I have a better idea - why don't we all go to the whitsunday islands or you could all come to fabulous Brisbane

ViolentFemme · 16/09/2008 05:16

Oh I love the idea of Margaret River, or the Barossa Valley.

Or the Hunter Valley?

Or Clare Valley?

I will put you on the list - if you have any ideas on where to go for dinner that's great too. We thought Fed Square as that is kind of easy for transport for everyone so I will look more closely into what is around there ...

Now, I've been having a think about where to go and eat. Has anyone got any preferences? I thought maybe we could go to South Bank for dinner loads to choose from here to suit all tastes and budgets. For example, 'Cervo' on that list looks great, with mains between $19 and $30. Or 'Tutto Bene' looks fab (it is a 'risottoria' which is different) also with a good range of prices ($15 - $30 for a main course).
Those are just two examples of Italian restaurants but there are all sorts on that list.
What do you lot fancy?
Are my examples too pricey? [worried]
Although it is a Tuesday I think it would be good to book ...

This looks nice too - Bokchoy Tan, Chines restaurant on Fed Square

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:10

Another Italian place, looks good, a bit cheaper too

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:12

I had lunch here once ... with the kids ... bit pricey for kids I felt but I remember it was yummy

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:14

Actually, that last one has a bad review so maybe not.

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:22

Or we could go Native and eat Kangaroo and Emu but v expensive and not sure I am brave enough

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:24

Cafe on Fed Square which looks nice and has a reasonably priced menu

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:26

All the above (and Southbank) within a 5/10 minute walk from Flinders Street Station.

This has been recommended to me too - Tapas Bar, MoVida but can't work out if it is pricey or not ... you need to order a lot of tapas to fill up don't you??

OP posts:
ghosty · 22/09/2008 09:27

I've got RSI from making links
I'll stop now

MrsJohnCusack · 22/09/2008 12:26

Ghosty
I don't really care about cost (ooooh get me) cos I am on holiday
I like anywhere that has veggie stuff (so clearly the kangaroo and emu will be a bit wasted on me!) so italian, tapas, chinese all fine by me

so that wasn't much help was it!

DCsnatchsunhill · 22/09/2008 22:13

Ghosty, anything is fine by me. We're not exactly rolling in it at the moment, but an Italian / chinese / tapas sounds fab to me also!
There you go, am easily pleased.

DCsnatchsunhill · 22/09/2008 22:14

BTW, forgot to say that 15 - 30 bucks for a main sounds very reasonable for the City! I will have a look through the linkages whilst at work later

MelbourneMum · 23/09/2008 08:00

oohhh me me, couldn't find the thread!! having been searching for bloody hours in 'Living Overseas'!

Wilbs train in taxi back with you ok?
