Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

CROYDON (and surrounding areas) It's nearly summer. Shall we meet up in a park? All welcome.

What do you think? Suggestions please..

When we last met we said a park would be better.

As in the title all welcome

Hiya, I'd love to meet up (we live in Sutton)but can't do 2pm because my eldest dd needs collecting from school at 3.30pm but I'll watch this thread and hopefully meet up with some of you in the summer holidays

peachygirl · 29/06/2008 20:46

Hi all, Carshalton Ponds is the one off the High Street and North Street, not the one off Ruskin Road.

Sadly, I have the same problem as Pootle, so won't be able to make it this time either (somehow I had got it into my head it would be a 12pm meet - no idea why).

Everyone who wanted to talk slings, do look at this link:

summerslingshow.co.uk

Hopefully, we'll meet in the holidays, or at the slingshow!

turtle23 · 30/06/2008 00:15

OK I'M PANICKING SO GOING TO TAKE DECISIVE ACTION !!!!!

I'm going to set a new date. Friday 25th July 12pm at Park Hill park in Croydon.

This is in the centre of Croydon. Close to East Croydon station, not far from the Fairfield Halls and all the shops for buying a sandwich.

That date is the first Friday of the holidays so hopefully lots of people can come along.

Hi all,

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Sorry to read that the meet up has been postponed again. It's worked out quite well for me though as I wouldn't have been able to make it today either as my 11yr old is home from school with an upset tummy (We had a bbq yesterday so I'm hoping we haven't "poisoned" anyone else ). Hopefully I'll be able to make it on the 25th july.

peachygirl · 30/06/2008 20:52

Great thanks for being so nice. I'll try to keep the thread bumped

Hi Peachy,

Sorry, we do seem to have made your life a pain.

We will, sadly, be away for the 25th but back in time to abandon the mountain of dirty washing and splurge at the sling show !

Let's make Croydon/Sutton a sling zone!

Have a good time on the 25th and perhaps we could have another meet-up later in the holidays (they are rather long after all).

Still vote for Coombe Wood for a second meet - the cakes are delicious.

Firewalker · 01/07/2008 10:32

I can't do 25th July either as I work - although having said that, if you meet around lunch time in Park Hill, I work near there so could pop in and say hello. I shall be without DD who will be at nursery so could always hold a baby for a while if needed!!

Mymblemummy - I agree with you. The cakes are good and Coombe Wood is nice and shady. Perfect on a hot day like today.

peachygirl · 02/07/2008 19:37

Not to worry those who can't make it I did have the end of Aug in mind to meet agin.. that is if we all like the look of each other!

Hi all,

DropDeadFred (She and her daughter came along to the last Croydon meet-up) and I are meeting up at The Arc at Caterham on the Hill tomorrow at 12.30. If any of you are free and fancy coming along it would be lovely to see you.

If you're on the 407 bus route then you get off at the last stop which is Caterham Valley and then get the blue Village bus from outside the Post Office (Opposite Waitrose) which stops right outside The Arc.

The Arc.

splishsplosh · 04/07/2008 09:14

Hi Amandoh, I might pop along. We're going to a picnic in the park in Purley from a playgroup we go to, so depends if I can drag dd away from that - how long does it take to get there? How often does the village bus run?

Amandoh · 04/07/2008 10:08

Hi Splish Splosh

407 from Purley to Caterham Valley is about 10 - 15 mins depending on the traffic. Village bus runs every 30 mins but there are other buses from the same bus stop that run up to Caterham on the Hill but they don't drop you right outside the Arc. The Arc is the last stop for the Village bus and it takes about 10 mins from Caterham Valley. Other buses stop outside Tesco and the Arc is about a 3 min walk from there. Not hard to find.

You could jump on the train from Purley to Caterham which would probably be much quicker than the bus but again you'd have to get a bus up the hill.

It'd be great to see you again if you can make it.

splishsplosh · 04/07/2008 10:13

I will try! I hope I recognise you if I make it. I'm wearing a long brown sun top with embroidery at the top & jeans. dd has red trousers on. It would be lovely to meet you both again

Dropdeadfred · 07/07/2008 14:49

Nice to see you both!! Will have to do that again!

Amandoh · 07/07/2008 18:22

Yes, would be great to make it a regular thing. Soft play centres are great because the children can't "escape" and are weatherproof which is brilliant when it's like it is today.

Perhaps we could try Kidscape next time?

splishsplosh · 07/07/2008 21:12

It would be good to meet again - i'm not sure I'd go to Kidspace during the school holidays though, as it's a bit hectic when all the older kids are careering around as well. I get even less rest there than I did at the Arc. Dd said she loved your dd, DDF

WARNING! The link that follows leads to the Daily Mail website.

Just a thought regarding the 25th July meet...

If this article is to be believed then perhaps we ought to think about meeting somewhere undercover then move on to a park if it's dry.
