anyone out there in the very South West?

OP posts:
JaysMum · 10/01/2005 23:51

Dont think there are many of us SW mums about....

I don't venture very far from the realms of the special needs thread here....but hey this could be the start of something new!!!

I'm situated on the North coast....not far from Surfers Paradise....otherwise known as Croyde!!

Whereabouts are you?

joash · 11/01/2005 00:08

Not in Cornwall yet, but will be by August - so I'll be up for the next one .

oooggs · 11/01/2005 07:57

I'm in Saltash so right on the border, with DH & DS (13mths today) with car so can travel.

GRMUM · 11/01/2005 08:10

Oh Jaysmum you lucky thing! I was camping in Croyde this summerwith a friend and her surfing- mad boys, and loved it especially that house at the far end of the village on the cliffs!Having lived much of my life in the south west it was my first ever visit to N.Devon. If I ever come back to the UK I'd love to live around there.

wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 08:10

oooggs - I'm in Falmouth and I'd be willing to bet you won't find anyone else this far south west!!!

oooggs · 11/01/2005 08:12

Hi WK - I'm sure I won't. But are you up for a get together?

Especially if we can drum up a bit more interest.

OP posts:
wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 08:12

I'm definitely up for a meet-up, i miss all of them!!!

wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 08:18

I'm happy travelling anywhere I can get to by train

oooggs · 11/01/2005 08:23

No problem - it would be great to meet your DD. We'll give it a bit to see if anyone else comes forward to admit living 'down 'er'. And if not arrange something on our sad lonely own. I have read recently someone is in Helston.

OP posts:
wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 08:25

Awww thanks . God, Helston? Can't believe someone is further down than me!!! Not so long ago I used to be the only one on here south of Plymouth!!!

bee3 · 11/01/2005 08:52

I'm in Helston, though I haven't mentioned it before, so I'd love to know who the other mum was?!
Ds 11 months, but doesn't cope well with long car journeys, so I'll watch this and see what is organised. I'm new to area, and would love to meet up if anyone is nearby. Had thought I was only lonely on the Lizard!

JaysMum · 11/01/2005 08:55

GRMum....That house just sold for 1.4 million!!!!
Whereabouts did you camp?
Surfin is in the blood of all the men in my house, so I'm a real shore widow and have to spend many mornings getting up at 5 in the summer so the guys can go for a paddle before school!!!!

GRMUM · 11/01/2005 09:01

I'll tell my brother that jaysmum as after i had visited Croyde I found out that my brother goes there a lot too and has his eye on that house! (bit out of his league at that price though!) We camped at a camp site close to the natioal trust car park, it was a small camp and did not allow kids or single sex groups to camp there. You are very lucky - I love the idea of getting up early to go paddling before school.

JaysMum · 11/01/2005 09:30

I know the one...it's owned by one of my hubbies surfie buddies.

oooggs · 11/01/2005 14:40

The other Helston Mum is Laura032004. Not sure who she is though.

I've got a friend in Truro who I am trying to persuade to join and I'm coming to Falmouth in February for a few days. I'll try to get my friend to join up - she had her first baby on dec 23rd......

wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 19:59

bh - if you fancy a coffe while you're in Falmouth let me know.

Have we got any ideas of dates/places???

oooggs · 11/01/2005 20:06

Well it looks like there may have to be two meet ups. As bottom of Cornwall to North Devon is a very long way.

What days of the week are best for you? Are you working at the moment? I'm not until 9th Feb then part time and DH works shifts. I don't mind coming down and if we work something out maybe Bee3 will join us.

Bee3 - how far can/will DS travel? Do you have any ideas?

Beachyhead - when are you down? Would you like to join us?

Sorry lots of questions

OP posts:
wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 20:14

I'm not working atm but will be from sometime at the start of Feb, but could always get time off, see what hours I'm doing etc etc. I'm happy to travel up a bit as long as its somewhere where trains go!!!

oooggs · 11/01/2005 20:20

I'm not even sure how to start organising this????????? How about next Thurs 20 Jan say Truro? Too early? Too far? Does Truro have a train station ? Don't suppose I can pick you up from the station cos I won't have a car seat for your DD.

Help me!!!!!

What do you suggest?

OP posts:
bee3 · 11/01/2005 20:25

I could certainly make Truro, not that far at all , or Falmouth (would be breaking new territory for me). Have only been into Truro a couple of times since moving so can't suggest anywhere to meet. Is there a baby friendly cafe that anyone knows?

I'm SAHM at the moment, so dates usually not a problem.

Oooggs, you're doing brilliantly.

wobblystarryknicks · 11/01/2005 20:38

Truro has a train station and its right next to town so no problem with me walking in at all. Not sure about baby-friendly places, usually hide in Thorntons cafe as its opposite Mothercare and I can drool at the choccies but it's usually busy and cramped. Will have a think about caffs etc, there is a Sainsburys just on the edge of town, and a Tesco in the town, and a huge M&S with a big cafe if we can't find anywhere else. Next Thur would be totally fine for me.

bee3 · 11/01/2005 20:42

This is beginning to sound like a meet-up! We just need a venue.... Any more ideas?

oooggs · 11/01/2005 20:43

It's a date

I will see WK & Bee next thurs 20 Jan in Truro. WK what time will your train get in? Bee if you are driving can you make it for WK's train time and if you are taking the train can you and WK co-ordinate?

Blimy I am glad it's only three of us - when there is loads it must get really complicated .
