Just a quick question ladies, i ofyen have a 'break through blead' mid cycle, up to a week before ovulation but it's usually just a spot. Yesterday it was like day 1 of period, pink watery blood. The only thong different is that this month i've been taking 8 different supliments (vit e, d, b12, b6, folic acid, evening primrose, vit c and agnus castus) and having done a bit of research it ciuld be a sign thatvthe agnus castus is having a positive effect on my horemones. Anybody got any similar experience of this? (I had a smear last summer and all was well so not worried about scarey stuff, pretty sure it's horemonal).

Frecklefire · 25/06/2015 08:47

Often thing *could . Typos arrrrrgh!

girliesaints · 25/06/2015 09:31

Flen, totally agree with your comment about this thread reaching me to chase/nag medical professionals . I'm sure the general medical profession would prefer we didn't ????

Justonemoretime · 25/06/2015 09:33

Flen, Girlie, I couldn't agree more. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

girliesaints · 25/06/2015 09:46

*teaching me not reaching. Darn smashed screen on phone!

Love the expression Just!

I have a quick question re. Heparin/clexane, for those that have/are taking it, when did you start taking it?

I'm seeing my mw on Monday and she said she would send an urgent request for a scan asap but that the waiting list is sometimes 2 wks!!

I'm 4.5wks so want to start it asap. If it seems that it might take too long I was thinking of asking coventry, did they fit you in ok if you had yours there and was there a charge?

I could also go private locally if they do them that early, or thought of just starting the injections next week maybe, but that would be naughty (and risky although I do have fvl)!

Sorry, never been a quick question!!

OneStep2015 · 25/06/2015 10:25

Blood results this morning HCG has halved to 100 since Sat.
Repeat bloods next Weds.

Marchgirl · 25/06/2015 10:34

Glad it's going down so you won't need any intervention onestep, but i know how hard it is to see the numbers dropping still. Hope you're doing ok. Has it passed yet?

BumbleBee0 · 25/06/2015 10:46

Hugs onestep. I had similar with mc2 and had to have hcg monitored down before I was discharged (took nearly 4 wks). It's so awful having to wait for it when you just want it to be over. Thinking of you and keep posting on here. x

How are you march? x

Marchgirl · 25/06/2015 11:15

I'm ok. Having an angry week this week which is a bit disconcerting. Also feels very soon to be getting back on the horse. The two before this I've had time off for testing so this seems quick to be starting again. Finding myself thinking that now i don't have any more testing to wait for i could be another 5 mc down before Christmas, which isn't particularly positive or helpful.

OneStep2015 · 25/06/2015 11:48

Thanks.
Yes my 12 wk mc in Oct 2014 took just over a month to get a negative pg test, but my tummy kind of went back to normal 'blubbery' size quite quickly with that mc. With this one, I still have a tummy, it seems to be taking ages to shrink down, but I know I keep forgetting this has all happened really quickly and it's still early days. Just itching to get back to normal.!!!

Doctor at the John Radcliffe spent a good 10 mins with me on the phone this morning which I was really appreciative of, I've never had this kind of monitoring before, just been left to it by Bucks Healthcare, I feel like writing them a letter today to tell them of my experiences but not a wise thing to do when you're all bitter, angry and hormonal through a mc!!! Angry

HUGS March xx

MorganLeFey · 25/06/2015 12:16

Frecklefire Since my first miscarriage I've had midcycle spotting/light bleed. Saw GP as had few bleeds after sex too & got up to date with smear test (normal) & was told had an ectropion visible (quite common w preg hormones). Since then no more bleeding after sex or other erratic bleeding or any other symptoms (pain on sex, discharge etc. which are things to watch out for) so as long as it's following a predictable pattern I'm putting in down to hormones too.

Marchgirl Angry here too.
Still neg on 12DPO so think I'm out this month & so my best laid plans of a mat leave in my current job (with good package) is thwarted! After hoping to go on it Jan, May & then Sept this year... So £10,000 hypothetically poorer (difference work OMP & MA if I'm freelance) unless we put TTC on hold till I find a new job. But don't think I can cope with that.

Had NHS scan today ?PCOS - meet clinical criteria & all my early preg scans shown it... But NHS RMC wanted repeat scan and D2-4 bloods too to confirm before my follow up in 3.5 months time (!) So the scan did confirm it - surprise! Hmm - so I think I'll try the metformin I was prescribed privately in the meantime till the NHS make the official diagnosis. With all other tests so far for RMC normal maybe I'm an (touchwood) ovulating PCOSer & the ongoing hormonal imbalance/insulin resistance is messing things up?? (Although Mr S thought PCOS was more typically blighted ovum type miscarriages.). Anyhow - perhaps metformin/progesterone will make all the difference - I've convinced myself! Grin

Lovemylittlebear · 25/06/2015 12:21

Clexane question - I started at four weeks and it was a private prescription ( before scan) but I know some are advised to wait for scan first x

MorganLeFey · 25/06/2015 12:26

Just - I agree about squeaky wheels! I'm medical & I've been pretty disappointed by aspects of NHS miscarriage/RMC care & that's with some potential advantages of knowing a bit how to navigate the system & having worked a few years back in the same department of the EPU I go to - so knowing the Sister in charge/Consultants..!
Ask people to be precise with timings & who you should contact when if you don't hear & write this/their names down!
But in a nice way... As honey also gets more bees than vinegar - or whatever it is!

One step - Draft your letter now. Then when all this is behind you & you're on maternity leave (maybe about 10months in when life calms down Wink ) re-read/edit then send as feedback. They genuinely may not know how they make patients feel or things get messed up unless it goes so badly wrong that a significant event analysis is done - or people give feedback.

Flen · 25/06/2015 12:27

march hugs to you. It's just relentless and horrible. More hugs.

MorganLeFey · 25/06/2015 12:33

Littlebear

Helpful for scan with clexane to either check pregnancy in the right location or viable so you're not making your blood less sticky & then running the risk of heavy bleeding with miscarriage or if it were an ectopic that ruptured...

But ectopics don't usually rupture till they get big enough perhaps 8-10 weeks - so as long as your team are happy to start before a location scan, you have an early scan planned before 12/40 & you seek advice for any pain/bleeding etc. it seems reasonable to me. Especially if wanting to start ASAP for known clotting abnormality or cryoprotective...

But do the people who prescribe heparin advise a blood test to check on platelet levels? I haven't seen that mentioned (although heparin is not in my plan - if a 4th MC I'll head to Coventry) but I would probably want one as a monitoring test as some people react to LMWH and drop their platelet levels which increases bleeding risk further.

Brummiegirl15 · 25/06/2015 12:51

bumble I was 6 weeks but I had to have a location scan first.

Tanny was about 4.5 wks but she had a location scan @ Cov first

mrsdiddlydoo · 25/06/2015 12:54

bumble I had my scan at Coventry. They suggested I go around 6 weeks but I went about 5+2. Just phoned Kerri and she made an appointment. No charge. Had to wait about a week for the appt. Are you close to Coventry? Can't remember off the top of my head. I couldn't find anywhere local to me private that would do such an early scan, but I didn't try very hard looking.

No one mentioned monitoring me whilst I was on heparin. Just left to my own devices!

Justonemoretime · 25/06/2015 13:28

Re: heparin, I had a location scan at about 5.4 and started it after that. No follow up, but it's a v low dose. I told work that I was taking it and I think I might have carried s card in my purse in case I was in an accident.

I had the scan at local bucks services by bending the ear of the appointments secretary. I found them very good; much improved from my experiences with MCs #1 and #2 (I was under uclh for most of #3 except the 12 week scan, but opted to have my erpc at uclh).

Marchgirl · 25/06/2015 13:37

Sorry about the bfns morgan and sasha. It's just shit. The whole lot of it.

bootles · 25/06/2015 13:43

bumble i got heparin at about 5+4 both times -Coventry told me to start by about 6 weeks as that is when it starts to be effective. I had it prescribed by my epu, but Prof B used to work there so they were v comfortable with it. Worth asking them.

onestep I hope your levels get sorted out quickly, hugs x

march it's so hard, and your last losses have been close together. Do you think a break is something you would think about? Anger is entirely understandable, rant and rage on here if it helps. Hugs x

morgan at Coventry I think they just put everyone on 20mg, (thats what I am on) so it's not enough to be anticoagulated as such. No monitoring. So I wonder if its just because its quite a low dose? Your plan to try metformin and progesterone sounds like a good one.

bootles · 25/06/2015 13:45

onestep too, rant and rage on here if it helps x

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that baby Mhairi was born this morning and she's amazing! Her name means most wanted and loved child which we thought was fitting :). She's rather perfect even though we're biased ;)
