Sleep is for the Weak Reunited

As we're officially not the weakest of other posters on the sleep boards anymore, it's time to move on. So, here is the new home for those of us that have been on SIFTW so long we can't bear to leave and who finally, can think about other stuff to talk about.

So my SIFTW sisters, this is where the kettle is always on and we can talk freely about sleep, no sleep or anything that takes our fancy.

Hello Charlie, DH is doing OK thanks. On medication which seems to be having the desired effect of preventing migraines which were the trigger for his other problems so the longer he is migraine free the better.

Meg, I seriously recommend sex. It worked for me Apparently it has the same effect as a stretch and sweep but (marginally) more pleasureable! However I think both tactics will only work if your cervix is begining to efface from what I've been told. So the simple answer is probably that there isn't much you can do.

Will be thinking of you, the wait is rubbish isn't it?

DD2 sleeps, DD1 total nightmare! Last night had to result to leaving her to it and going in every few minutes to repeat the 'go back to sleep' mantra which triggered a two hour screamathon because DH wouldn't get into bed with her. Awful and I feel very guilty but felt we'd regressed about a year and needed some drastic action. Not sure if I was a little hasty after the arrival of DD2 and should have given her a little more time to adjust. She seemed ok this morning tho. Oh being a parent, why are there no rules......

MegBusset · 27/04/2009 16:09

And we have tried everything, including sex... no joy!

MegBusset · 30/04/2009 17:50

DS2 (Archie) born this morning at 3.52am after 24hr labour (who said second labours were short??). 8lb 15oz but managed with just gas and air. Came back home this afternoon -- DS1 is very impressed and keeps kissing him. Will post some photos later

gingerninja · 30/04/2009 21:23

CONGRATULATIONS, well done Meggy, have been thinking of you since seeing your other thread. Funnily I had Archie as a choice of names this time around and your DS1's name when I was pregnant first time. 8lb 15 isn't a tiny baby is it so well done to you.

Enjoy yourself and get some rest. Glad DS1 is enjoying his wee brother. DD1 actually changed DD2's nappy the other day. Did a pretty good job but she's been practicing for months on her teddies so I shouldn't be suprised.

congratulations meg so pleased for you all. LOVE the name archie.
hugs xx

MegBusset · 22/05/2009 13:11

We must all be very busy with our babies or bumps...

Everything's going well with DS2, he is a good napper so far and not too bad at night (sleeps from 9ish til 7ish with two or three wakings most nights -- I would have given anything to get that from DS1!). But there is still time for it to all go hellishly wrong, so I'm not counting my chickens just yet...

tibsy · 29/05/2009 08:51

hi meg glad to hear things going ok for you lovely. i'm praying for a better sleeper this time too!!! 2 weeks to go for me to find out
hope everyone been enjoying the recent burst of sunshine. we have finally finished ds's cellar bedroom, but have yet to do dd's, so shes still in with us on a mattress on the floor, crossing my legs til shes moved into her own room. ours just aint big enough for 4 of us
hope everyone well

gingerninja · 04/06/2009 11:53

My keyboard is broken, its like typing on an old typewriter so I have to keep it short. You'll never guess what but DD2 slept through the night on SAt. She went from 9.30 to 7.30am I tried to feed her at 5.45 thinking she was awake but she was just snuffling. She has done a few nights of 8.30 to 4 feed then back down to 7 which is also brilliant. I know its too good to be true but I'm enjoying it for the moment. Tibsy, how long now? Meg, glad it's going ok

Congratulations Tibsy

Can't wait to hear all about it.

MegBusset · 23/07/2009 22:55

So... how is everyone?

We're all great. LOVING having two. DS2 is such a happy little soul (in contrast to colicky, refluxy DS1 at that age!). And he will nap in his crib!! All by himself!!!

Doesn't do too badly at night either. EG last night asleep at 8, fed at 12 and 4, awake 7.30am.

Mind you, DS1's sleep didn't go completely tits up until he was about 14 weeks, so there's still time...

gingerninja · 10/08/2009 21:37

Hello Meggy, we are loving having two too. DD2 is an absolute joy to have around and such a hapy little baby. Actually makes me want another! I am adoring the baby stage this time which i didn't at all first time around. DD2 has gone from being a brilliant little sleeper to a nightmare recently. Up half a dozen times a night but even that doesn't seem as bad as first time around. I've made life as easy as possible for myself though by starting off with the cot as a side car so I dont have to get out of bed to feed.

anyways, hope you're all doing well. Tibsy, give us an update.

MegBusset · 21/08/2009 23:25

Hi Ginger How old is DD2 now?

I am enjoying the baby stage so much more, as well. DS2 still wakes a few times a night but a bad night for him (4 wakings) would have been a great night for DS1! He is an absolute joy, just a jolly little fat pudding.

DS1 is being a typical 2.5yo at the moment and quite a handful but still very lovely and so funny now he can talk.

Anyway what am I doing up at this hour?? Must get to bed... hope all you ladies are well...

MegBusset · 21/08/2009 23:25

PS where is Effie??

gingerninja · 23/08/2009 22:19

Hi Meg, wonder if Effie has given up on mumsnet. To be honest, I rarely get on here these days. Most of the threads I've seen over the last few months have turned into a bitch fest and I just can't be bothered. It seems to have grown too big and lost the personal feel, I only come on to check on you guys.

Glad you're enjoying things. DD2 is now 21 weeks and DD1 almost 3! can't quite believe that. DD2's sleep has gone pear shaped, I think it's the feed to sleep thing that I need to tackle but there have been lots of tears the last couple of times I've tried it and I'm not sure I can come with them.

This first 5 months have whizzed by, I can't believe I'll be weaning her in a few weeks, I'm looking forward to it as I think she's getting ready, she is very keen on watching us eat and is feeding practically every hour and I'm struggling to keep up.

DD1 was very very difficult at about the 2.5 - 2.10 stage but has been much better in the last week or so. It's so hard being consistent and positive and rational when you're so tired and have no time to catch up during the day. Wish I'd made the most of it the first time around. anyway it's my bed time now. take care

hi ginger and meg sat nursing ds2 as i'm typing (having a bit of a flashback to dd!!!)
time is just whizzing by, ds1 was 15 in august, dd was 3 and ds2 is 4 mths on the 18th. where does the time go????
ds2 is an absolute delight, much better sleeper than dd, we had a couple of 8.30pm to 3.30ams!!!! didnt know myself!! unfortunately been having a couple of all night boob fests too
ginger and meg, sounds like youre enjoying it with the littlies too aint they cute?!
we've been having a bit of a "challenging" time with dd too, but she seems to be coming out of it thank goodness
hope everyone well and enjoying this lovely autumnal weather? as long as its dry, i'm quite happy
audrey my love, how are you doing?
hi ep, hope you and yor gorgeous boys ok?

MegBusset · 18/10/2009 14:29

Hello all

how is everyone? Has audrey had her baby yet? (can't remember when it was due!)

we're all good... DS2 is nearly 6mo, rolling over, and sleeps through the night as often as not

DS1 otoh wakes up needing tucking in several times a night!
