Cardiff / South Wales meet up

OK, there's been various attempts to do something, we're not very good at this meet up business here, are we? Some of us work, some of us don't. Evenings can be tricky to co-ordinate (bit daunting for a first meet up) and daytimes people have different commitments.

I'm often in Roath Park, Cardiff, on a Sunday. Anyone fancy a flask of coffee and a sarnie in the playground one lunchtime? A sort of drop in session - stay as long as you like, scuttle off if it's all too scary. Kids are entertained. Don't need to bring the DHs. No "competitive mother" picnics allowed

Would this work?

Or have I missed the really big meet up you all organised????

Peaches,
I'd love to meet up sometime...I am often in Roath Park with my two dc!

nappyaddict · 15/11/2007 12:37

sorry for the hijack but i am visiting cardiff in a week (used to live there) but am coming by train and was wondering if anyone had a high chair or car seat i could borrow for 3 days?

PeachesMcLean · 15/11/2007 14:01

Thanks Jofeb! (things you do after a glass of wine ) Bumping for any more...

Hi nappyaddict. I can lend you one of those booster seats with a back on it if that helps? Can't remember what age it's appropriate from though. email me on peaches dot mclean at googlemail dot com if you want. Don't have a high chair though sorry.

does it have its own harness or do you have to use the proper seatbelt with it?? if it comes with its own harness that would be ok, but if it has to be used with the seatbelt i think its too old for him cos he's only 17 months.

PeachesMcLean · 15/11/2007 21:10

Aaah, fair enough. It's a proper seat belt type. Sorry DS is 6 now and I can't remember what they're supposed to have when. It's all so long ago

Have a great time in Cardiff though. Got anything good planned?

Hi PeachesMcLean,
Would love to come but have things on (sunday) for the next 2 weeks. Actually I was in roath park on saturday (just gone) with dh and little one.
If you don't mind though I will e-mail you direct and maybe you can let me know if you will be there in a few weeks time?

Overrun · 19/11/2007 14:20

Hi Peaches, I could meet you there. We are often in Roath Park, but would probably want to bring my dh, as dts are 3 and every where and 4 yr old is very clingy at the moment, so I find Roath a bit difficult.
What sort of time are you thinking? If its cold we could go to the Consevatory as well. Or even have a coffee in the cafe, unless it is closed on a Sunday?

PeachesMcLean · 19/11/2007 22:15

Fantastic! So, Overrun, LaraCroft (always good to have some celebrity input ) and JoFeb. Well as it turns out I can't do this Sunday either and the weather's crap anyway. Lara can't do the following week, so let's aim for Sunday 9th December? Say 2.30pm onwards? Will that work? Not compulsory attendance - I know things can change last minute, but I'll be there as it's good to get some fresh air and let DS run off some steam. Probably tricky to do lunchtimes tbh if babies are having naps and children need to eat properly? If it's really chucking it down like now, we'd probably have to cancel, unless anyone comes up with an alternative (playcentre?) but with any luck it will be a lovely sunny frosty day. Cafe closes Jan and Feb - or at least used to, so we should be ok.

How does that sound? I don't really mean you can't bring DHs, 3 under 5 sounds like hard work! I'll be there with my flask and a squashed satsuma (as ever!)

Anyone else?

(NB I really don't like organising things so please don't think I'm trying to be in charge!)

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 23:51

peaches i will be in cardiff on saturday 1st december.

Overrun · 21/11/2007 12:21

I am happy to do the 9th, I was a bit worried about doing it this Sunday a) because of the weather and b) we are going to a party on Saturday night, a rare event indeed. I am thinking if I'm not hungover which is a distinct possibility then I will be tired!

I will put it in the calender, but it would be good to have a reminder on this thread in the week prior, as my brain is like a sieve

LaraCroft · 23/11/2007 15:32

Hi Peaches,
Sounds good to me I have made a note in my diary. Hope the weather is good. Look forward to meeting you all.

SheepishPeachesMcLean · 24/11/2007 15:00

That's great! Anyone else care to join us???

NA - We've now got ANOTHER birthay party that afternoon. Sorry. Did you get your car seat sorted?

SheepishPeachesMcLean · 24/11/2007 15:05

We'll have to arrange something so we know who we are in the playground - carrying a fruitshoot and a greggs sausage roll perhaps

LaraCroft · 25/11/2007 21:35

Actually I thought I would turn up in a wetsuit (as Lara in the Cradle of Life) so you would know who I was! ..........only joking!

SheepishPeachesMcLean · 26/11/2007 09:40

ROFL!

Let's just hope the weather's good or we'll all be wearing them.

Overrun · 26/11/2007 15:51

well I will be the harassed looking woman chasing after three very fast boys!

nappyaddict · 27/11/2007 01:47

no peaches didn't manage to sort it. the seat you mention is suitable from 15kg which is 33lb and ds is 30lb. do you think that would be ok?

SheepishPeachesMcLean · 27/11/2007 18:02

Wouldn't like to say. That's a whole new thread I think. "AIBU to borrow a seat that DS is a smidgen too small for?" Think it depends on height too.
You're in Cardiff now, aren't you? Have you got MN access here? Hope so. If you want it, you're welcome. Where are you staying? I can drop it off if you want. My email addy is below (haven't worked out CATing yet)
