Of course, I did think of that the other day. His boys are the same ages as my boys. I'll just talk about the children. Phew, that's easy enough.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/01/2008 12:54

Must go shopping now. Think I'll try Zara again.

Berrie · 23/01/2008 12:54

Is DP going to introduce you or expect you to sidle up to him and purr, 'Hi Gord...'

Berrie · 23/01/2008 12:55

Have fun...how come we get a £6 next dress and the PM gets Zara?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/01/2008 12:56

Because the Zara dress will be going back to the shop. Geddit?

Zebedeedoodah · 23/01/2008 14:03

Good planning Lyra.
I'd ask him to give me back all the money he's stolen off me over the years. Either that, or ask him the West Lothian question. That should keep him going for a while.

binkleandflip · 23/01/2008 15:48

girls I am in need of a virtual hug - horrible afternoon - when I went to take the dog out I discovered a dead cat had been placed on my drive Am assuming someone had knocked it down and wanted it off the street. Very upsetting, had to phone enviro health and just as the guy turned up with binbag and gloves the owner (who turned out to live across the street) came across. How awful for them.

Have a horrible sickly feeling in my belly - I had already had quite a jolt with the Heath Ledger news - silly I suppose, but it has really hit a nerve with me - I loved Brokeback Mountain - but I dont think I could watch it again.

Dead at 28...

a nice night tonight Lyra btw - hope your search of Zara is fruitful!!

binkleandflip · 23/01/2008 16:17

I meant 'have a nice night'

Zebedeedoodah · 23/01/2008 16:47

Here's a big hug, a nice cup of tea and a platefull of chocky hobnobs. I hope your evening improves. I kinda know what you mean about Heath Ledger. It's just so shocking because it was so unexpected.

Berrie · 23/01/2008 21:05

Oh sorry Binkle...hugs...things like that can really hit a nerve. Sorry if I sounded flippant about the actor, I don't know who he is and was kind of glad I didn't which is no excuse.

binkleandflip · 23/01/2008 22:21

Thanks for indulging me - I'm being soft I know I went to college tonight and was telling my friend about the cat saga - turns out a woman she works with came back at lunchtime saying she had run over a cat - it was the same one - she also said she had knocked on doors looking for the owner (doubtful..she never knocked on mine but did give me the pleasure of finding the poor creature virtually on my doorstep Obviously accidents happen but she could have at least phoned RSPCA or environmental health (or taken the cat to the vet round the corner), instead it was left up to me.

Told my friend to tell her that this and that the owner(who lived across the road but also didnt get a knock ) was very upset - to shame her for lying about knocking on doors which she clearly didnt.

Anyway, did all I could and so I have to forget today and hope for a nicer day tomorrow. Wonder how Lyra is getting on...no 10 just been on the news live...strange to think our Lyra was in there!!

Hope you feel better today Binkle, what have you got planned?
Lyra what did you chat to the PM about? (can't believe I just wrote that to someone!)
Oggs, how's the weather?
Zeb, what's in your in tray this morning?

LyraSilvertongue · 24/01/2008 08:47

Hello!
Last night was quite fun actually. I did get to chat to the PM, but in a group so there was no pressure to think of something to say. I did tell him I had two boys around the same ages as his (turns out his are 4 and 1 so not that similar in age after all) and talked a bit about China. DP did most of the talking. His wife, Sarah, was there too and i introduced myself but she was a bit unfriendly.
It wasn't nearly as nerve wracking as I thought but then by the time he got round to talking to my group I'd had about 4 glasses of wine.
Chatted to a few famous journos too such as Nick Robinson from the BBC.
I wore this dress which I bought in the Zara sale yesterday for £12.95, so no need to take it back.
Binkle, hope you're feeling better today.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/01/2008 08:54

Number 10 is very grand btw. Lots of chandeliers and gold leaf everywhere. They wouldn't let us look in the cabinet room but we had a mini tour. And the black door is very shiny

Berrie · 24/01/2008 09:05

Nice frock.
Is Nick Robinson nice? He always seems quite fun given his subject.
How did GB come across in person? Lordy he must be tired...

binkleandflip · 24/01/2008 09:06

Cor that dress is gorgeous Lyra!!

OP posts:
Zebedeedoodah · 24/01/2008 09:06

Did you nick any souvenirs Lyra?
Surprised about Sarah Brown - she always seems nice. Maybe she's just shy? Nick Robinson always comes across as a bit of a tit on tv,(not a patch on Andrew Marr!) but I'm sure he's a nice guy too [Zeb covers herself in case is your OH's best friend!].

The in-tray isn't too bad today so far - my newly elevated management position doesn't start until 1st Feb - so I've got a very slight breather, apart from having to muck around with finance stuff. So I'll still be a mere consultant when we all meet next week.

Zebedeedoodah · 24/01/2008 09:07

And I love the dress!

binkleandflip · 24/01/2008 09:11

my plans for today are to probably go for lunch with my mum and then I have the gym at five - that is three days on the trot and I did a dance class on monday Now, if only I could stop eating a load of crap ALL. THE. TIME. - I might just see results

OP posts:
binkleandflip · 24/01/2008 09:12

that is me having a hot, exhausted flush btw

OP posts:
Berrie · 24/01/2008 09:17

I was wondering what the shame was in exercising!

Berrie · 24/01/2008 09:18

Come on then Lyra, Nick Robinson, Tit or fun?

Zebedeedoodah · 24/01/2008 09:22

Sarah Brown - rude or shy?!
Gordon Brown - better looking in the flesh?!
Come on Lyra....

My exercise problem is that I'm trying to find a personal trainer to visit me once a month. You'ld think it wouldn't be that difficult, wouldn't you?!

LyraSilvertongue · 24/01/2008 09:24

Nick Robinson - fun
Sarah Brown - rude imo but maybe shy
GB - much older looking in the flesh. Very bitten down fingernails.
