How did it go?

ghosty · 01/10/2008 00:39

Oh Arfishy. It was shit. I have never had a worse time in my life. They're awful. The whole lot of 'em. I really wish I had stayed in to watch Eastenders with DH.

Noooo. You tease. SPILL!!!

I want photos! What was the food like. How late did you stay. Did you get thrown out at closing time like we did ?

Did Calif make it? Did you get hold of MrsJC?

ClaudiaSchiffer · 01/10/2008 01:03

Did Califrau make it?

ClaudiaSchiffer · 01/10/2008 01:06

oo sorry arfishy x post - after the same info

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 01:30
  • also hoping to know whether or not Cali managed to escape her EMIL and make your meet up - I do hope so!

Can I hijack quickly please? Am flying to Australia in 2 weeks time with 10mo baby and am trying to find out from all available sources what food they will let me take on the plane? I want to bring sachets of semi-liquid gunk, which I am perfectly willing to taste to prove it's technically edible, but the sachets aren't seethrough (these) - anyone got any experience they can share? Ta

dooneygirl · 01/10/2008 01:34

I'm sitting here waiting to see if Cali made it, too.

arfishy · 01/10/2008 01:40

Right. I'm going to hunt down ghosty.

TW - which airline and which airport are you flying out of?

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 01:42

BA and Heathrow, arfishy.

superloopy · 01/10/2008 01:52

It was a great night...

arfishy · 01/10/2008 01:57

TW - are the pouches over 100ml? If so you won't be able to take them in hand luggage. You will be able to buy them after security though.

Which terminal are you flying out of? Is it T5 for BA flights now? Check if they have a boots after security.

If they are over 100ml decant them into something 100ml.

All liquids have to go in a clear bag and be in containers of less than 100ml - I had the same rules flying out to the UK last year.

Ghosty is nowhere to be seen. If she's anything like I was after the Sydney meet she'll be having a fry-up, alka-seltzer and rehydralyte and looking a bit peaky.

arfishy · 01/10/2008 01:58

Aaargh. xposted.

Superloopy come baaaaaack.

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 02:01

ta arfishy - tis a shame, as the pouches have nice screw tops and are easy to dispense onto a spoon, which they won't at all be once decanted into a clear plastic bag .
Still, better than being blown up by a terrorist I suppose...
not sure which terminal, probaby T5 though.

As if that wasn't enough to worry about, i've got to work out how I can get a loaded syringe of heparin onto the plane as well as should take another shot in Bangkok - that's going to be so much more entertaining than the baby food!!

superloopy · 01/10/2008 02:08

Ok... We had a lovely night out. Sadly Califrau was unable to escape the clutches of her wicked EMIL and sadly didn't join us.
The lovely MrsJC, Ghosty, wilbs, DCsnatch..., tangox3 and livingina dream... all made it.

We had a lovely meal, saw some of the worlds biggest pizzas (ate them too), had a few drinks and chatted for hours!

Thing did kick off but once the police arrived....

dooneygirl · 01/10/2008 02:12

Thanks, SL. Glad you all had a good time, but am very sad Cali couldn't make it.

arfishy · 01/10/2008 02:14

You can decant into a little screw top jar or something as long as it's 100ml - these then have to go in the bag along with things like hand gel/toothpaste etc.

Syringes I think need a doctors letter.

I'm doing the same flight but in reverse in 2 months

arfishy · 01/10/2008 02:17

Glad you all had a good time! Shame about Calif.

Any photos? MORE GOSSIP required.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 01/10/2008 03:15

Ah, so glad you all had fun. Shame about Califrau. Blardy EMIL.

Thumwitch, I flew back to Oz with those baby food pouches. The security laydee at H'row made me get them all out of my bag - should have packed them separately apparently and open one of each sort (babyfood in a jar and those squidgy pouches) and taste them in front of her. OO the temptation to pretend to clutch my throat and keel over was immense but I managed to be sensible and we were allowed to take them through. But do check they have a Boots as would be awful if rules have changed.

eidsvold · 01/10/2008 05:00

right you lot - have started a thread in the living overseas topic - please come and spill all on there

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 12:18

thanks arf and CS!
