Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Hi all. My 2nd time back to this thread as went for a 2nd scan today at 9 weeks and found out baby had died. ERPC scheduled for Friday morning.

This make 3 losses in a row since May. Just devastated and in shock. No pain, no bleeding. Nothing.

My stats

Brummiegirl15, 38, TTC #1
1st mc. @ 5 weeks May 14
2nd mc @ 9 weeks August 14 with ERPC
3rd mc @ 9 weeks December 14 with ERPC booked.

Happy fucking new year to me.

Only glimmer of hope is that my hospital have already started the referral for the reccurent mc so no seeing my GP trying to get referred.

How many times must we go through this? We saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks, loss at 9 weeks. Feel broken

Justonemoretime · 31/12/2014 19:29

Brummiegirl, so sorry to hear about your losses. How horrible for you. Glad you're getting referred. Sorry, this will sound horrible, but make sure you get genetic testing on the 'products', the more information you have, the better you will be in getting some answers and a plan. Hope your recovery is reasonably quick and as straight forward as possible. Horrible time for you, look after yourself.

brummie just replied to you on another thread to suggest you came here, and to echo just's advice about genetic testing. I'm sorry you've had such a shitty year, but don't lose hope,I had 3 losses in a 10m period 2012-13 and am sitting here nursing my 7m old daughter. Kick 2014 in to touch and hope for much better things next year.

Brummiegirl15 · 31/12/2014 19:39

Thanks both. Being "experienced" at this means I asked about the testing of tissue today and signed the consent form for it.

I think the shock is from seeing a hb 2 weeks ago and had no pain, no bleeding. Nothing.

So I'm well and truly a member of this thread

barkingtreefrog · 31/12/2014 19:49

So sorry brummie it always seems worse when it happens at a time of year when everyone is supposed to be happy and celebrating. Thanks
Glad you're already in the system, hope you don't have to wait too long for your first appointment.
I'm also still trying for my first.

Good riddance 2014, bring on 2015 Grin.

Marchgirl · 31/12/2014 22:59

So sorry brummie, awful news at any time but so hard at this time of year and so late on after good scan. Hugs Flowers

Totally agree Barking. Let's get rid of 2014 ASAP. I'm already tucked up in bed but have set my alarm for 23:59 just to witness it buggering off completely.
Wishing you all the very best of luck for next year everyone xxx

twilightstruggle · 01/01/2015 00:16

I just lurk at the moment but wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to brummie and bootles. I'm really so very sorry that you're having to go through this at all, let alone at this time. Of year. 2014 can do one!

twilightstruggle · 01/01/2015 00:21

And congrats cava and happy new year everyone else!

longestlurkerever · 01/01/2015 00:22

cloudjumper · 01/01/2015 01:30

Brummie, we've 'met' on the ttc after MC thread - so so sorry that you've had the awful news again... Hope your hospital will get on with the testing and try to get to the bottom of this. Wishing you lots of strength for Friday.

Bootles, hope you are recovering from the ERPC and that you are being looked after.

Happy New Year, everyone. Wishing you all a happy/happier 2015, may your dreams and wishes come true.

Hi everyone
Hoping someone might be able to give me alittle advice, I have had 4 perivous miscarriages all between 5-7 weeks I am now on my 5th pregancy taking clexane injections and up to 10 weeks nearly, my worry is that they only want me to carry on these injections until 12 weeks but everything I have read online the majority of people stay on them upto 36 weeks or even up to birth , my massive concern is that they will take me off them and then I will start to miscarry? I really don't know how I would cope if this were to happen !!! We have had 2 weekly scans since 6 weeks and everything looks perfectly so far ! Has anyone else experienced these injections ? Or can anyone give me any other advise I really think I need to talk to them about keeping me on them but scared if they say no !
Thank you x

Justonemoretime · 01/01/2015 08:32

Hi Star, Sorry for your previous losses, and congrats on getting so far this time. I don't know your particular medical circumstances, but I took heparin until seeing a good scan at 12 weeks and then was advised to stop. 15 weeks now. There are lots of ladies on this board at various advanced stages of pregnancy and even some baby graduates who have also done the same and stopped the injection at 12 weeks. If you were prescribed it only for RMC, for the cryoprotective effect on the placental cells, then stopping after a good 12 week scan seems normal. I think it can be safely taken for longer for other medical issues because it treats underlying medical issues, but if its just supporting placental development, 12 weeks seems fine. This is the advice from profs Brosens and Quenby in Coventry who run the implantation clinic, which many of us have attended. Good luck. x

Hi star I'm another who did clexane inj up to 12 weeks (and progesterone and steroids) and then stopped everything. It felt a bit scary to be 'flying solo' when I was convinced those meds had made all the difference, but it was fine and she's 7m now. I'd clarify with your doctor why you are on them as for clotting issues the clexane should be continued into third trimester, but if it's for placental support you should be fine to stop. Congratulations on getting so far and good luck! When's your next scan?

barkingtreefrog · 01/01/2015 09:42

Hi star as just & baking have already said, it depends on the reason for taking it. If I get pg again I'll be taking it (not clexane but dalteparin, a mild heparin) from bfp through to 6 weeks post birth, as I've been diagnosed with factor V leiden thrombophilia. If you are taking it for reasons other than blood clotting, it seems to be from a scan to confirm it's not ectopic to 12 weeks.

Off to scout out the new thread....

Star2489 · 01/01/2015 09:55

Hi thanks everyone
I had all my blood clotting test back and one was slightly high so I had a retest and it same back normal so on my 4th pregnancy I asked if I could take aspirin as I know this had worked for others but my specialist said no all he wanted to try me on was the cyclogest pesserie even tho all my hormone test were normal so I gave it ago and it ended in MC again, he decided to try me on these clexane injections as my test was slightly high in the first place for this pregnancy and do far seems to be doing the trick one other thing I have noticed and this could be nothing to do with it but I feel I does, I have a very large sticky out vein in my calf and before this pregnancy I went to my gp about it as It was causing me some pain and swelling and pins and needles down that leg! He said there was no clot there and just to use hot water bottles to help !! Since I have been on these injections all that has stopped my vein has visibly reduced and looks normal ! I can't help but think there is a link and even tho my tests only showed a slight raise! I think that actually It plays a big part for me when it comes to pregnancy and I'm scared to come off them incase any clotting issues start !
X

Star2489 · 01/01/2015 09:56

Oh sorry forgot to answer about Scan - I have my 10 week scan tomorrow morning and my midwife appointment on the 8th x

TinyTear · 01/01/2015 10:52

Hi star. 25 weeks now and also stopped clexane at 13 weeks

longestlurkerever · 01/01/2015 12:04

star it does sound like you could maybe do with pushing your Dr to prescribe heparin for a bit longer if it is relayed to a clotting issue. I am no expert though.

Catlover2014 · 01/01/2015 14:38

It's 2015 lovely ladies!!!! I hope this year brings you all good fortune and healthy pregnancies.

Brummiegirl I'm so very sorry to read your post, was only thinking abt you the other day. Hope you're resting up?

It's an awful time of year to go through this, I had a bad scan at 9 weeks on NYE last year so I know just how you feel.

Hope you can push for lots of tests including genetic. The good news is you can conceive easily and with the right help I am sure you will get there! Have you considered seeing the nice people at Coventry? At least it's not far to travel for us Birmingham folks...

Star it's so hard coming off the meds. I'm 13 weeks now and am taking my just in case aspirin every other day as I'm too scared to go cold turkey. I would ask your GP if they will let you stay on the injections for longer as things are going so well. Good luck for your scan on Friday!

I have my nuchal / dating nhs scan next week on Tuesday and am nervous already. I'll be almost 14 weeks then all being well. Wanted it sooner but there was no chance. I pretty much had to beg the hospital to do this scan as they are so under resourced ATM.

XxX

bootles · 01/01/2015 14:58

brummie I am so so sorry. Its awful after having a good scan too, and my heart goes out to you. I've just had yet another mc after a couple of good scans, and know it hurts like hell. One day at a time. I hope your RMC appointment comes through fast. We are here for you.

bootles · 01/01/2015 15:00

star I agree with everyone else - depends if you are on the clexane for clotting or not. Good luck for tomorrow - ask everyone you see the clexane question.

Thank you cat for your message. How are you doing? Well rested I hope..

bootles · 01/01/2015 15:10

cava it is all very confusing. I was deemed to have a raised TEG by St.Marys, and was prescribed clexane, but later (after it ended in mc) was told I did not in fact have a raised TEG and even if I had, would only have been prescribed clexane in certain circumstances, though I am unclear what those circumstances would be. They also never suggested progesterone or high dose folic for me, but I know others were prescribed it there. So opinion seems to differ between consultants even within the same clinic. I understand the need to do all you can, so agree you should arrange to speak with someone there, so even if they don't prescribe it, they can at least give you their rationale for not doing so. Great you have a bfp, Best of luck, and keep us updated.

bootles · 01/01/2015 15:17

cat good luck with the scan!

I managed to tell my sister about everything - she only knew about the first 2 and I think was a bit shocked that there have been 3 more. She was very supportive about it all, and I am relieved to have told a family member. In the meantime I feel exhausted.

I hope 2015 brings us all what we most wish for. Hugs to everyone x
