The royal free in Hampstead also said after 8w I was OK to go to 12... So I went to the FMC for a 10w scan and the harmony test.

Just, will you do harmony?

Justonemoretime · 20/11/2014 17:43

Boozle, step away from Dr Google! if you have spotting maybe get a private scan. I know you shouldn't have to pay, but maybe it will give you peace of mind?
Tiny, not sure about harmony. I was starting to think no while I thought I'd get a 10 wk scan, but if they won't then I might look into it again. I am booking in (on the strick instruction of the EPU clinic nurse) on Tuesday, so I will ask if the mw knows anywhere locally that does it, of if she can order it privately. Booking in feels like a big step, but I was told to get on with it in no uncertain terms... Shock

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 17:50

I had a scan on Tuesday - hence knowing about the bleed - baby's all fine. I was also ordered to book in but managed to get an appointment in two weeks so I'll be about ten weeks. Was thinking I might try and push it another week too - I daren't tempt fate, all my babies have died within a week of booking in. Might be worth having a scan to see that it's cleared up and reabsorbed in a week or so. I can't keep going like this! I'd be ok if it weren't for the spotting, I can't help but crap myself! Xx

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 17:52

That said I have said I don't want to do playground duty this week so I can sit as much as possible and try and stop anymore coming out!

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 17:54

Oh, and very randomly, has anyone else had a sore cervix? Don't know if it's blood just irritating it a bit or if it's something else to panic about!

Catlover2014 · 20/11/2014 17:55

Great news Just and Flen! Whoop! Happy for you both :)

To any ladies who can't get NHS scans I can't stress how helpful it is to go private. There's no help where I live on NHS so it's costing a lot but makes me feel better.

Hugs xxx

Step away from Google Boozle! My feeling on it is that you already know you have an increased chance of m/c compared to the average joe, so I don't think it's going to increase it any more than that. I would assume that this advice is compared to the regular chance of having a m/c. plus, to your benefit, you are taking meds that will help reduce your risk factors. I hope that comes out sounding positive whilst realistic. Nobody should try to convince you that you have a zero chance of m/c, but your chances of success after good hb seen at this stage are good. Keeping everything crossed that the bleeding settles so that you can relax a little.
My friend miscarried her first pregnancy now has two children, both of which she bled through the first half of the pregnancies. She was totally convinced she was miscarrying again, but didn't.
Stay positive, we're all rooting for you

Catlover2014 · 20/11/2014 18:17

Just you're like me! I don't even want my GP practice to know I'm pregnant yet!

XxX

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 18:53

March I think I love you a little bit. Thank you. That was exactly what I needed to hear. Thank goodness for you guys

charlieis30 · 20/11/2014 19:01

Actually a bit of advice please... my GP mentioned progesterone in the appt yesterday but I was trying to hard not to freak out that I didn't really push her on getting specific about whether I need it or how I get it. I'd sorta assumed that since MC2 was a trisomy, that was probs cause of MC1 as well and it's unlikely that there's another issue (e.g. a progesterone problem). Thoughts? Comments? I'm guessing you ladies know more about progesterone than the GP!

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 19:16

I'd always say it wouldn't do any harm - apparently it doesn't hurt anything to take it to you or your little one. I'm on 200 twice a day. Sorry I can't really be more helpful

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 19:20

Can I just throw into the mix that I've just had some chocolate orange segments with popping candy in them and they've made the world a much better place!

Justonemoretime · 20/11/2014 19:25

Lol Boozle, don't get those two confused! Shock
March, I'm on 400 mg twice a day and I think its pretty standard RMC treatment. I'd take it if its on offer. x

charlieis30 · 20/11/2014 19:27

How do you get it? GP?

Justonemoretime · 20/11/2014 19:28

Sorry, I meant Charlie Blush

longestlurkerever · 20/11/2014 19:56

Great stuff Just and glad you're on the road to recovery flen.

Charlie Just on choice of hospitals, I was under st Mary's in early pregnancy but they discharged me at ten weeks. There was no suggestion I would receive any different antenatal treatment after that point if I stayed with them. And I don't think they have much in the way of a birth centre or other modern comforts, though could be wrong about that. Totally agree about feeling positive. I was more "prepared" for mc3 in terms of knowing it was more likely but it still hit me much harder than the previous one. Negative thinking isn't much protection and a bit of excitement helps you get through.

No real views on progesterone. I wanted it because I think my issues were hormonal but actually didn't get it till 8 weeks and was doing ok without. I think the PROMIS trial is going to show some benefit and no real risk though - that's what the st Mary's Dr hinted, so you may want to take some on a just in case basis. Problem with mc research though is that because the causes are all different, even if something shows an on average benefit it may be of no use to some people.

Feel really rough this evening. Think I spoke too soon about symptoms vanishing. It's good really but am meant to be packing for Paris.

longestlurkerever · 20/11/2014 19:56

Ps I got mine from st Mary's but GPS can prescribe it too

Catlover2014 · 20/11/2014 20:02

My GP prescribes my progesterone. It can't do any harm other than it can delay a mc so it's good to have regular scans if you're on it. X

bootles · 20/11/2014 20:14

flen AF at least shows your body is getting back in sync. I hope you start to feel a little better soon x

Tanny glad to hear all is well. Its funny isn't it, the things we share on here. I helpfully forget it is all shared on the WWW!

Charlie firstly there are always horror stories from every hospital. St Mary's and UCH are both big decent hospitals. For more more info you could look at the CQC (Care Quality Commission) which can provide an impartial overview of both maternity departments. I agree with baking - you can always change hospitals later. Do whatever feels comfortable for the early weeks and then you can reconsider. I am doing the same - I may have to change my gp down the line to get the hospital I prefer but will cross that bridge when I get to it.

just hope you get your 10 WK scan. Are you under a RMC?

bootles · 20/11/2014 20:16

Rooting for you cloud

Glad to see you are hanging in there smoppet.

bootles · 20/11/2014 20:30

Charlie I see where you are coming from as you know at least one of your mc had a chromosomal cause. I'm on it as it the Coventry protocol, intended to assist in 'driving the uterine lining'. I wouldn't stress if you can't get it, but asking wouldn't hurt either.

Ladies with booking in worries, the only thing I was thinking is tbat you want to be booked in somewhere so you can be sure of getting your 12 WK scan on time, unless you'd be able to get it from somewhere else? Totally get your feelings about it though.

Boozle take a breath. Stop. Breathe. March put it very well. And we all know there are plenty of women who bleed in early pg and go on to have a healthy baby. The thing is, nothing at all that you do now, ie booking in, thinking positively or negatively about it, sitting or standing, is actually going to make a difference. You are already doing absolutely everything you can do. The way you are feeling is entirely normal for someone with your history, and some very annoying spotting. We all understand the panic. I have it too, and range from feeling utterly depressed and expecting a bad outcome, to allowing a sliver a hope which I hastily batton down. I can only think tbat we have to accept the stress as part of the process because it is unavoidable for us. Hang in there and I hope you manage to sort another scan soon to reassure you x

Flen · 20/11/2014 20:48

boozle hang on in there, and go back for another scan if you get really worried. A friend gave me a piece of advice which was a bit helpful in my last pregnancy, which was decide in advance on a scale of 1-10 of anxiety, which number will make you call the EPU. Then measure the anxiety on the scale when you are feeling it. Obviously it doesn't work if the anxiety is off teh scale all the time, but it sort of helped me.

I am anxious this eve too as there have been a few clots in the blood flow, which now seems to be slowing down, so I'm questioning if it is AF or if it's the retained tissue seen on the scan last week or what it is. I would say my anxiety is currently 4 out of 10. Shall we all rate our anxiety?!

longestlurkerever · 20/11/2014 20:52

flen they don't clearly it the wtf cycle for nothing! Anything goes in your first af after mc.

Boozle80 · 20/11/2014 20:57

After speaking to you guys I'd go from a 8 to a 5 :). Think it doesn't help that the OH is working so hard at the moment that I don't see him in the evenings at all as he doesn't get home until gone midnight so I'm just sitting at home festering with my mind after I've put DD to bed.
If there was still something on your previous scan it could well be that - it took nearly six weeks for my body to clear itself out after my ERPC which wasn't successful - it was mainly clots though that my body was producing to try and sort itself out so don't panic. Looks pretty scary though. If you're worried it's definitely worth nipping back to get checked in the next few days

Flen · 20/11/2014 20:58

longest too right!
