Hi ladies

A few of us got talking on another thread and found having each other in the same boat, whilst devastating, helpful. So here is a little thread so we can stay in touch and support each other through this journey.

Anyone who has recently experienced or is experiencing a MC/MMC please join us. We are just on the start of our journey ❤

I found out I had a MMC on 21st December at 9+5. This was following a scan that showed a baby with a heartbeat 3 weeks earlier. My body hasn't let go at all, with no bleeding, so I'm booked in for surgery tomorrow. The hardest thing waiting over Christmas 💔

@SuzieDeLaTour I did!! I've had a headache since my MVA! Still do a little bit...

@DMT1982 got all my thyroid results back. All fine. One T4 was normal but on the higher side so gonna have a follow up with my GP but it doesn't appear to be an issue as all the key ones in the book are well within range so hopefully no issue at all 🤞🤞

@ams thank you hope we all get our dream and I will x

LauraT94 · 15/01/2021 14:41

Contractions are back 😩 think I've maybe done too much and set them off?! I've not done much at all, just pottering in the kitchen baking myself some treats to make me feel better!! But they've hit hard again and increased the bleeding. Going to take a shower and get back into bed with the cat I think haha!

Also debating having a gin tonight...

When did you all start drinking again post-surgical management? I only had local so would assume it's not in my system/won't be affected by alcohol...

Scottishskifun · 15/01/2021 14:45

Sad I still have food aversions and enhanced sense of smell which unfortunately includes alcohol I really want a glass of wine but can't stomach the smell still! I'm hoping it will wear off soon!

LauraT94 · 15/01/2021 14:49

@Scottishskifun oh no that's awful you're still suffering with the food aversions 😢 I am still off of most veg!! That was my main aversion. But it doesn't make me sick now so that's an improvement. But I'll be honest, I fancied a gin the whole time I was pregnant too so this isn't a new craving 😂

Scottishskifun · 15/01/2021 14:55

@LauraT94 so do I! Have a lovely bottle of wine on the side received as a Xmas present (nobody other than my parents knew I was pregnant)!
I think it's fine just take it easy with quantity as not drinking for a while combined with blood loss you can get tipsy very easily (think how you can get drunk more when on your period).

DMT1982 · 15/01/2021 15:27

@AMS19 that’s great news you had your test results back for thyroid and all ok although you can go to your doctor now and say you want a retest maybe because one of high and they should do them. Don’t worry if it is a little high because that’s just a snap shot of that day and can differ massively from day to day. I was low in calcium and Vit D one day and then on a retest it was fine xxx

Enola41 · 15/01/2021 15:36

I've had the surgical management. Very little pain, just waiting to go home. Been referred to a cardiologist as my heart rate went all spiky before the op but was fine during and after and on the ECG a little while later. They think it's down to anxiety and a panic attack but want to rule the bad stuff out.

Had an anti D injection. I didn't have a second one after my DD was born as she is RH neg like me. I got a horrible feeling that is what caused the MC (plus my age). Can not fault the NHS staff they have been brilliant. Even though this has been awful and devastating my experience having Surgery under GA has been a positive one.

Scottishskifun · 15/01/2021 15:44

@Enola41 glad you are recovering and it was OK as it can be procedure wise. Take it as easy as you can.
I am the same no second anti D injection with my son was also told as I miscarried naturally I didn't need an anti D which I was surprised about.

Hi everyone,

Never dreamed the first time I’d be posting on this site would be under these circumstances...

I had my twelve week scan yesterday and we found out that the little bean had no heartbeat and had died at about seven weeks.

I had an early scan to date the pregnancy at what they judged to be exactly six weeks and the sonographer had shown me the heartbeat, so it was of course a massive shock.

We were given information on the three options for handling the miscarriage and I opted to sleep on it. This morning we went back to the hospital and I had the pessaries for the first part of medical management at about 10am.

At about 1:30pm I started experiencing what I can only imagine (first pregnancy) are contraction-type pains - it was so much worse than anything I’d ever had when having a period. I had the faintest wipe of dark blood that looked like the very beginnings of a period.

I took some co-codamol at 3pm which seemed to whack it enough for a chunk of time that I even got some sleep. Now it’s 5pm and I’ve had nothing since then. The pain has died right down and is more just like period pain now, but I’ve had absolutely no bleeding.

I don’t even really know what I’m posting this for. I just wish it would get on with it so it can eventually be over with - the waiting is really scary.

My heart goes out to you all having read your stories - it really is nothing like anything I’ve ever gone through before.

Coco x

Scottishskifun · 15/01/2021 17:26

@CocoLoco88 sorry for your loss its a tough process to go through. I think medical management can take up to 12 hours but if there hasn't been any progress then they will offer either to repeat or surgical treatment.
Keep in contact with the hospital and keep ontop of your pain management and yes it will be early stage contraction pain warm baths can help. It doesn't get to the same intensity as a full labour but doesn't stop it being painful none the less!

AMS19 · 15/01/2021 17:30

@DMT1982 yeah the TSH is the main one and that is below 2.5 so I'm happy. I'll get more tests but at least know I can try anyway!

@CocoLoco88 I'm so sorry! My 12 week scan should have been yesterday, I also saw a baby with a heartbeat at 6 weeks and I also lost mine around 7, so virtually identical. The only difference is I had a private scan end of Dec so as you've probably read have already had a MVA. There are a few ladies on here who have had either medical management or natural miscarriage so can give you advice. It is really really tough but I'm feeling so much better mentally and its only been 2 weeks since my procedure. Time is definitely a healer. It is an awful thing to experience but we are all here for you!! Xx

CocoLoco88 · 15/01/2021 18:01

@Scottishskifun yes that makes sense re the pain being like early contractions. It wasn’t completely unbearable, just not a type of pain I’d ever had before which was a bit alarming!

@AMS19 yes I read your post, so sorry for your loss too. I think this site is wonderful for showing you that you’re not alone in these horrid situations and people seem genuinely kind (and to offer good advice - about to try a warm bath and see how that helps...)

Thank you both x

Scottishskifun · 15/01/2021 18:07

@CocoLoco88 it's amazing the pain relief effects of warm water it's still sore but not to compared to without. It also helps you to relax a bit so double benefit.

AMS19 · 15/01/2021 18:08

@CocoLoco88 you're absolutely not alone!! So many of us are unfortunately going through it. When you're feeling stronger I would suggest reading this thread if you haven't already. It has amazing positive stories post a miscarriage xx

@CocoLoco88 so so sorry you find yourself here. My 12 week scan should have been yesterday but we found out at 7+4 at an early scan that baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I had surgical management under GA on the 30th December and went back to work last week.

We have all been where you are now and know how utterly lost you must be feeling, but you will get through it and you will start to feel better. We are all here if you have any questions or just want to vent.

SuzieDeLaTour · 15/01/2021 19:08

@Nicolamac1 that’s good your periods are returning - I can’t wait to be at that point! I don’t think there is any such thing as TMI on this kind of thread ☺️ Good luck with the TTC again, they say you’re more fertile after a miscarriage so fingers crossed for you.
@LauraT94 I hope you’ve treated yourself to a G&T!! 🍸 and your cramping has calmed down now? I’m also not feeling the veg at the moment and I’m a vegetarian!! Not great is it!? 🤪
@AMS19 great news that your thyroid tests have come back ok, must be a relief and good to get those boxes ticked! I agree, don’t worry if one is a little high, particularly as everything else is perfect ☺️
@Enola41 I’m so glad all went well with the SM today, must be a relief to have it over and done with and that’s lovely that you had such a “pleasant” experience. Hope you’re resting and being spoilt this evening!
@CocoLoco88 I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. It is absolutely devastating to hear those words and it’s an experience you never imagine you’ll go through when TTC. I found out on Wednesday at 10weeks + 2 that I had miscarried - baby was measuring 8+4 but I’d already seen a heartbeat at 6 weeks and again at 8+2.
This is my second miscarriage - I opted for surgical management back in 2018 and I’m due to go in for surgical management again tomorrow morning. I don’t have any experience of medical management but if it doesn’t progress and you opt for surgical management, i only have good things to say about it and the other ladies on here have felt the same. We are all here for you to “virtually” hold your hand and help you get through this awful time xx

AMS19 · 15/01/2021 19:38

@SuzieDeLaTour any update on the covid swab?

AMS19 · 15/01/2021 19:58

@SuzieDeLaTour amazing!! You're going to be absolutely fine tomorrow I promise. You'll come out and feel a huge sense of relief. You can slowly start to rebuild and move on day by day. I'll be here all day tomorrow if you want someone to talk to, we've all got your back xx
