flen, with my last m/c I had some small clotty bits with my first af, which came a few weeks after I'd stopped bleeding from the m/c, so I think this is still normal and might not necessarily mean retained pregnancy tissue, just uterine lining. And they did warn me that the first period might be heavier, which is what I took this to mean.
My first m/c I bled for 7 weeks after the foetus passed, but my first af came at 5 weeks (during the m/c bleeding). I have no idea if I was still testing positive then as i was never told to test. Have you done a test recently?

bootles · 20/11/2014 23:13

flen one of my 1st af's post mc was nearly as bad as the mc itself. As per epu, the first AF can sort of flush out any remains from the mc. Maybe see how it goes and get checked if you're still passing clots?

Flen · 21/11/2014 07:22

Thanks bootles and March. My previous two afs following m/c have been fairly straightforward. I did another test on Tues and it came back negative, so that is good, and means this could be AF proper. Will keep an eye. March that sounds incredibly confusing and hard to have bled for so long, and after your first too.

Great scan news just I am beginning to pysche myself up for the 12 week one.
boozle what a dilemma. One thing you might want to check, you may be able to get reassurance scans through walk in, but what about your 12 week scan and bloods? Not sure they would do this through walk in.
flen good to know things are settling down for you.
well I was woken up this morning by excruciatingly painful nipples. Discovered one of them haD a massive, thick, jet black in growing hair. Pregnancy is many things, glamorous is not one of them. I ain't complaining.

Boozle80 · 21/11/2014 09:47

Ah Flen, if you had a negative test then I reckon it'll be AF - my doctor said that if there was anything left at all I wouldn't get a negative test. Hope everyone is having an ok Friday?

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/11/2014 10:40

Arghhh... Was doing ok. Could punch myself for checking fb when I've been avoiding it only to find out a colleague who sits within a couple of metres of me has just posted 12 week scan photos. Today was being a positive day. I wish I had more control over my emotions. Right. must win lottery this weekend so I don't have to go back to work next week. Or ever. Rant over. Sorry ladies.

charlieis30 · 21/11/2014 11:12

I just don't understand posting scan photos to FB. Why would anyone want to see the inside of my uterus?

cloudjumper · 21/11/2014 11:37

I have to admit that when I was pg with DS, I did post scan photos on Fb and enjoyed receiving all the positive comments and messages I received... It's normal to want to share good news, and what news can be better than this.
However, I would take an educated guess that, like myself, you only do this if you have not had to experience a mc... Anybody I know who has, myself included, never posts scan pictures. So although it is a kick in the teethnot pleasant, I can acknowledge that these posters are blissfully unaware of the heartache their pictures can cause.
If they do know, well, then they are callous and unfeeling.

Well, things are very much up in the air for me. Had some cramping and spotting last night, and I thought, great, I'm out, AF is arriving. But then nothing so far today. Temps are staying high.
Hate this limbo. I never used to spot during my cycle before my mcs, so this is really annoying and adding to the stress Angry

Flen · 21/11/2014 11:44

tanny book just arrived, thank you! (happy to post it on to anyone else when I'm done...)

Flen · 21/11/2014 11:46

How you feeling today boozle? Thanks for the doctor info, that's reassuring.

cloud, keeping fingers crossed...

belle and charlie, you both elicited a giggle from me. Although I know from painful experience belle that ingrowing hairs are no fun at all.

Marchgirl · 21/11/2014 11:49

Sorry about you getting baby bombed mrs. It's horrible when that happens, especially when you're not expecting it.

I've just had my appointment with the rmc. It went ok I think. It was a doctor who i recognised from when i had my daughter. She said it's more than likely just bad luck, which slightly annoyed me, but prescribed cyclogest 400mg twice daily from bfp anyway, which seems to be in line with everyone else.
She has taken bloods for all the clotting things and results should be 2 to 3 weeks, so hopefully back before we starting ttc again, which is good. If they are neg then that will be it as far as she is concerned. If positive I might need to repeat them and/or she will prescribe aspirin and heparin.
Even though its not standard policy anymore she has taken bloods for the karyotyping and sent them to the lab. She seemed to be all for still testing parents but she says the lab are the sticking point, so it might not happen but she'll try to persuade them as the foetus didn't yield results.

She told me the lab never warned them about the change in policy, so they'd merrily been sending samples in for karyotyping and everyone just got a 'we don't do this anymore' type response. Pretty bad really!

tannyLoo · 21/11/2014 15:29

Flen glad it arrived! I sometimes had a clotty first AF after MC. Only on the first day, but felt like the final clear out. Hope it's the same for you.

Cloud how exciting. I can feel something brewing for you! When will you poas?

cloudjumper · 21/11/2014 16:41

Belleende · 21/11/2014 20:02

Grrr just got home to letter from gp. Says blood sugar level is high end of normal discuss with midwife. Anyone got any experience? Is it easy to rectify by laying off the choccie biccies or are we talking wholesale diet change. Could do.without this really.

Marchgirl · 21/11/2014 20:31

Good luck for Sunday cloud. All sounds good.
Hahaha purple.
Not sure about the blood sugar belle. Fingers crossed its nothing too drastic.

Boozle80 · 21/11/2014 22:48

I don't have any experience of it Belle but my SIL had it and just had to avoid anything sweet - I'll give her a yell tomorrow and get some more specifics if it helps? That said it's probably like anything in our messed up cases that no rule fits two. Try not to worry - I'm sure if it was serious they would have called you in straight away

bakingtins · 21/11/2014 23:06

belle if it's only high normal you prob have nothing to worry about, but suspect it will trigger sending you for a glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes. If that also comes back high they try diet first ( low gi diet) and worse case scenario you need hypoglycaemic drugs or insulin. My SIL had it in all three pregnancies. I've been tested in each as family history of diabetes, but have been fine. Don't stress.

OP posts:
Belleende · 22/11/2014 08:14

Thanks ladies. Hoping not GD and something I can just tackle by eating less sweet stuff. Don't normally have sweet tooth but have been eating more goodies than usual.

cloudjumper · 22/11/2014 09:40

Belle, try not to worry too much - it's still 'normal', right? Just something they need to check. Hopefully, it was just a one off, pregnancy does all sorts of weird stuff to your body.

My temp did a big dive this morning Hmm Don't hold out much hope anymore now, probably just a matter of time until af shows up HmmHmm
