milkyway2007 · 11/02/2011 15:35

THanks everyone - I phoned the doctor's surgery, and waiting for a call back. Just shocked because I havent had any discharge since I stopped BFing 2 years ago :/ Don't want this to develop into something else - I hated that pain of engorgement - and this is really rubbing it in my face - having breast milk and no baby to feed :( :(

luckyfor2 · 11/02/2011 17:22

Not been on properly for a while and things move on so fast!
So sorry to Hairylights, its soul destroying and my heart goes out to you, take care of yourself. I don't know anything about amh either, sorry.
milky I've never experienced colostrum after mc but I've heard/read lots of women who have, I hope your GP can put your mind at rest.
MummyA How did your scan go?
iggi I know you've already had lots of advice re asprin but my consultant last Friday told me to take it straight away as it wouldn't do any harm.

We had our appointment with consultant last week and as suspected everything was clear and 3mc just "bad luck"! how can that be. We also found out that our baby was a boy, its taken me some time to come to terms with this as I wasn't expecting to find out even though I'd specifically asked for the information. I really did want to know but finding out has made it feel so real as I never thought I could have a boy having already had two girls. I'm now looking to having every other test done possible. lovemysleep, how complicated is the testing for NK cells, I have spoken to Siobhan Quenby in Birmingham and we can get referred to see her - have you heard of her? I'm abit of a novice re NK cells!

Still waiting for AF - had spotting for last two weeks and nothing. Consultant said it sounds okay but rather anxious.

Also started acupuncture last week and finding it v.relaxing - anyone else find ac helpful?

Fantastic news about LunaticSmile Hooray!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 11/02/2011 17:28

im supose to be 8 weeks 3 days btw x

lovemysleep · 11/02/2011 18:19

lucky they never found anything wrong with me for the standard recurrent mc tests either - they kept saying it's just bad luck, but I was never convinced of that. NK testing is pretty straightforward - just bloods taken, and I think Dr.S does some other sticky blood ones too. Have you read "is your body baby friendly?" by Dr Beer? This was part of my research, and was what got me on to NK cells. As I have asthma, psoriasis and allergies, I seem to have an overactive immune system, so it made sense to me.
Even if you don't have auto-immune conditions, you may still have high NK cells.
I have some of the classic signs of high NK cells - my 1st mc was a blighted ovum, and then 2 of my other mc's, ended within a day of each other, at around 9 weeks.
Statiscally, if you get a heartbeat at around 8 weeks, you have an 85% chance of carrying to term. I believe those 2 babies were fine - my body attacked them, or somehow destroyed the placenta maybe?

luckyfor2 · 11/02/2011 19:19

Hi lovemysleep thank you for your help, I do have the book but its hard to get a grip of. I don't have asthma but I did get a form of psoriasis (guttate) all over my body after having my second child! Two of my three babies had h/b 8wks and 13wks which I just don't understand so I think its worth a visit at least. How are you doing with the drugs?

luckyfor2 · 11/02/2011 19:31

Justme are you booked in for another scan soon? You must be feeling abit confused, not sure how accurate early scans are though.

mumatron · 11/02/2011 19:49

hairy gutted for you :(

justmee · 11/02/2011 19:54

No doctor wasnt bothered to much he said come back march sed everything looked ok but after goggling i feel worse than i did before :(

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 11/02/2011 20:45

Oi justmee you're not meant to be googling!

lovemysleep · 11/02/2011 20:53

lucky sounds like it may be your NK cells, The drugs are fine so far - I was really worried about the steroids, but so far,I don't seem to be having any unpleasant side effects, and the ones that I could be having, could easily be attributed to the pg anyhow. Besides, I start slowly coming off them in just 4 weeks, so it's not a great deal of time to be on them.
Obviously,I am still in the early stages - only 5+2, so I don't know if the treatment will work or not. I feel more reassured than I have in my other pgs', however, so I'm hoping that will be of benefit too. Just the support alone can probably make a difference.
This will probably be my last attempt though - if I do mc for a 5th time, I think I will just have to accept that it wasn't meant to be. We haven't got endless pots of cash to throw at this.

I don't know if you feel the same, but for me, the not knowing what was causing my mc's wwas so frustrating and if I hear another person say "it's just bad luck" I'd have gladly screamed. I don't believe anyone has 4 mc's through bad luck - ir if they do, it's very rare.

I know the book makes heavy reading at times! I've had to plough through it several times before some of it sunk in.

If there's anything else you need to ask, I'll be here to try to help.
Take care x

Coconutfeet · 11/02/2011 21:07

Hairy, I checked the other thread to see whether there was anynews. I'm so sorry.

mummyabroad · 11/02/2011 21:15

Hello, had my scan and it wasnt good news. My endometrium is 5.5mm and it needed to be at least 7 and it didnt have a trilaminar pattern. I have written to Dr March to see what the next step is, but probably wont hear back until Monday. I had just been blindly hoping that everything would be alright, so I am not even sure whether the next stage is drugs/surgery or more waiting. Feel like swearing a lot right now. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFS.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 11/02/2011 21:23

mummy sorry lovely :( Does this mean the AS is reforming some scar tissue? Perhaps you may need a coil back in for a bit longer. I clearly don't know as much as you but have a (((hug))) and I hope you hear from the Dr soon. Is Dr March the one in America? Could you get in touch with the DR in London?

ClaireDeLoon · 11/02/2011 21:26

Hugs for you MummyA

mumatron · 11/02/2011 21:58

mummy sorry it wasn't better news. hopefully it's just a waiting game and it will improve by itself.

Ladybee · 11/02/2011 22:00

Ah, mummya that must be disappointing for you. I hope you get a response back from the Dr soon with some concrete steps to take. I suppose there's no way of knowing whether your lining was getting thicker than that BEFORE the Ashermans?

mummyabroad · 11/02/2011 22:32

hi again

coconuts Its an indicator that something could be wrong, but not proof. It could be scar tissue that got missed, it could be scar tissue that has regrown, or it could be that the basal layer to the endometrium was damaged and the endometrium although scar free will never grow sufficiently thick or it could something else. Confused
Dr March is the one in America. I really wanted to be OK by his standards because although they are the strictest he has the best record of successful post AS pregnancies. My doctor in London didnt ask me to do all these tests, he just said try and TTC and if you are not pregnant in three months come back for more surgery. Hmm

lady I think I had normal lining pre AS because I had normal/heavy periods. Since the op I have had three periods, the first was like pre AS - medium/heavy but I was on hormones then, the second and third have been much lighter than pre AS. It seems that because there is not much lining, there is not much blood.

anyway, will have to wait till monday now. Thanks for the moral support ladies xxx

milkyway2007 · 11/02/2011 22:53

sorry for the news mummyabroad :( xx Hope you hear from the doctor soon

lovemysleep I am reading your posts and completely understand your feelings. 1 mc is bad luck, 2 is bad luck, but 3 or 4 is not bad luck, and I have had so many doctors tell me that, and I stupidly believed them. If I hadnt listened to them the third time, I might have actually got myself tested before trying the fourth time :( They shouldnt be allowed to use the term "luck" - I believe there is always a reason for everything.

justmee Don't google anything! Its the root of all my worries with every pregnancy -
Just relax and enjoy it - I know it's hard, but keep positive xx

lucky Yes, 3 is not bad luck, like I have said before, its a stupid term they use to give women false hope. They should just say, "from the tests WE have done, there is nothing wrong, BUT there could be another reason for the mc which would need further testing"
I am such an idiot for ignoring this after my 3rd mc. I wasted four months, thinking the next time it would work :(

My GP phoned me back and said it was very uncommon for women to leak milk after a miscarriage, so she's told me to get a prolactin blood test done next week. I am so hoping that I have hypothyroidism right now...it would explain why I feel cold all the time, the tiredness and why my weight has increased so dramatically in the last year or so.

Hope everyone else is okay xx

banana87 · 11/02/2011 23:38

Hairy I am so sorry :( Take care of yourself.

Mummy Sorry you're scan wasn't great. Could it be that you need more surgery? I think I read somewhere that often AS requires more than one treatment. Would you consider going to see Dr. March? Is a thin lining an indicator of not being able to get or stay pregnant?

luckyfor2 No recommendation about NK cells. I am also trying to decide what to do re: them and still haven't decided. I posted a thread in pregnancy about it but people have come back saying very unhelpful things like it isn't a likely cause and I might never find a cause :( Fills me with such hope...NOT!

milkyway I had let down feelings after my last mc, but never leaked. If I squeezed colostrum would come out but thats about it. Hope you get to the bottom of whatever is going on.

waves to the rest of you!
