Hi, is there anyone from the Corby area of Northants? I saw a Northants topic but everyone was from Wellingborough, so I was wondering if there was anyone closer?

just looked at the calender got doctors mid afternoon.

KatyLiz · 20/04/2008 08:15

That a pain Shelley. If you want to come to Corby then Samie there's a park near the town called west glebe, or if the weather is bad we can always go to Cheeky Monkees (you'd get in free as Logan is so little!)I have been to Pen Green once, the beach bit is great, but I usually go to groups etc at Kingswood as it's a lot nearer me.

Is there actually swings etc as west glebe? Never was when i ,lived in corby was more woods and the bmx tracks..

KatyLiz · 20/04/2008 15:54

yeah, it's a little kids park there, for my kids age its got more suitable little bits than anywhere I've seen since moving up here! swing, mini slide, little climbing frame, see saw, those wobbly things etc. only bad thing is that its by the side of a road, but its enclosed.

O well, learn something new everyday. How are you all. Hows your dh getting on with his new job?

KatyLiz · 20/04/2008 20:11

we're fine. drove the hour down to the mother-in-laws today to give her birthday present to her, and realised when we were in sight of her house that we'd left the present and cards in the living room!! whoops!
new job has turned out to be not that great. agency told him it would officially be permanent after 2 weeks as long as he did well. The boss spoke to him Friday and said the job is only there for 2 weeks because it is an account manager he needs not admin! so back to looking for something else. He won't be bothering with that agency again!
How are you and Josh? Did you have a good time with your friend?

OP posts:
shelleylou · 20/04/2008 20:16

Opps thats not so good. The agency could have wrote it down wrong but at least its 2 weeks work for him to keep the money coming in.
We are fine thanks. We had a great time josh loves going over and playing with her ds's. Shes also invited us on holiday with them so I'm looking forward to that wouldnt have been able to go on one otherwise.

KatyLiz · 20/04/2008 20:37

That's lovely! Where are you going on holiday? Is she a single mum too?

OP posts:
shelleylou · 20/04/2008 21:40

Yes i cant thank her enough she'll probably get fed up of it. Weare going Near great yarmouth. Yes shes a single mum too.

KatyLiz · 20/04/2008 22:03

i had all my holidays around that area when I was younger! I bet you're looking forward to it! Are you going soon?

OP posts:
shelleylou · 20/04/2008 22:23

Were going in the first few weeks in august, sent of a booking enquiry so just seeing what week we can go. Have to get a big caravan as there'll be 6 of us. Yeah i am looking forward to it

KatyLiz · 21/04/2008 08:48

That's great. Hopefully the weather should be good for you in August! We can't afford a holiday this year unless we go to my mum's cottage in Yorkshire, but I don't want to go there. The kids would be really bored, lol!
I'm going to start trying to save £50 a month so we can go somewhere next year.

OP posts:
shelleylou · 21/04/2008 08:58

I hope the weathers good aswell. I wqouldnt have been able to have afforded to go on hi#oliday myself but this way i can. As cost of caravan will be split so its a lot more affordable.

samiestresure · 21/04/2008 14:22

OP posts:
samiestresure · 21/04/2008 22:08

shelley have u heard from joshs dad this week?

shelleylou · 21/04/2008 22:25

I heard from him wednesday but i think i told you that. Havent heard from him since. I might be able to do friday have to see how plasters dried in joshs room as mum might be having him so i can redecorate that 1 wall.

KatyLiz · 22/04/2008 08:22

yeah, 2pm will be fine on Friday. We'll have to try and all get together properly next week rather than separate meets!!

OP posts:
samiestresure · 22/04/2008 16:10

yeah that would b good to all get together but its just everyone finding the time and money isnt it. so i will c u katy at 2 on friday at west glebe and if u can make it on friday shelley that would be great

shelleylou · 22/04/2008 17:03

Ill see what i can sort uot and let you know. Been working out what money i can put aside this week. Trying to cut down on things which will help me out in the long run.

KatyLiz · 22/04/2008 17:57

That's what I've been trying to do. I worked out we'd save £120 a month if we cut out take aways. I couldn't believe we spend that much as I've never added it up before. What a waste!
I'm free nearly all of next week, so it should be quite easy for me to get to Kettering any time, so maybe we can manage all meeting together then.

OP posts:
shelleylou · 22/04/2008 18:10

I dont really have take aways thats only really if im out on a saturday night have one on the way home. Its hard to work out as i buy value/basic brands anyway. Refuse tyo pay for the brandname if its no good. Just trying to cut down a bit on gas and electric. Im putting it to one side before i have chance to spend it unnecessarily ie on crap.

KatyLiz · 24/04/2008 09:18

It's quiet on here! Our internets been playing up.
Food is always my one huge waste of money. I can't eat value brands, hubby calls me a fussy food snob, lol. I'm better than I used to be though, before we were poor I'd spend at least £100 a week on our main food shop.
Are you still ok for tomorrow Samie? Thought I'd better say I can only stay for an hour with meeting up at 2, as I'll have to leave by 3 to pick Lucy up. If its not worth your while coming for an hour thats ok.
