Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Thanks Girlie. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. It must be very hard for her. I could cry everytime I see my nephew, he was born two weeks before my 1st would be due if I hadn't mc'd.

Your manager may have a point about time but it's so hard to see others get it so easy when we cannot. I hope all the girls on here don't have to suffer anymore. We've all been through too much!

Hugs to bythesea for your losses and complications. My friend had a baby with one tube and ovary so it can be done!!!

Franchie I'm glad you have found a local group and you're seeing a consultant. I cannot believe someone said that to you Flowers

Sadly there is no support group near where I live. My area is an infertility and mc black hole!!

Hi all, just checking in. Here's my re-cap (bit late, sorry...!)

Me: 35 (36 next Sunday!) and OH: 34.

MC1 - missed m/c at 12 week scan, 6-7 week size, Dec 2007
MC2 - natural m/c at 11 weeks, April 2014
MC3 - missed m/c at 9 week scan, 6.4 size, October 2014

We are now awaiting an appt in Dec for blood tests, and fingers crossed, consultant soon after.

If the NHS don't find anything, we will try Coventry.

Welcome to the newbies and hello everyone else!

Justonemoretime · 30/11/2014 19:35

Francine, here's a link to my blog where I have gathered a few links to research as well as my anecdotal experience about it from local services, St Mary's, London, and Coventry justonemoretimeagain.wordpress.com/2014/10/05/it-cant-do-any-harm-the-aspirin-problem/. You can also research other related published research on here. I think taking the aspirin with progesterone after conception may have helped keep the Turner's baby going until 10 weeks, and it might have gone much earlier with out it (my 'danger point' was 6 and a half weeks previously). Professor Quenby actually said that had it not had genetic issues, she believed it would have carried to term with the support of the aspirin/progesterone combo. It was the preconception aspirin that I think caused the issue. I think that, had implantation not been disrupted by it, my body would just never have accepted that dodgy fertilized egg, I would not have conceived that month and so that is me reasoning as to how the aspirin caused the miscarriage. I'm on progesterone (400mg twice daily from bfp) and heparin (from 5 and a bit weeks) now, and I have passed the 'danger point'. The next scan on the 9th will reveal whether I have also passed 'danger point #2' and got to 11 weeks. I am quite anxious about this... but trying to reason with myself that the odds are in my favour...
In the mean time, please don't stop meds on my account, but please do see if you can find a doctor or some research that you find gives you a basis for a confident decision. Good luck.

Congrats charlie I missed your news earlier and welcome all the newbies.

Catlover2014 · 30/11/2014 20:15

Can you ladies please share what you know about Turner syndrome? I don't know what caused my two mcs and I've wondered if that's possibly it? If a woman has a TS related mcs does it mean she is likely to have more or is it just a one off bad luck thing? X

Justonemoretime · 30/11/2014 20:27

Hi Cat, Turner's syndrome is a totally random genetic issue where the baby is missing all or part of the second X chromosome, so it only affects girls. 97% of girls affected mc, but some can live with disabilities including short stature and short life expectancy. If they do reach maturity, they are sterile. Its not anything parents pass on. The way implantation normally works is that receptivity and selectively are balanced so that genetically chaotic fertilized eggs don't implant, basically your body knows the difference. In hyper fertility, too many imperfect ones get to implant, and then fail to progress leading to CPs and early MCs. The reverse is that you're too selective and it takes ages to conceive. My theory is that my selectivity was probably borderline hyper fertile but aspirin made it really unselective, hence the Turner's baby was implanted when it should have been rejected. I know, rationally its unlikely to happen again, but once bitten etc...

Thanks Just that makes sense. So sad to think of the little girls who make it and have to live with all that. I know you must be worried but sounds like it's very unlikely to strike your way again. I'm keeping everything crossed for you and your baby. This will be your time!! X

tannyLoo · 30/11/2014 22:03

Charlie, so pleased to know you saw a heartbeat, that is such a thrilling sight! Keeping everything crossed for things continuing in such a positive way.

Welcome newbies, sorry you're here, but hope we can handhold and advise.

Justonemoretime · 01/12/2014 07:07

Thanks for your kind and wise words, Cat. I wish the same for you, too.
A night of crazy dreams for me, being in a land slide in an off road vehicle; being buried and hit on the head by mud, being covered in a swarm of bees; driving a car up a vertical incline and falling off; running a marathon up a vertical incline but its too slippery with water and sweat and I can't do it; having a disastrous lesson observation at school which leads to the headmaster trying to send me back to my previous job because 'I haven't worked out'. Do you think I'm anxious about something?! Shock

Catlover2014 · 01/12/2014 07:11

What a horrible night just Flowers It's all playing on your mind I bet. I read somewhere that pregnancy hormones can cause strange and bad dreams too. Hopefully you will feel better when you're up and about. XxX

bakingtins · 01/12/2014 07:14

charlie thrilled there was a heartbeat. Keep the good scans coming!

bakingtins · 01/12/2014 07:21

Welcome francine and good luck with the current pregnancy. Hopefully this one will be different and you'll only need your consultant for a scan (they won't do the Rm tests if you're pregnant) I've heard good things about acupuncture particularly in respect of improving lining quality.

bakingtins · 01/12/2014 07:23

just mad pregnancy dreams are a good sign!

Catlover2014 · 01/12/2014 07:39

That's good to know baking!

When is your next scan just?

Justonemoretime · 01/12/2014 07:41

9th December. Feels like ages...

OP posts:
Triplespin · 01/12/2014 08:37

Great news Charlie!! Hb is an excellent start to hopefully future successful scans.

I agree longest - don't worry about the age gap. I had 9 years with my brother and we were great friends - though less so now as all busy with their own families. DS is 6 - so I know if we ever have a sibling there will be a big age gap. I don't think it's about having a playmate but just the knowledge that you have a family beyond your parents (or that is how I make myself feel better).

My stats

Me - 36. DS 1 - 6 yrs. TTC 2 for nearly 2 years. 3 mcs.

MC1- June 2013, 5+3
MC2 - Feb 2014, 6+3 (blighted ovum)
MC3 - August 2014, missed miscarriage 8wks on preds, IL (trisomy 22).

So my miscarriage length is actually getting longer Grin

Next steps, awaiting karyotyping and other results from local RMC. Likely going down the private treatment route with IVF and full immunes.

Flen · 01/12/2014 10:47

Morning all, quick question about genetic testing - how long has it taken for the results of karyotyping to come back for people? My D&C was nearly six weeks ago and we haven't heard anything yet...

Marchgirl · 01/12/2014 11:31

Mine came back after about 5 to say they couldn't culture the cells. I wouldn't say that 6 would be unreasonable, they told me it would take that long, but might be worth giving them a call anyway

Purplefrogshoes · 01/12/2014 11:40

Yay charlie just I am having crazy dreams too, dh says I keep waking him up thrashing around and shouting out Confused
I'm off work today as it's a public holiday and I have been sick since 5am! Sad

Marchgirl · 01/12/2014 12:02

Aw purple. I feel for you. The sickness is utterly miserable. Hopefully it will ease of soon. Mine improved after 16 Wks and was totally gone by 20, but for a lot of people it's gone sooner, so you never know. Did you end up taking anything or are you managing without?

bythesea82 · 01/12/2014 12:24

flen they told me 6 weeks for mine but also that results are sent to gynae consultant secretary here for consultant to pass on, RMC don't see them so that delays things further. Guess that's prob region specific though.
purple hope you're feeling a bit better Flowers

charlieis30 · 01/12/2014 12:41

flen mine took around 6w but I'd done mine privately so the hospital just didn't get back to me. I ended up getting my GP surgery to call the lab directly to request the results, then I got them as soon as I could get in to see the GP. Highly recommend following up

Catlover2014 · 01/12/2014 15:44

Is it normal for sickness to come and go? Felt awful Saturday. Nothing today or yesterday. Fearing the baby may have passed away :( xx

Marchgirl · 01/12/2014 15:53

Yes. Totally normal cat. Mine was pretty much constant but i know a lot of people who said it was intermittent for them. When's your scan? I'm not even going to say try not to worry because i know that's impossible, but don't rely on sickness (or lack of) as an indicator. Hugs Flowers
