiny bit of pain yesterday, but I haven’t taken painkillers for 12 hours and don’t have any pain now, plus the bleeding (which was light) seems to have almost stopped. Is this normal? I’m worried it means they haven’t got everything, although I have to wait 3 weeks to do the test and see.

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 08:53

@Mrsspoon3 sorry you're going through this. Very similar to my first MMC - found out at 12 weeks, baby measured 9.5. I'm about to have surgical management for my second MMC (what bad luck!). I would think what you're describing can be absolutely fine, there's less bleeding as they take it all away so to speak. It'd be more concerning if you kept bleeding after a week or so.

I wouldn't worry about lack of pain either - I've been told this morning that there's minimal discomfort. Hope you're doing okay x

CurlyWurly1991 · 23/01/2024 13:14

@Mrsspoon3 hello, welcome to the thread 😊 it is early days so do take care of yourself xxx
I am two weeks on from surgical management and still bleeding lightly / spotting on and off . Sometimes I get caught out if I don’t wear a pad so still need a pad or liner all the time. I think (hope!) this is pretty normal.

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 13:18

I'm sat in the hospital waiting for SM. Been here since 7.30 am and haven't drunk or eaten anything since yesterday. Don't know whether to give up soon and come back another day 😔 not what I need on top of everything else

ForestWren · 23/01/2024 16:55

Oh no I’m so sorry @ThelastRolo20 ! Absolutely last thing you need. Hope they get to you soon ❤️

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 16:59

@ForestWren thank you! I got seen in the end and just waiting for my lift home. All seems to have gone well - looking forward to recovering and taking time out for 3 months before trying again in April/ May 😊

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 19:06

Hi everyone. For those that had a d&c/ surgical management just wondering what the timeframe was for getting your first normal period afterwards? I'm in no rush but it would be good to get an understanding of other people's experiences x

Bcec · 23/01/2024 19:58

@Mrsspoon3 yep, I was exactly the same. I had pain immediately after I woke up then nothing more. I only wore a pad the day of the surgery with a very small amount of bleeding but nothing after that.
@ThelastRolo20 I had my surgical management on 13th December and my first period was 26th December so only 13 days. I must have ovulated straight away. My next cycle (my current one) went straight back to normal as I got my LH peak the day I was expecting to. I was actually due on yesterday but no sign of AF yet and a very very faint positive test today (sorry if that is difficult for anyone to read but thought it might offer some reassurance that things can return to normal very quickly)

Mrsspoon3 · 23/01/2024 21:22

Thanks so much @ThelastRolo20 @Sunnydays12340987 @CurlyWurly1991 @Bcec for your kind replies and that’s really helpful to know this can be normal! xx

Sorry you’ve just had to get surgical management too @ThelastRolo20. Glad that bit is all over for you now. Hope you’re feeling ok.

Congratulations @Bcec!

FullMoon1917 · 24/01/2024 08:33

@ThelastRolo20 i am so incredibly sorry you're going through this again in such short succession. Sending so many virtual hugs

@Mrsspoon3 i was very similar circumstances and i wish i had opted for surgical first time round but it sounds silly I'd just got a fresh manicure and the idea of going back to ask them to remove it killed me as I'd have to say why. Additionally I'd had a surgical termination 15 years ago that took me a long time to get over and i didn't need to relive any part of it. But i remember the bleeding that time was very minimal and i guess its because they clear out the entire womb?

ThelastRolo20 · 24/01/2024 11:07

@FullMoon1917 thank you ❤️
@Mrsspoon3 - I'm having the same experience as you. No pain or discomfort and I have no bleeding, they did say there wasn't a lot to take away so maybe that's why!

I'll do a test in a week to just make sure it's getting lighter but you're not alone in zero symptoms post surgery x

Bcec · 24/01/2024 17:35

@Mrsspoon3 thank you but it seems to be a chemical unfortunately as tests today were negative and I have started cramping/bleeding. Still, it offered me some reassurance at least that my body is back into a routine

ThelastRolo20 · 24/01/2024 17:41

@Bcec I'm so sorry - TTC is such a minefield! I'm glad that you feel your cycles are going back to normal a bit though

Mrsspoon3 · 25/01/2024 19:18

I hope you’re doing ok @ThelastRolo20? That’s reassuring you’re having no symptoms either. I hope you’re feeling ok emotionally, as much as you can in this situation.

Sorry to hear you went through similar @FullMoon1917 And sorry to hear it seems to have been a chemical @Bcec. I’m glad it’s given you some reassurance though

I took a test today (even though it’s only been 3 days since the surgery) just to see how dark the line is now for reference, and it made me so sad to see a darkish line and know I’m not pregnant and to remember how excited I was seeing that line a couple of months ago, not knowing what was going to happen.

CurlyWurly1991 · 25/01/2024 19:27

@Mrsspoon3 oh I’m sorry, it is so sad to keep seeing those positive tests when you know it isn’t to be. I felt pregnant for quite a few days after the surgical management, and am still testing positive about 2.5 weeks afterwards. It’s really crap. 💐

ThelastRolo20 · 25/01/2024 19:35

@Mrsspoon3 I'm doing okay thank you. I had a heavy ish night actually but bleeding has slowed today so maybe just a bit extra had to leave! @CurlyWurly1991 my last MC took the whole three weeks and I still think there was a shadow of a line. I think my following period was needed to follow get rid of the hormones so I'm expecting the same this time around. I'm going to test weekly just to make sure it's getting lighter x

FullMoon1917 · 26/01/2024 08:09

I don't know if this is of interest @CurlyWurly1991 but ive actually stuck down all my tests so i could track. Obviously its a different situation as this was medical management that failed but for me it was nearly a month but once it started dropping it was quite fast.

Support thread for those experiencing or recently experienced a MC/MMC - Thread 8 ALL welcome!
CurlyWurly1991 · 26/01/2024 08:21

Oh @FullMoon1917 yhats really helpful thank you. It’s also very sad in a way , I’m so sorry it’s also been so recent for you xx
Can you get your period while still testing positive for hcg, or does that need to be fully gone before your body starts the menstrual cycle again, does anyone know? Just thinking about when I might be fertile again 🧐

ThelastRolo20 · 26/01/2024 09:04

@CurlyWurly1991 I think you can ovulate with HCG in the system but it needs to be relatively low. I think I needed a period to fully get rid of the HCG x

ThelastRolo20 · 26/01/2024 09:05

@CurlyWurly1991 if it helps after my last MC my period came back exactly 4 weeks after so there was no delay - I know sometimes there can be but shows things can snap back pretty quickly 😃

FullMoon1917 · 26/01/2024 10:00

@CurlyWurly1991 i am planning on doing the lh strips from now just to have an idea of whats going on. Now my hcg tests are basically negative my ovulation strips aren't doing that false positive thing so hopefully can track but understand thats not possible if you are still testing positive for HCG. I have an unhealthy addiction to amazon so I have a huge stash of tests 😅

CurlyWurly1991 · 26/01/2024 12:41

@FullMoon1917 @ThelastRolo20 thanks that makes sense. I also have a billion OPKs. Still getting fairly strong hcg tests (wondfos) I guess they are pretty sensitive. Checking CM is pretty helpful for me so might start using OPKs once I get a cue from that.
