My ds shouts 'poo bag' everywhere we go. That's normal behaviour right! Smile

CheesyMash · 21/04/2015 18:49

monten sorry the consultant was a complete bitch! Hope you never need to see her again!

Loving all lovely words the little ones are saying, ha ha!

NotSpartacus · 21/04/2015 18:56

Monten if they're sending you to ACU it's probably better not to have the hysteroscopy now anyway. One of my docs told me tests go "out of date" so best to have them all as precurser to any treatment. I've had two hysteroscopies but both were after other tests (hsg that showed a mystery thing in my uterus -which turned out to be nothing and a hycosy that had a fuzzy image which is a sign of all sorts of nasties, but in this case was a sign of doctor incompetence!) . So, to the docs it may seem like a big thing to go for without other, less invasive tests. Anyway, push for the ACU as soon as you can.

Seb i think you should go on the offensive a bit. They're not helping you at the moment, so I'd be inclined to ask a lot of (non aggressive) questions, like:

  • did you ask him why he threw the pig? Why not?
  • what steps have you taken to encourage him to play with other things?
  • does he play with other children? If not, what steps have they taken to help him find friends in the group?
They are supposed to be professionals, so put the onus back on them to help. If they think there is an issue, they need to explain why and what they are doing - not look to you to fix it, especially as he sounds a delight at home.
Boozle80 · 21/04/2015 18:57

The worst moment was at a christening during the prayers where the conversation went something like this:
DD: (Whispered) "Mummy, was Jesus a man?"
Me: "Yes, he was, shhh, people are thinking"
DD: "Phoebe (my step-daughter, also 3 at the time), Phoebe... (No response), PHOEBE, Jesus has a PENIS!"
Phoebe: "hehehehehe, Jesus has a penis, a penis, Daisy (DD's name), he's a boy so he must have a penis."
Cue both girls shouting the word penis louder and louder as we tried to shut them up...

girliesaints · 21/04/2015 18:58

Brummie, absolutely made up for you and please stay away from any nasty germs in the meantime!

Sebs , your Ds sounds like any other perfectly normal child. Does he have a key worker who monitors him and if so, could it be an issue with their lack of experience? The reason I ask is last year DD started wetting herself and according to her key worker it was because she has a urinary infection (she didn't)but as I kept pointing out she didn't do it at home. Turned out she was distracted playing at nursery and couldn't bother to queue for the toilet. Spoken to a more mature member of staff and she agreed and made sure she went straight after each meal and hey presto she didn't wet herself again.

girliesaints · 21/04/2015 18:59

Diddly- we equally get poo bag (or some other iteration) shouted in our house!

LadyGooGaa · 21/04/2015 19:04

Hello! I'm new so please be gentle!
I'm 41 and 8 wks preg after fertility treatment. This is my 4th pregnancy. I have one 6 year old boy.
Finding it hard to be happy about it as I just feel like I will lose it anyway... Presume this is 'normal' after mc.
Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Boozle80 · 21/04/2015 19:10

Welcome Lady, everyone on here is lovely and super kind. Congratulations on your BFP. The first twelve weeks are horrible but they're one step closer to meeting your little one, have the consultants done anything differently this time?

LadyGooGaa · 21/04/2015 19:13

Thank you Boozle! No, only very close monitoring until wk 6 when we saw a heart beat. Now been referred back to my Gynae and my next apt is at 9 wks.
I'm having a horrendous first trimester. Very very VERY nauseous with a bitter, metallic taste in my mouth. My tits are ENORMOUS which is pleasing but strange. I feel much more pregnant than last time which I suppose is a good sign as I had a missed mc.
Anyway, hi again!!

Boozle80 · 21/04/2015 19:21

Yup, my boobs out boobed bravissimo - they don't go up to my size, gulp! DH seems most pleased with the situation...

bakingtins · 21/04/2015 19:38

Welcome lady all sounding positive so far. Here to handhold as long as necessary. First trimester after multiple losses is the pits.

jady I got my early scan for heparin at Southmead EPU then was seen fortnightly (and weekly in my danger period of 8-10 weeks) for scans/check ups by the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Did they not come up with a plan for your next pregnancy before discharging you? I was discharged when my tests were normal, having told them I was going to Coventry. I sent them a copy of the Coventry protocol letter then phoned EPU when I got my BFP and then they booked the clinic appointments from there. Get in touch directly (phone EPU when they are open or contact your consultant's secretary) now, so you have a plan in place when you get your BFP, it's a stressful enough time without chasing people at that point.

Brummiegirl15 · 21/04/2015 20:26

Welcome Lady - congrats on the 4th pregnancy and yes it's the most bloody terrifying feeling. We'll be here to hold your hand.

I've been out and bought zinc tonight so that and vit c will fight off germs . And infectious people need to stay the other side of M42 and M5 and come nowhere near me!!!!!

However I have come to the conclusion that baby bomb scan pictures on fb are like whack-a-mole.

You bash one (unfollow) and another one pops up the next day.

For the love of god...

Frecklefire · 21/04/2015 20:30

Sebs, if it's any consolation my ds goes through 3 outfits a day at nursery, because he insists on tipping any juice/water over himself, and my ds is most definitely a genius, infact, he is the fucking mesiah!!!!!Grin

strubidooo · 21/04/2015 20:57

Just coming out of lurkdom again.

On midlands today (BBC) this evening, there was a news story on the work that Coventry do. Prof Quenby was on the segment and was talking about cycles and body clocks. An interesting thing from it was that night workers have more issues with their body clock and this impacts womb lining etc.

I've just checked Iplayer and the episode hasn't come on yet. I have probably explained it all wrong, but its something that I have never heard before.

Brummiegirl15 · 21/04/2015 20:59

Ooh I'm Midlands - but was at Tesco so missed it. The glamour of my Tuesday night

Need to find on iplayer clearly!!!!

Jady77 · 21/04/2015 21:14

Baking no, no plan from consultant, just try again and say hi to Siobhan for him. He said they used to have miscarriage clinic, but couldn't keep it going (assuming funding). This was at RUH.

Is there a recurrent miscarriage clinic at southmead? My GP wasn't sure, but said she'd speak with other GP's to try and find out how I could get scan.

I've only ever received the generic appointment letter (not even consultants name on) so will try number on that.
So plan is once I receive letter from Coventry will give to GP and arrange appointment with her. At same time I'll contact RUH epu to pass on message to consultant and go from there. I know they won't do anything without the letter and so will be close with poas results.

Thanks Baking, that really helps. I do find it very stressful. GP said the stuff I was asking about was all beyond the realm of GP, so really need to be under gynae umbrella.

Sorry one more question, does the Coventry letter come with test results or could I ask them for it now?

girliesaints · 21/04/2015 21:24

Welcome lady and congratulations on bfp. It's pretty scary when you get one after our histories but the lovely ladies on here will hand hold all the way x

Brummiegirl15 · 21/04/2015 21:47

Jady I chased Kerri today for my results and she said the letter would be attached to my emailed results which should be between 4-6 weeks after my appointment

Minnie74 · 21/04/2015 22:26

brummie that's bloody fantastic news! So pleased for you! A good secretary is a godsend!

sebs your ds sounds like a perfectly normal two year old, especially with his speech delay maybe causing frustration if they're not taking the time to get to know him and how he is able to communicate. He sounds gorgeous at home. My 3 year old harrases the cat constantly too- poor old thing! And he is totally one for routine, slightly easing off now but when he was two bedtime took a bloody lifetime as we had to go through exactly the same things in exactly the same order (down to the exact words I had to say!) All kids have their own little weirdnesses! i agree with Spartacus about putting the onus back on them to help you if they're so concerned. Please try not to worry.

lady congrats and lots of hand holding on this thread.

boozle pleased I'm not the only one who has no bras to choose from when pg! I only got to 12 weeks and I was one cup size off the top! Another reason why I need to lose weight for next time!

ThePopAndCry · 21/04/2015 22:45

spartacus if it’s any help, I’m in the same situation with my dh re trying again. But I’ve said I need to get all of the tests and investigations done and all the results back before I can make any decisions. I just don’t think we can make such a big decision about the future of our family without getting all the facts and advice first, if that makes sense. But I can totally see it from my dh's point of view. I mean, why, potentially, go through it all over again?

brummie am so pleased for you! ?

sebs I do a lot of SEN work at school and, FWIW, I think other posters are right when they said you might want to ask the nursery some more questions. It might be worth asking how your ds is doing against the early learning goals (or whatever assessment they use). This will be more useful for the Ed Psych and Speech and Language therapist than nursery’s off the cuff observations. It will also give you all a fair assessment of your ds’ progress across a range of areas, not just if he likes the pig game or not (it really did sound like a stupid game!) Also, has nursery said his behaviour has recently changed? My ds has been particularly unsettled since we lost our dd - I CANNOT get him to cooperate to brush his sodding teeth, for example – and it’s because he knows something upsetting and sad has happened but can’t yet talk about it. So it manifests itself in not cooperating to have his bloody teeth brushed! Yes, it's 'bad' behaviour but it's a phase that will pass (I hope so, anyway!) Finally, if the nursery is connected to the primary school, have the nursery staff got access to the support of the school’s SENCo who may be able to offer advice and next steps for all of you? Maybe worth suggesting it as it will help the school when he eventually makes the transition to them anyway. Keep us all updated. x

freckle sorry, forgot where you were up too with things Blush If it’s any consolation, my cycles seem to be all over the fecking place and despite desperately thinking I could get to Coventry next Friday, there is absolutely no sign of ov happening. So, no idea when I’ll get there. Am with you on the weight-loss thing. Have avoided all cakes and biscuits in the staff room since Easter and am well-pleased with myself!

lady so sorry you find yourself here but have fingers crossed your symptoms bode well.

monten I’m sorry you didn’t get the referral you wanted. Hopefully the ACU will look into everything as well anyway?

Waves to the rest of you lovely ladies and sorry for mahoosive post! Am having blood tests for thyroid function and vitamin d deficiency tomorrow at GP's. Am getting very fed up of blood tests now... x

Justonemoretime · 22/04/2015 07:23

Sebs, sorry your ds' nursery is being difficult. I can't really add to what's already been said, but it sounds like he's 'normal' by anyone's standards.
Brummie, so glad you got that cancellation.
Waves to everyone.
Got a growth scan today at 31 weeks. Can't help but worry that something will be awry, although hopefully it will all be fine...

OP posts:
mrsdiddlydoo · 22/04/2015 07:42

just wow! 31 weeks. Smile How exciting and most probably nerve wracking all at the same time. Hope the scan goes well.

longestlurkerever · 22/04/2015 07:53

sebs you poor thing. I read your thread and you sound so loving and calm - very professional! I wonder if the nursery staff just don't come across many two year olds? Pre schools round here are for the year before school unless there happen to be spare spaces. I did come across a bit of the same at dd's preschool when they seemed so surprised that she wasn't great at following instructions or the toilet. It wasn't that i disagreed with their feedback or minded hearing it per se but it was the surprised tone that I struggled with. They made out like in ten years of teaching they had never come across a just three year old with toilet issues or one that didn't like sitting and listening.

brummie Yeay! So pleased everything is back on track. Must help relations with dp too.

I have been arguing loads with mine this week too. Don't know why really. I just seem to be rubbing him up the wrong way. Sad

Had a growth scan yesterday which was all fine. Mentioned movements had been a bit quieter and they sent me for a heart trace which was also fine (of course) Blush

Fantastic news about all the bfps. We have ourselves a roll!

Brummiegirl15 · 22/04/2015 07:54

Good luck Just and mini Just - 31 weeks, wowsers!!! Not long now.

Am just sat in the car park at the hospital before my pre-op coughing away trying to get it all out the way before I go in!

Am not having this one taken away from me!!!!

longestlurkerever · 22/04/2015 08:06

pop Just to warn you dd has made teeth brushing a nightly battle for the last 3 years. It's exhausting!
