MrsRecycle · 08/11/2007 11:19

Great Sushi - a bit bruised but optimistic. Looking forward to this weekend - they have an Adult party at the caravan site and its 1940s based. How are you?

ChippyMinton · 08/11/2007 11:49

Hello everyone. Apologies for crashing your thread, but I am looking for anyone who might be going to the xmas party from this neck of the woods. I'm going in from Ashford on the train into Waterloo, but a bit nervous of coming back on my own. Wondered if anyone else was in the same boat? Thanks
ChippyM

ChippyMinton · 08/11/2007 11:50

that's ashford, middlesex (in case you thought i was geographically challenged LOL)

GloriaInEleusis · 08/11/2007 12:45

I'm not too far from you (Sunbury), but I'm not coming home . If I'm going to wake up with a hangover, I prefer to do it where there won't be two small children in the house. So it's a hotel for me.

Speaking of which, COV, are you joining me. I've sent you a couple of e-mails and typed it on here. Need to procure this hotel room ASAP.

fitfox · 08/11/2007 12:48

Hiya

Paddle yes he was - very

Steppy - he is also teaching your son today , my DS1 also starts his lessons today but with a different tutor at the same venue. The only thing that went wrong at my lessons was that I didn't have the 20p piece for the hairdryer so travelled home with soaking hair in the cold. The lesson was excellent and I felt I made progress. The other student was lovely and we gelled immediately but she may not be there next week as she can already swim so it was too basic for her (or rather I held her back LOL). Steppy if you want to join next week, they are really laid back and you can join anytime I think.

Chippy from Ashford - sorry I ain't going to the party

MrsR - have a lovely time at the 40's party. Keep us updated on the test results wontcha?

sfx - thanks - cam't wait for my new "Illusion"/"slimming" cossie to arrive (they didn't "escape" BTW)

fitfox · 08/11/2007 12:50

Ele CoV hasn't been very well

ChippyMinton · 08/11/2007 13:04

that sound like a good plan eleusis. I'll keep an eye out for you at the party

GloriaInEleusis · 08/11/2007 13:24

Still?? Oh, I thought she was better now. Though I obviously haven't read much of this thread lately. oops, hope she doesn't think I'm being rude.

SJ99 · 08/11/2007 13:46

Ah found you, gets me every time

Glad swim went swimmingly well Foxie

QC - I think the woman said it would be £33 for rest of term, you can always do a free trial first to see if DS would like it. If not, footy class it is!

SFX - I am a bit of a sci-fi fan I did enjoy last night's Heroes, did you?

Went to visit another preschool today. It wasn't as organised as the last place we saw but I did prefer it some ways - people were friendlier, loads more activities and they encourgaed them to play outdoors. Plus ratio of 4:1 for carers:kids soudned pretty good.

SJ99 · 08/11/2007 13:56

Ds was sick in his cot last night but didn't cry out or anything so I only saw it this morning, his room stank. He had a vccination yesterday and they did warn that sickness was a possbile side efect, but the most alarming part was that it was bright yellow

Kewcumber · 08/11/2007 14:02

Paddle - my mum has a very nice man with a van lives in her (and steppies) road. I'm waiting for her to get his phone number for you.

MrsRecycle · 08/11/2007 14:17

Hi Chippy - I live in Ruislip and dh is giving me a lift back afterwards - I've plenty of space in the car if you want to get a taxi from Ruislip.

foxie - glad swimming went well - I only learnt to swim when I was 16 (and still not brilliant) so I was adamant dds could swim as soon as they could. dd2 is now a complete fish and would rather swim under water than above it (my little mermaid). It was so nice going on holiday knowing that dds could jump in the pool at anytime and not drown.

sj - sorry to hear about ds - its awful when you realise you've missed it isn't it? ds was violently ill on holiday and I spent the whole night by his cot mopping it up. And then right at the end of the hols I realised I should have brought his medicine so went to the pharmacy and brought some. So if it gets too bad, ask for Motilium (or Don Peperion as I call it!!) at the chemist - ds was prescribed it from Great ormond Street Hospital from the age of 4 months so safe to use.

I'm going back to Kew Chippy, if thats any good to you...

sfxmum · 08/11/2007 14:27

SJ you are a calmer mum than me hope ds feels better soon.
re sci fi am out and proud and huge fun of BSG can't wait for next series. not following heroes on 2 watched it earlier in the year.

last night sh told dd to tidy up the building blocks before going in the bath and she said
'no need to panic daddy' PMSL

SJ99 · 08/11/2007 14:33

DS seems happy playing & chatting today despite sickness but hasn't eaten much. Will just keep an eye on him.

Thanks for tip Mrs R, always handy to know about a product that actually works.

Sorry Chippy, not going to the party

SJ99 · 08/11/2007 14:34

stepfordwife · 08/11/2007 14:56

stepfordwife · 08/11/2007 14:56

sj..hope ds better today

ComeOVeneer · 08/11/2007 16:07

Hi all. Have spent the day trying to make a traditional Indian outfit for dd for school tomorrow. Have managed a tunic top with pj trousers underneath and will try to artistically drap a sarong of mine around her shoulders. No doubt she won't be very impressed, but with 1 days notice it will have to do. A bit like the one days notice she gave me about the birthday party last night . Ele, sorry I haven't got back to you re the hotel. Just pick the one you want and book it.

ChippyMinton · 08/11/2007 20:14

Thanks kewcumber and Mrs Recycle. I have just arranged for the lovely Slubberdegullion to stay chez moi after the xmas party, so will not be travelling alone. MrsRecycle - your offer was very generous, thank you. Would you have room for two, and what time are you intending to return? (i used to live in Ruislip btw )

fitfox · 08/11/2007 20:52

PMSL Steppy at chippy supper

My DS1 had his lesson during school time - was your DS1's lesson at 6.15pm then?

I think the class I go to is the right one for you (improvers)- but I should really be in the earlier one (beginners). For some reason they put me in the wrong one (possible connected to the fact that I lied, very slightly, and said I can swim )

If you did waNT TO COME i COULD DO THE EARLY NE AND YOU THE LATER oNE BUT WE COULD BOTH STAY FOR ONE HOUR (THE ClASSES RUN ONE AFTER ANOTHER AND EACH IS only 30 MINUTES). You can stay in the pool a long as you like IYKWIM

sorry didn't mean to shout

right off to bid on bay see you all later [wink

fitfox · 08/11/2007 20:55

MRSR you just about summed up in your post why I want to learn actually at my ripe old age. Its wierd as I am super confident about many things, then last night in the pool felt like a real "learner" again - quite nice in some ways

sorry am being a bore "me me me me me blah blah"
