Oh, to tag people you do a * on either side of their name - check me with my technological knowledge!

smoppet · 15/11/2014 20:37

Ooh, clever, thanks boozle80. Now, what's BFP? I'm on the edge of London, I have an array of crap hospitals to choose from! Will look and see what the other EPUs do, thanks. My first mc was at the hospital in the crap town I grew up in, and they were brilliant - I couldn't believe how awful the London hospital was on follow up and at the next mc. And the woman in the EPAU where they send you from a&e (but which won't take self referrals) was brilliant at the second time with her cheery "ooh, I recognise you!" . I feel much better than I did 4 hours ago (chocolate) and will just see what happens at the scan on Monday. Thanks for the tea and sympathy, I hope all goes well for you, Boozle. How many weeks are you? X

bakingtins · 15/11/2014 20:40

EPAU = early pregnancy assessment, so they should see you in the early weeks. >18 weeks you'd normally go to maternity assessment if there was a problem. There's some variation in different areas so best to ring someone local and find out where and how you can be seen. Our EPU is only Monday-Friday and set hours but some are walk-in. It's really crap when your heart sinks and you think history must be repeating itself, hope you are wrong though.

Sorry, missed the bit where you have a scan Monday. I think I'd try sit it out until then if you can. Good luck!

Im 6 weeks, 6 days - BFP is big fat positive (test). It's a minefield trying to find the right care and people that seem to listen to you but they are out there. The place I found the one I go to was on www.earlypregnancy.org.uk/findus2.asp?region=South%20East they say next to them if you can self refer or not - it's tricky having to drive an hour and a half each way two or three times a week but so worth it to feel like I'm being looked after. Keeping everything crossed for you

smoppet · 15/11/2014 20:53

Sorry bakingtins you're right: MAU here is >18/40 but sadly our EPAU is not walk in, it's only via a&e. I only got the scan appointment on Thursday, if they hadn't called me with that I probably would have gone somewhere by now. The thing is I just feel so ambivalent now; I'd rearranged my whole life thinking I was pregnant (I'm on Mat leave you see), and since Tuesday have rearranged it all back again - but now the big bleed hasn't come so I don't know if I'm coming or going - hence the rage today. Oh well, only 36hours left to wait. We have two amazing DDs, so we're so lucky, I had really given up hope we'd get DD2 (6 years after DD1), so if this isn't happening it's not as terrible as the others. So it's the waiting that's crap. 36h, that's all. Thanks again for your kind words & help.

smoppet · 15/11/2014 20:57

Thanks Boozle. 7 weeks tomorrow, well done. It's awful how slowly the time goes, and the complete inability to take your mind off it; good luck, hope this one sticks for you. X

Boozle80 · 15/11/2014 21:01

Thanks Smoppet it's crazy how time slows down. I'm just I'm counting the minutes between the days. All we can do is hope :)

Boozle80 · 15/11/2014 21:01

And stick pessaries up my bum...

smoppet · 15/11/2014 21:11

Thank god for progesterone pessaries. I used to run out of time in the morning and have to run for the train, so take them with me and do it in the communal loos at college, always very stressful/hilarious. It was nice once I had a friend in class i'd told, she found it hilarious so would check with me that I'd done it that day!

Boozle80 · 15/11/2014 21:23

Lol, I commented to my DP the other day that I never thought that violating myself on a daily basis would become routine!

charlieis30 · 16/11/2014 08:43

Smoppet you do need a referral from GP for the EPU but I've found UCLH in Euston excellent. They diagnosed my last MC and did my ERPC and were fantastic every step of the way. The EPU is also in the "OB problems" area - e.g. the other women there were dealing with miscarriages, or worse ovarian or uterine cancers - no happy pregnant ladies. I'll be going back there again if I have further problems and defo to give birth.

Had a very faint line on an amazon cheapie this morning (cd27) so here's hoping...

longestlurkerever · 16/11/2014 10:19

Charlie yeay! Get you dropping that un, casual as you please. Fingers crossed for you. We are on a roll atm.

Welcome smoppet. Here's a hand to hold till monday. I hope your latest scare proves to be nothing more than that. Thanks for the story of hope re your dd2.

Bit of a wobble again today. Symptoms have really eased off already (was 12w yesterday) but I have no movement or proper bump yet and is weeks till my next appointment. Any words of wisdom?

Belleende · 16/11/2014 10:20

Welcome Mrs D and smoppet. Sorry you are having such a shitty time. Sounds like waitining it out til tomorrow is the way to go. Don't want to give false hope but there are plenty of examples of women with your symptoms who have a positive outcome.
cloudjumper I had chronic cystitis a few years back. I hated being on abs evry second month. I looked into waterfall d mannose didn't use it in the end as cystitis cleared up. Don't think the evidence is great, but the theory made sense to me (all about lessening the grip of the bacteria on the bladder wall) and the substance is pretty inert. May be worth a go.
bristol how you didn't smack your registrar I will never know. You would expect people in his profession to know better.

Belleende · 16/11/2014 10:26

Hey longest I had a complete freakout the week before my 8 week scan. I just felt too good. Not tired, not nauseaus, looked great, really didn't think I could be pregnany. Then it all came.crashing in. Feeling vaguely sick all the time, knackered, spotty. I think this coincided with the placenta getting going. For you your change in symptoms could easily be the shift into the glowing months. The placenta should we well established. Hormones arent rising at the same crazy rates so maybe things just feel a bit more normal. Maybe wait a few days to see how it goes and if your are still worried self refer to your epau.

bakingtins · 16/11/2014 13:51

Repeat after me "today I, longest, am pregnant. I have had a good 12 week scan. My placenta is looking after baby so I feel better. At this stage no news is good news"
I can always sneak in a private scan if I really can't wait until 16 weeks
Wink

charlieis30 · 16/11/2014 14:34

thanks tiny and lurker

Justonemoretime · 16/11/2014 14:38

Hood luck, Charlie!!!!
Hang on in there, Longest, I'm sure its all fine. x

Marchgirl · 16/11/2014 14:54

Great news charlie!
Try not to worry longest (I know easier said than done) sounds like everything is on track and 12 weeks is right for symptoms subsiding. I know it's hard but it's time to start enjoying it! You truly deserve a nice, easy rest of pregnancy. And as others have said, you could always either self refer or go for a private scan in a couple of weeks if you're not able to relax. In the meantime remind yourself TIAP

Justonemoretime · 16/11/2014 14:57

good, even!

Boozle80 · 16/11/2014 15:36

Woohoo Charlie. That's awesome news :)

bakingtins · 16/11/2014 15:37

Congratulations charlie crossing everything that this is your rainbow.

Hi ladies, just poking my head round the door to say hello. Glad to hear the good news, and sad to read of newcomers' stories. Been a quiet week here, back to work after D&C sick time. It's not gone too badly, which is a relief.
