Here we are!!

OP posts:
Berrie · 27/01/2008 17:27

Hold on need to find out my journey times somehow as it doesn't say on the ticket...

Berrie · 27/01/2008 17:35

Ok I get in at 12.34...similar time to you Oggs. I've already got an all day travel card for Zone 1 and it cost about a fiver. I don't know if Liverpool St Station is in Zone 1 so don't know what you need but it should be quite straight forward.

Berrie · 27/01/2008 18:12

Ok...you're not far away. The Tate is just down the river from Westminster so we'll be able to walk pretty much everywhere we fancy going. It's probably best to meet at the hotel though I could always meet you at Embankment or maybe below Big Ben, we should be able to navigate ourselves there!

Berrie · 27/01/2008 18:13

Am I right in thinking Binkle gets in at 3ish and Lyra 6ish? I'm not sure Zeb has said yet.

oggsfrog · 27/01/2008 18:37

Berrie where did you get your travelcard? I can find an of peak one quoted as £5.30 with an option of collecting it in London, but when I try to buy it's quoting £6+ and only giving delivery options. I presume I'll be able to buy one when I get there, but it's usually cheaper to buy beforehand. I've obviously left it too late to have it delivered.

oggsfrog · 27/01/2008 18:38

Checking in at hotel is from 2pm isn't it?

Berrie · 27/01/2008 18:44

Ah,didn't think about checking in time...I think you can buy one at any ordinary station ticket office. I've done that before...less hectic than the tube station. Really though, it's pretty straightforward even then. It'll be fine. We can get lunch together! What do you fancy?

Berrie · 27/01/2008 18:47

Am badly umming and ahhing about bringing a change of underwear, toothbrush and top etc in a large handbag or a bigger bag and my dress/boots etc for the evening. Tricky tricky tricky...

Zebedeedoodah · 27/01/2008 19:02

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what time I'll get to you, although I plan to leave home by 10am. I then need to drop off the dogs, and expect to be in London by around 4pm. DH is under orders to meet me at the flat, but he's rubbish, so we have to have everything crossed! I'm then meant to meet my sister for a quick drink somewhere around Picadilly and will then come and find you around 6pm. Unless I'm running late, in which case big sis gets the elbow What time does the show actually start? Is it 7pm or 7.30?

Re: the Circle Line Oggs, yes it does go from Liverpool st around to Embankment and takes around 20-30 mins. I've no idea on costs these days, that'll be Lyra's department, but they are both Zone 1.

Berrie · 27/01/2008 19:54

Zeb, I need to e-mail you my mobile number...I've got Oggs too...don't let me forget!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2008 20:25

Not sure about the tube, i haven't used it for ages and they keep hiking the prices up (bloody Ken).
I can be there any time. My mum's got the afternoon off so childcare's sorted. Me and DS2 are gong to a friend's for lunch but I can probably be in town for 3ish.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2008 20:29

Looked it up - a one-day travelcard is £6.70 so that's probably your best bet as you can use it all afternoon to go sightseeing and to get from Liverpool Street, which is in zone 1.

Berrie · 27/01/2008 20:31

Hello Lyra...still there?

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2008 21:49

I'm back! But I'm guessing you've gone to bed by now.
Was discussing with DP what to do about the house conundrum. We've decided to go for the detached if we can get it at the right price. We'd want a detached eventually anyway so we may as well get on with it. Feel a bit sad about leaving my lovely little (slightly impractical) cottage.

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 07:24

Gawd. I really should get myself a map. Haven't a clue where anything is. Haven't really spent any time in London since I was 18.
Thanks Lyra. I didn't expect the tube to take that long. I should be able to buy a travelcard in Liverpool Street Station before I embark on the adventure that will be the tube
Lunch sounds brilliant Berrie. I'll probably be in need of a stiff drink by then .
I keep having to remind myself that it's not the done thing to acknowledge all fellow passengers with a smile or a 'hello'.

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 07:27

Lyra I've just seen the pic of DP on the beach. Pah. That's even worse than my pic. Cheat .

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 07:29

Is he wearing a hat or does he have white hair?

Berrie · 28/01/2008 07:36

I have a map...I will share it with you!

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 07:39

Great!
I've just checked and the tube from Liverpool Street to Embankment should take 15 mins. Where do you come in to?

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 07:41

I'm currently browsing 'how to ride the tube for beginners'

Berrie · 28/01/2008 08:54

St Pancras...

Berrie · 28/01/2008 08:58

Oggs are you going to change for the evening? Say we meet at 1.30, get lunch it will be time to meet Binkle and Lyra...perhaps we should then check in and meet them at the hotel...meet Zeb at 6...I'm thinking we will be a bit short of time for getting changed, and I wouldn't have to bring it either and drag it round London (though methinks that there won't be too much going round London if we have lunch...perhaps we should grab a sandwich...sigh it's all so excitingly complecated) So...what are you doing clothes wise?

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 09:11

Haven't got a bloody clue [gormless emoticon]...sigh

Was going to bring clothes to change into, but as you say there won't be much time as all our meeting-ups are staggered, and we want to make the most of the time together.
I'd even thought I'd have time to wash hair etc before going to theatre, but realise now it would be a lot easier to not have to carry a bag of clothes around with me.

Hmm..... .....

Was going to wear jeans/trousers/top/cardi then change into dress, but I don't really suppose it matters what we wear. It's not like you have to get dressed up to go to theatre anyway...
Could wear trousers etc and just leave them on....
Could wear dress and boots to travel in and just leave them on....

Decisions, decisions......

oggsfrog · 28/01/2008 09:15

I'm currently worrying that I'll get on the tube going in the wrong direction and end up doing a circuit of London. How is travel direction described on the circle line? Normally it's eastbound, northbound etc... How do I make sure I'm going in the right direction? Gah...

Will ponder the clothes question today. Also need to try and get my haircut today.

binkleandflip · 28/01/2008 09:27

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!

Now, are we meeting at the hotel at 3ish then? I need to find somewhere to park and then make my way to the hotel.

Clotheswise - I was going to opt probably for something I can wear for day and theatre - probably just jeans with a change of shoes/top.

Shall I e-mail my mobile number to you all now or are we going to IM later?
