Glad you've gone home March, what awful timing. Big hugs Cake

Thank you all for scan wishes. It went well. Baby in right place with yolk sac and heartbeat. Couldn't tell how fast hb as was external scan and early days, but measured 6+3. So furthest I've been. Fx

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/05/2015 15:43

Super news jady! Smile

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/05/2015 15:44

Great news re scan jady.

What time are you going to test Brummie? Am crossing everything for you that it's a BFP.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/05/2015 15:49

Bootles, yay for stronger line.

Sun, it's good you have a heartbeat. Fingers crossed for the next scan.

Just, chin up re breastfeeding. It's definitely easier for a baby to feed well the larger their mouth, as they can suck more of your nipple and surrounding skin into their mouths. It's promising that he is rejecting the bottle, sounds like he wants to feed from you, he just hasn't got the knack yet, but it shouldn't take long for him to grow, and I bet he'll make up for lost time then!

Sunandrainbow · 21/05/2015 15:57

Lovely news jady. Really pleased for you. x

Justonemoretime · 21/05/2015 15:59

Jady, excellent news. I was told that the current guidelines (which they seem to change totally at random IMHO) are not to measure heartbeat rate on early scans. This seems to have changed since 2013 when they used to put it on the report every time. Anyway, it all sounds very good for you. Grin

Lost a long post last night which I will reconstruct later...

But can anyone tell me, if I am hyperfertile and implanting the wrong eggs, then why wasn't there a problem found during testing on fetus after MC4? Or are there issues with eggs which wouldn't be identified despite testing?

Starting to doubt everything now. Sun you were right when you said every BFN takes you back over the journey, never saw that before.

And bloody GP has still not sorted progesterone, not that I need it now.

Frecklefire · 21/05/2015 17:10

Oh march, so sorry for shitty day. Sending you lots of this Wine and this Cake and these Flowers.

Im bloody glad i have somehow erased the due dates of my first two mc, i just remember first one would have been feb 2015 and second june 2015. I know third was sep 6th, day before we go back to school this year, but the way i'm thinking of it is that it could have been two weeks late, or 5 weeks early, so i try not to think too much of the actual date (ds was a week late). But it helps me because close friend is due on 6th, and by the same logic won't actually end up being born on the 6th! X

biscuits I have discovered since Faith's diagnosis that there are many layers of genetic testing, of which karyotyping is the most basic. It is just someone looking down a microscope at chromosomes to ensure there are the right number and they are the right shape, so it will pick up trisomys (additional copy of a chromosome e.g. Down's syndrome) triploidy where you have three sets of chromosomes instead of two, and missing bits of chromosomes or where a region has not properly split and is on the wrong side ( translocation) I guess it picks up most defects serious enough to cause a miscarriage but it's only as good as the microscope and the person operating it. Next step up is microarray which straightens out the DNA and compares it to a known normal sample, then sequencing panels of particular genes associated with a condition, then whole exome sequencing - looking at the DNA sequences of all the active bits of every chromosome.

I do think the hyperfertility thing is used as a bit of a fobbing off tool, though I'm sure it applies to a subset of people. I was "hyperfertile" until MC4 was normal karyotype, then local RMC were Confused

just hang in there with the breastfeeding. It's hard work for them when they are tiny. F had a NG tube for a few days because she just got too tired trying to feed, she was using more calories trying to suck than she was getting. It's a balance giving them enough opportunity to do it for themselves and making sure they get enough milk to thrive. Once he's a bit stronger you might want to consider a nursing supplementer, which is a bag you wear round your neck with a tube that you tape to your boob, so they get a top up of expressed milk or formula while they are nursing. I did a few weeks of the dairy cow 3 hourly expressing, but it was worth it to get her going - we are about to hit a year of BF and still going strong Smile

longestlurkerever · 21/05/2015 18:55

jady yeay! Big step!

march hugs. What cruel timing and to happen a second time is just shit.

brummie handhold.

baking how is baby faith? Are you getting anywhere with her assessments?

Brummiegirl15 · 21/05/2015 19:34

Well I got on a plane, held my wee, landed, still held it, drove home and peed.

And I haven't a clue. I did a frer and I think there is a very very faint line. DP reckons he can't see anything.

I'm not confident and is it just wishful thinking?

So will take progesterone tomorrow as that will be day 7 and test again Saturday morning with fmu.

This is why I should not have sodding well tested!!!!!!

I'd do a pic but I'm convinced I'm imagining it so I doubt any of you will see it

Brummiegirl15 · 21/05/2015 19:34

Jady hurrah!!!! xx

Marchgirl · 21/05/2015 19:37

Yay jady! So pleased to hear your good scan news.

biscuits, under the Coventry theory, the hyperfertility is only half the story. The incorrectly prepared lining accepts eggs that it shouldn't, but it also doesn't properly support good eggs. This can cause problems with the forming placenta, meaning that when the blood starts to flow through it, it fails. Also, as the egg implants there is supposed to be a barrier that forms been the baby and the mother to stop it being attacked. I think sometimes this is not properly formed. I hope that's right (and makes sense). So a lining that's not properly prepared is a double whammy of badness, for good eggs and bad.

Marchgirl · 21/05/2015 19:39

How confusing brummie! Sounds promising but hopefully it will be clearer tomorrow

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/05/2015 19:41

Lurking to see if Brummie has some news for us yet....

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/05/2015 19:42

Crap, cross posted, fingers crossed for FMU tomorrow Brummie
