Sleep is for the Weak Reunited

As we're officially not the weakest of other posters on the sleep boards anymore, it's time to move on. So, here is the new home for those of us that have been on SIFTW so long we can't bear to leave and who finally, can think about other stuff to talk about.

So my SIFTW sisters, this is where the kettle is always on and we can talk freely about sleep, no sleep or anything that takes our fancy.

OK so just did the calendar thingy - at a guess I'm due end Dec, so could be a Xmas baby yet!

MegBusset · 25/04/2008 20:55

Hi all, just checking in

I've been at work for two days, which has been both nice and weird. DH struggled to get DS down for his nap today and I felt momentarily guilty for not being there... before I returned to my lovely Thai lunch that I was enjoying with a colleague

We're off to stay in a caravan on the south coast next week, hoping the weather holds for us, and also that the fuel strike doesn't cause too many problems, otherwise we might get stranded!

gingerninja · 27/04/2008 09:37

Meg, that sounds lovely (the holiday). Hope work went ok. We're off to centre parks the week after next and I'm so excited I can't tell you. Didn't think I'd ever get so excited about going to a holiday park but we really really need a break so lets hope the weather and everything holds out for all of us.

We've had a lovely sunny weekend so far and DD has been getting knee deep in dirt helping me dig the veg plot and helping DH out in the shed drilling stuff!

Hope you're all well.

I am insanely excited about our week booked on the Isle of Wight this August. I reallly hope we have a nice summer. Last years holiday in Devon was miserable (for me not anyone else!) DS2 was only 6 weeks old and it rained alot.

So have a lovely time and hopefully a rest Meg and Ginger. You both deserve it.

MegBusset · 03/05/2008 21:53

Quiet around here, hope everyone is having a nice weekend

Our caravanning trip was fab, DS loved it, even slept well in his travel cot (apart from one 5am waking). We went to the zoo, made sandcastles, the lot. Were very grateful not to be camping, though, as it chucked it down most nights -- the family pitched in a tent next to us ended up fleeing to a hotel one night!

PerkinWarbeck · 06/05/2008 13:20

EP ! Congratulations! So pleased for you.

Glad you had a lovely break, Meg. I guess Ginger is away right now - looks like you've picked a good week.

We're off to Gower in Wales at the end of the month - first holiday with DD. We're staying on a farm, as DD is animal crazy.

Hope Amber, Tibsy and CM are well .

WE have just started thinking about relocation back up north (re-relocating?). DH has just put in an application for a transfer, so we shall see what happens.....excited though.

EffiePerine · 06/05/2008 13:23

Good luck with the poss transfer

No hol for us this year until we MOVE. Started on the bathroom this weekend, would really like to be moving in the summer but depends on the blasted market. If the worst comes to the worst we could always rent out the flat and rent somewhere else, but not ideal

DS seems to be settling into this waking at 5am lark (grrr). He did snuggle down with us in bed till 6 this mornign, which was an improvement.

tibsy · 06/05/2008 13:42

gingerninja · 09/05/2008 21:21

Hello all, just a quickie. Back from our hols and had a lovely time. Weather was amazing and we swam, cycled and swung (!) ourselves silly. DD had a ball and we feel like we've been away for ages.

Hi to Tibsy, EP, PW (hope the re-relocation works out. Since having DD I've thought seriously about moving away from the SE just not brave enough!) Meg, glad you had a good holiday too. I think CM is away too so hope she's enjoying herself.

Anyway must dash. take care.

she's still in our room tho, so maybe thats the prob?

hope all well with everyone x

charliemama · 13/05/2008 21:45

Hello all.

No I am not on holiday yet. Us teacher types have to wait for the school holidays and join the hoardes!! (having said that I do get 5 weeks holiday in the summer so I am definitely not complaining!!!!)

I am really enjoying the change in weather, but am getting a bit stressed about the propect of DS1s 5th birthday, which I foolishly agreed he can have at home, and even more foolishly allowed the guest list to reach the dizzying heights of 19!!!!!!!

So to clarify at the beginning of June there will be 19 5 year olds running around my house and garden for 2 hours.

Help!!!!!

gingerninja · 14/05/2008 17:08

CM, you're mad!

Tibsy, we're still getting early mornings. generally about 5-5.30 but have had the occasional 4.45. I really don't think there is anything that can help. I've tried early bedtime, late bedtime. nothing.

I like the sound of a meet up if it's a day I don't work.

we're not getting quite the same good nights as we've been having but teething, eczema, hot weather and recent holiday are playing a part i think.

OP posts:
Amberjee · 15/05/2008 14:51

that sounds crazy CM!

we are having pretty good nights in general, but as ginger says, the hot weather has definitely played some havoc.

am thinking of stopping BFing soon, but am too much of a wimp as yet. don't want to put up with the milk tantrums ... sigh.

don't have any suggestions about the early wakings tibs. if ds wakes before 6, i genearlly give him some milk, chuck him back in the cot, and pray like mad.

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 17/05/2008 21:58

Won't even pretend I've managed to read any of the thread but wanted you guys to know I do think of you often and just am not online so regularly as to post, but I should, no excuse really!

Won't go into detail with sleep, nothing will come as a surprise anyway I guess ... not to you lot!

Hope you're all enjoying blissful slumber and are otherwise well

IARCFB/CSB

MegBusset · 18/05/2008 12:10

Our mornings are getting earlier again, despite 8pm bedtime... was 5.30 this morning, ouch. Brought him into bed for milk but he had definitely decided it was playtime.

In other news: he is now (just about) walking

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 18/05/2008 20:48

OK I have now read some of the thread and wanted to say a huge congrats to you EP - best wishes for the forthcoming months! And ginger, I'm thinking of you and your DH, hope he feels better sometime soon.

tibsy · 19/05/2008 12:26

hi ladies
thanks ginger and amber.... pray like mad sounds like a good suggestion its good to know i'm not the only one getting up at silly-o-clock!!
cm - dear god woman!! i hope they all have a lovely time. what a lovely (if slightly bonkers!!) mummy you are
meg for your walking lo!! look out..
hi iate.. and everyone else

charliemama · 19/05/2008 13:03

Hello all. Big sympathies for all with early starts. DS2 seems to be able to sleep until 6.30 thank God. Once upon a time that would have seemed early, but even DH seems to have got used to it. We try to give each other at least 1 lie in at the weekend. (By lie in I mean until about 8.30-9.00).

I am a very bad mummy and let them watch ceebeebies when it's my morning to get up.

I am in a state of denial about the impending riot and bloodbath party. All will be well!! Actually I do feel calmer since I got up in the middle of the night the other night when I couldn't sleep for worrying and wrote a schedule!!!!!

Yes I can see the irony. My dcs now nearly always sleep through the night, but now I can't!!!

gingerninja · 23/05/2008 13:30

4.30 start today. need i say more? We've also regressed from DD waving and putting herself to sleep to her virtually clinging to us to fall asleep. One new tooth tho so......

Hello everyone, quiet these days isn't it?

Hope the pregnancy is going well EP. Hope your mornings are a little later Tibsy and the party went ok CM.

Meg, been meaning to ask. How is DS's eczema? My DD seems to have had it a lot worse recently. The weather you think? She's doing a lot of itching, especially on the feet.

A big wave to everyone else

PS We had a 7.30 - 6.45 a couple of days ago. Nothing short of a miracle.
