Hi Bubbaloo and Pinotmum
I come under Barking and Dagenham, but I have a friend who lives off Havering Gardens and is in Redbridge, yet she goes to see the doctor and the health visitor at Annie Prendergast, she has to take her DD to Seven Kings for her injections though, it is all very confusing really.

bubbaloo · 21/05/2005 12:16

thats funny-i also live off havering gardens.bet she lives down my road
oh well...im sure i'll find out sooner or later where i need to go!

lukesmama · 21/05/2005 12:42

Hi Bubbaloo
It would defenitely be worth asking at Annie Prendergast especially as it is much closer for you, hopefully they would be understanding and let you go there, surely if you go to the doctors there it shouldn't matter.Have you got your bag packed for the hospital and everything all set up for bubba? Will ask my friend what she did in order to see the HV there and let you know?

bubbaloo · 21/05/2005 13:36

oh that would be great,ta.

yes ive everything packed-looks like im going away for a fortnight, with 2 suitcases and a bag of snacks.baby also has everything now(i think!)including more clothes than me!
just playing the waiting game now.worst bit is the not knowing when its going to happen

horseshoe · 24/05/2005 12:41

Hi all,

Thought I'd add my 2ps worth

i live in Dagenham and have DD of 2 years. Also expecting second but early days yet so keeping fingers crossed.

bubbaloo · 24/05/2005 14:20

hi horseshoe,
nice to see another local mum.
congratulations on the pregnancy-how far along are you?
i've only got a couple of weeks left to go!

Pinotmum · 25/05/2005 20:40

Hi Horseshoe, nice to "meet you". Bubbaloo, are you putting your feet and resting? If not you should be

bubbaloo · 25/05/2005 21:06

hi pinotmum,
ive spent the afternoon asleep and the rest of the time drinking raspberry leaf tea.
nice to hear from you.

Flossam · 25/05/2005 21:09

Ohh, Horseshoe, I have to ask, what's the swimming pool like in Dagenham? The one in Barking is rather lacking and no real baby facilities. My DP is a bit of a miserable git and dosen't ever want to go, do you think I could take my six month old swimming there alone?

loulabelle222 · 26/05/2005 08:44

my dp never wants to go either! The best one i have taken him to is barkingside. i havent been to dagenham but i think its ok.

Hi Loulabelle

Well just got back from Goresbrook pool and DS loved it, the pool is very warm, not so good for a day like today though.DS is 18 months he loved the splash pool and also been in the big pool, there is a slide which is small and which i wanted to take him on but it wasn't open. There were people with younger babies there, I thought it was great and will be going again for sure.

HappyDaddy · 27/05/2005 14:05

Hi all. It's good to hear people from my old manor, I was born and bred in Hainault so know Ilford and Romford really well. I'm in Kent now.
King George's has always been pretty poor but what can you do?

bubbaloo · 27/05/2005 14:50

hi happydaddy.

glad you enjoyed goresbrook,lukesmama.
i havent actually been there myself but do intend on taking the baby swimming when ive lost a bit(or alot!)of weight.will probably go to fullwell cross though

Flossam · 27/05/2005 19:15

Sorry, thanks HD for reminding me I had something to add about KG's. Its absolutely shocking. I didn't give birth to DS there (work for another trust with an excellent reputation and its one of the perks!) but he developed jaundice and we went there. It was terrible, and I complained. A friend gave birth there, asked when she should push before they checked her, they told her whenever she wanted, guess what? She ended up with a torn cervix among other things. I wouldn't go back there for the world.

bubbaloo · 27/05/2005 20:17

oh my god!!

i am sooooooo pleased im not going there to have the baby

Flossam · 27/05/2005 20:55

You are luckier than you realise IMO.

loulabelle222 · 27/05/2005 22:56

my friend gave birth 3 months after me and the restitched her 3 times because they didn't do it 'right' my baby after i gave birthd was wrapped in a dirty towel. I will never ever go back there to have a baby i felt like it was all too much trouble.

OP posts:
Flossam · 27/05/2005 22:59

thats exactly how i felt. They screamed at me like I was the worst mother in the world for walking to the desk to get a teat for my EBM with DS in a nappy! Literally like I was bouncing him up and down on the floor. Thought I must be an awful mother, then found out same thing happened to friend! Sounds like ritual humiliation to me. Not what any new nervous mother needs. Everytime I went to the desk they made everything seem like too much trouble, if they managed to look up from their paperwork/magazines that is. Something needs to give at that place IMO.

loulabelle222 · 27/05/2005 23:40

my friend was 18 when had ds and they asked her to write out a feeding chart for the day to make sure that she fed her properly. How degrading? Just because people are young doesn't mean they have to treat people any different. TBH it completly destroyed me after giving birth as they made me feel like shit! they were so horrible !
