mummy Yes it was very scary. I felt worse than ever yesterday but I think my cyclizine tablets are making me all spaced out and dizzy so I'm trying to manage with just one a day. They didn't say that they would monitor me more regularly but I got the date through for my dating scan. It's on 3rd March so when I had the scan in hospital they worked out I'd only be 9+1 so told me to cancel it and rearrange it for two weeks later but I'm going to "forget" so I get an extra scan Wink

I'm not sure how long it takes to build up after being dehydrated. I'm counting the days until I feel a bit more normal. Yesterday I wasn't sick all day and managed to eat and drink quite a lot and going to try and do the same today. Might go and buy some ketone tests if I can get some from town.

Hello to everyone else I will start to catch up a bit better now.

PrettyVacant1 · 20/02/2011 10:16

Hello Ladies.
Waves to Bazza , Hairy , Jolls, MamaA , Love , Clare, LAF and Didge Grin

Just popping in to say hi and see if my ramblings can help Mattsmama
Aug 2009, after 5 mc between 6-8 weeks, I was invited by Prof. Siobhan Quenby to take part in a randomized control trial with regards to the effect Prednisolone had on (u)Nkcelks/ RCM.

A biopsy was taken from my uterine wall which showed at 9.7 I was nearly double the normal range of 5%.
I then became pregnant in the November and was prescribed either Prednisolone or Placebo.
I was scanned every 2 weeks.

I was informed that should I miscarry on the trial I would be given the active drug in a subsequent pregnancy.
Unfortunately I did, I did make it to 10 weeks though, which was the furthest I'd ever got.
It turned out to be a molar preg which was unlucky to say the least!

After having to wait a while I found out Christmas Day I was indeed diffed, not the best time to have to get hold of 'roids immediately, but on Boxing Day, I managed to persuade an oncall doc from NHS direct to fax me a prescription. Grin

I had been taking 20mg for 11 weeks, 10mg for a week then finally 5 for the last week.
I took my last one this morning. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Side effects have not been too bad in comparison to me finally getting my baby.
Difficulty sleeping, stuffing my face with anything I could get my hands on, temper flare ups with an unfortunate death of a biro and calculator, a bit of weight gain....
Worth it imo.Grin

If you need anything let me know, I'd be happy to try and help, good luck to you all

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 20/02/2011 11:03

Oh and also wanted to let you know that my dates were exact.

I had my ovualtion day as 12th Jan. That was the only day we SWI. And that is the day I conceived. And My dates are bang on. They scanned me Fri when I should have been 7+2 (by my dates) and I was 7+2 Grin So baby is growing perfectly steady.

DH has had an ego boost that he has fertilised my only popped egg on one attempt Hmm Men hey!

mattsmama · 20/02/2011 11:30

Prettyvacant- hello and thank you for your info. I am due to ovulate anytime really so am peeing on sticks like a woman possessed to see when it happens! I have had so many disappointments in the past I just daren't build my hopes up but I am really hoping the steroids do their magic. I am a little bit nervous about taking them but like you say if I can get pregnant and stay pregnant it will be well worth it! It's so reassuring to hear from women in the same boat and their success stories after taking steroids. Lots of luck to you and everyone else and I'll keep you posted!

mattsmama · 20/02/2011 11:40

Mummyabroad - I tried to copy and past but I am useless doing stuff like that (pathetic I know) but basically my "history" is:

Silent MC at 12 weeks 2004. DS who I love to bits born 2006. Silent MC2 in July 2010. 2 Chemical pregnancies in September and November 2010. I am hypothyroid - 100 mcg levothyroxine daily and have early osteopaenia in my hips (probably caused by the thyroxine I have been told). I have just been diagnosed with high thyroid antibodies (597) and high killer cells (1.67) almost certainly the causes of my miscarriages. Its a mircale my DS is here considering. Due to ovulate any day (!!) and start the steroids. Thanks for everyone's help and info - it is VERY MUCH appreciated Smile

mattsmama · 20/02/2011 11:42

ps - I am 41

milkyway2007 · 20/02/2011 12:24

PinkFondantFancy · 20/02/2011 13:33

Hi mattsmama I just wanted to poke my head round the door. The clinic in London that's monitoring my pregnancy ran the full NK assay for me and found that everything came back normal except one of the cells, which was elevated. Apparently this one can cause hyper clotting in the womb so they've put me on 20mg clexane a day (in addition to aspirin which I was taking from the date of the BFP anyway). I'd recommend having a read of "is your body baby friendly" by Dr Alan Beer-it's a bit of a tome but it's written in quite a user friendly way and explains lots about NK cells and how they work. Hope this helps, happy to try and help if you have any other questions.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 20/02/2011 15:54

mummy Yes hopefully a coulpe of days eating and drinking will do me the world of good. DH took Fri and Sat off work so that was a help but he had to go in today so I'm really struggling on my own. Washing to do and DD to look after.

Sorry for being me, me me. Did you hear from your doctor yet?

mummyabroad · 20/02/2011 17:24

coconuts can you just leave the washing for a couple of days, as you say two days eating and drinking will make a big difference. It wouldnt be the end of the world if you didnt do the washing today would it? try and sit/lie down as much as poss. Treat DD to lots of cartoons and choccies!!

still havent heard from Dr March, he is either on holiday or not prepared to answer any more emails for free! I am not too bothered about the thin lining at the moment though - just want a BFP! (9DPO before you ask) If I dont get BFP this month I might consider paying for a phone consult with him. not decided yet though.

milkyway2007 · 20/02/2011 18:12

lol - ordered the same ones you've put the link up for, before checking here Grin - thanks mummy

Milkyway - Thank you for the info, just wish it didnt take so long to get the results! I bled for 2 weeks then tailed off in the third week. Just over 3 weeks now and still see when I go to the loo that I still have signs that all is not completely healed, not blood though. The doc said that as long as i am not bleeding and that it is tailing off then there is nothing to worry about. Wish I could feel the same as I am also terrified of retained products having been through that the last time. I think it is just something that you worry about until AF reappears and things get back to normal. Cannot help you with the positive testing as I have not tried testing at all. xx

Coconutfeet · 20/02/2011 22:27

Milkyway - I had an ERPC on 29th Jan and am still testing quite strongly positive on internet cheapies. I was going to test again towards the end of this week and if it's still positive and not much lighter, I'll go back and find out if anything's left. It's horrible isn't it.

milkyway2007 · 20/02/2011 23:10

confu3ed My bleeding wasn't heavy at all - just light bleeding for 2 days and then just scanty bleeding and (tmi, sorry!) mucousy brown blood since then, and today nothing at all. I passed pretty big clots when I was in hospital, but as soon as I passed the sac, it stopped..pretty worried now Confused

coconutfeet That's crap :( Yes it is horrible. I'm seeing my doctor this Tuesday - might ask for a scan. Knowing the NHS, she'll probably deny me one, but guess there's no harm in asking :(

mattsmama · 20/02/2011 23:15

pinkfondantfancy - hello and thank you. It's funny I have just ordered a copy of Dr Beer's book - can't wait to get my nose into it! Thanks very much x

Hello, I've tried very hard to read as much as I can on this thread. It's a busy one isn't it?!

I did pop in just before Christmas after my last MMC and got some good advice and pointers from some of you lovely people. Thanks for that. I have spent the last couple of months sort of trying to avoid thinking about pregnancy related stuff as much as possible as I needed a break from it all so have been hanging about on the more frivolous threads but now I'm feeling like I need a bit of company from those I can relate to.

I finally got my period last weekend, although it was pretty light and short one, about 8 1/2 weeks after my ERPC. I don't really know what's going on with my hormones as my period is now finished and I have broken out in the most outrageous amount of massive spots. This happened before the period too but now it's even worse. My hormones must be all over the place!

I have an appointment with Dr Shehata in 3 weeks time at Epsom & St Hellier for NK Cell testing. I was reading Iggi's posts which made me want to say, my Dr, who is luckily very helpful, referred me on the NHS to see him. I think you can get a referral but maybe you need to try a different doctor in your practice? Some are more helpful than others it seems. My Dr is very well aware of my struggles and has always told me he would try and help wherever he can. I don't know what the NHS route means in terms of gaps between appointments, length of time to get test results back etc. though. I have tried to find out on here and on Fertilityfriends.co.uk if other's have experience of seeing him on the NHS but it does seem most people see him privately, or combine NHS and private treatment. I will let you know how it pans out anyway. All my tests at the RMC at UCH came back clear. The hematologist that I saw did say "no, it's not bad luck. 2 m/c's is bad luck, at a push. Any more than that, well, there is a reason, but I'm afraid we don't know what it is." Which was refreshing to not be written off, once more, as "just bad luck". But at the same time, bloody frustrating as it was the kindest possible way of telling us "We've done what we can. You're on your own now to continue playing the lottery. Have as many goes as you can bear to put yourself through and you may get lucky."

I just got a text an hour ago from a very good friend telling me that her baby was born at the weekend. Lovely news, of course. But last time I saw her, along with our other close friend (there are 3 of us and we have been friends for 20ish years) all 3 of us were pregnant, so the news has put me in a bit of a reflective and sad mood.

The emotions I'm feeling are all very confusing though as a comment on here really rang true with me at the moment (I'm so sorry, I can't remember who's post it was now, having just skim read the whole thread). Something to do with not thinking about babies, just trying to biologically achieve a successful pregnancy. It's a strange way to be feeling and has thrown me somewhat over the last few weeks. I suppose it's a sort of defense mechanism having lost 6 pregnancies.

Sorry for such an all over the place second post. I think I am a bit all over the place at the moment! Just feeling like everything is out of my control.

milkyway2007 · 21/02/2011 19:21

Thanks for the encouragement lunatic your story has given me alot of hope xx

Havingkittens That may have been me who made the comment about achieving a successful pregnancy and not thinking about babies - because that is exactly how I feel. I just want to prove that my body is capable now. I understand what you mean when you say everything is out of your control - I just feel so helpless, and although desperate for a baby, dread the next pregnancy.
Hope you are okay and can finally have an answer to all your problems xx

Went and bought myself a whole shelf of vitamins today - thought I would try folic acid on it's own rather than in the pregnacare pill. Don't know if they will do anything in regards to a successful pregnancy but even getting extra energy to do things would be a good thing for me, as I am constantly fatigued.

Hope everyone else is okay xx

Hi all,

Sorry I've not been around much - like Julez, have been dealing with colicky baby and not sleeping properly because he'd only settle lying on me.

Problem solved literally overnight thanks to Colief drops - Julez, if you're reading this and by some chance haven't tried them yet, they're WELL worth the enormous cost and apparently you can beg them on prescription.

Once colic calmed down a bit Finn got his first cold so back to no sleep, but think he's past the worst now.

Have no hope at all of catching up with personals after a week - this thread's so busy! - so will try to keep up from now on.

Hi Havingkittens, sorry you're feeling low. When I have really bad days I always just acknowledge that (ie "this is a low") somehow it help me remember that it does pass and tomorrow might be (a wee bit) better. Thanks for the mention about Dr Shehata, I think if the obstetrician doesn't mention further referrals (assuming she ever calls me back in to go over test results!) then I will head back to the GP.
Idiotic question from me for someone on aspirin - when you say take from BFP, does it make any difference when you have tested?(ie, can you take it from a few days before AF would have been due, or should it be AF day exactly?)
