Ghosty whatever you think re venue, I trust you .
Le Camera on Sth Bank is good, I've been there several times and its got a good range plus great outside/under cover area upstairs looking straight out over the river. if the weather was nice its a great option. check it out?

SEe you Monday anyway. xxx

Have only just seen this thread and am honoured to have been singled out as a bad influence.

I would definitely be up for a National Congress. How about Alice Springs? I have always meant to see Uluru but never got round to it.

Also tickled by the "stranger danger" warning at the top of the page. I skipped off to the Sydney meet-up singing over my shoulder to DH "right, darling, I am off to get wankered with some people from Mumsnet. Brightongirldownunder lives down the road so we will probably share a taxi home. No idea what time. See ya!"

ghosty · 24/09/2008 01:54

Ha ha @ 9dragons ...
I have often had a similar conversations with DH ...
DH: So, who are you meeting?
Me: Well, I can't remember her real name but she is Superloopy on Mumsnet.
DH: Superloopy? So you are disappearing off with our daughter to meet someone who calls herself Superloopy? And this is, um, OK is it?
Me: Yeah, it's fine.
DH: What does she look like?
Me: Um ...
DH: Where does 'she' live?
Me: Errrr ...

etc etc

And then there was the time I was on a visit to England and I drove down to see, and stay the night with, Jimjams ... my Dad made me ring him when I got there but before I rang the doorbell and then again once I was through the front door after meeting Jimjams and then just before I went to bed and when I set off again in the morning .... he was worried she was a brother keeper or involved in the white slave trade

MrsJohnCusack · 24/09/2008 02:57

ah my parents are too too naive
they just let me skip out of the door on my own one evening to be picked up by twentypence - who I had never met before - in a car. bless 'em

this is a big old meetup! v.excited

ghosty · 24/09/2008 03:00

WTF is a 'brother keeper'?
I meant a 'brothel keeper'! Sounds just as dodgy though ... I wonder if Jimjams does have any brothers hidden in her attic ...

livinginadreamworld · 24/09/2008 06:53

how the hell did i manage to post that twice.... and does it even make sense!!!
my time so far in melbourne has been rather lonely... ie i havnt been out or met anyone apart from through work.... which is in childcare centres, nannying in Aus hasnt quite worked out for me!! and though i want to go out, i am rather anxious to meet people now as it has been 4 months of just me!!!

ghosty · 24/09/2008 06:55

Bless you, livinginadreamworld ...
Do you want to email me off Mumsnet and then we can exchange phone numbers - or give you mine if you don't want to give my yours - so we can chat before meeting ...
I promise we are totally totally totally lovely and normal people

my email address is ghostyandmeg1(at)bigpond(dot)com ...

  • replace what's in the brackets with the relevant symbols. I don't like to post my email addy online, too many dodgy people about

Hey livinginadreamworld I echo what ghosty says - we are all very friendly and nice!

I do know exactly how you are feeling as I used to be a nanny too. When I moved to London I was a big billy-no-mates for months. You seem to only meet other Mums or Nannys who have lives outsided working hours. It is tough.... soooooo you should definately come out and meet us all! Yay!!
I live way out in west Melb suburbs, if that is near you I am happy to meet up beforehand if that would be less stressful for you. You can get in touch with me at [email protected] if you want to!

livinginadreamworld · 24/09/2008 08:54

thank u superloopy, feeling a bit more confident now!

Ghosty, i will give you a call tomorrow, friday could be good, as i finish work early at 2.30.

superloopy · 24/09/2008 13:21

Good to hear.

I will see you next week then!!

Looking forward to meeting you!

MrsJohnCusack · 27/09/2008 10:15

any decisions yet?
ghosty I will email you my mobile number and maybe you could text me where to go

although I have checked out the price of wireless in my hotel and so am probably going to take my laptop with me. A bit sad really

ghosty · 27/09/2008 23:48

Ok, no final decisions yet but I thought we would aim to meet at 7 at Beer Deluxe in Fed Square for a drink (or 3 ) and then go to eat somewhere at 8pm? What do you think?
I will book a table somewhere walkable ...
MrsJC ... my email address is ghostyandmeg1(at)bigpond(dot)com - I could come by your boooteeeeque hotel and pick you up?
I met with livinginadreamworld on Friday afternoon - she's lovely and promises to come now she has seen I am not a hairy trucker after all ...

Fab plans ghosty, well done!! See you at the pub!

Yay yay yay yay!

ghosty · 29/09/2008 05:59

Ok.

Table is booked for 9 people (ever hopeful that Cali will turn up ) at Le Camera on Southbank at 8pm.
Meet at Beer Deluxe at 7pm for drinks and then we will wander over the bridge at 7.45pm.

MrsJC, I will get the train in so you need to let me know where your booooteeeek hotail is so I can get off at the appropriate stop and hop on a tram (I am sure you said it was in the Flinders vacinity). I will aim to get to you at around 6.45pm and will personally hescort you to the pub
let me know your contact details asap.

As this is a State Visit we have a schedule and including scheduled toilet stops (like the queen has innit?)
