My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

glad I can provide you all with a tiny bit of amusement!

How come ds is waking up earlier and earlier each day? On the day of the clocks going back he woke up at what would have been his usual time but each day he's been waking up earlier! Today it was 6am which isn't even close to being civilised in my book!

Cov & miniSushi - hope you get better soon

SJ99 · 02/11/2007 15:05

Glad you found a colour that you like Ros, LOL!

Get better soon Cov and mini Sushi

We started swimming lessons today and they were excellent. DS loved it, was laughing his head off and did all the tasks which was good.

Have found a local firworks display here Thinking of going this evening if anyone fancies it.

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 15:41

hi everyone

despite lack of planning I had a few lovely hrs at Kew walking all over from brentford gate to badger set the back to vicky gate Fantastic! thankfully avoided C&C

really warm for November as confirmed by every pensioner dd spoke to

SJ99 · 02/11/2007 15:48

I agree weather is beautiful atm and autumn leaves are so colourful, makes up for wet summer

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 16:06

SJ have you got your Kew membership sorted yet?
it was lovely, some of the yellows around the Pagoda are just so astonishingly bright, I fell privileged looking at all of that.

fireworks can't tonight but will look for something over the weekend.

also regarding book swaps meet ups should we think of something I still have books belonging to foxie and Ros I think it has been a year now.

dd has gone all girly as we were talking about her decorating her bedroom she requested pinknot on your nelly no pink rooms in my house

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:27

Does anyone know of toddler-friendly (i.e. not too late, not lasting too long) fireworks on tomorrow evening?

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 16:37

I believe we all waiting on foxie she did say she knew of such an event

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:41

But for Foxies she was going to have to get tickets from the school... and given it's after school-chucking-out-time on a Friday I am more or less assuming that they won't materialise...

So in order to assuage the huge pangs of anguish and trauma that I am now suffering I am casting about for an alternative. We used to go to Battersea Park pre-children, but it's rather big and I think I'd lose DS there.

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 16:45

yes good point, going from experience of last year I bet anywhere slightly elevated around Richmond should provide a view of fireworks they seem to do it at the slightest provocation

have been really bad about planning that think there is an email from netmums somewhere in my inbox with local details will see if still have it

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:53

Hmm... apparently Kingston, Wimbledon Park and Clapham Common tonight, Battersea Park tomorrow. This eveniong's sound quite good, but I'm just not psyched up for it right now... I was planning on another 24 hours to get myself in a pyromanaical mood.

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 16:53

silly me they had a link for tickets to the display foxie was on about really should have checked carefully, shame really has there is a BBQ and bonfire all starting at 6.45

must keep looking

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:58

Another one tonight, in Fulham -- sound good but a bit late for DS, I think.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:59

Ravenscourt Park, tomorrow -- sounds more promising.

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 17:02

Ravenscourt sounds ideal I saw the funfair from the train a few days ago, just a few stops on dd's beloved tube train - thanks

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 17:03

Richmond Athletic Ground on Sunday -- much more expensive, but earlier in the evening. I think I may have found my winner...

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 17:08

sounds good too will discuss with dh have a feeling something with funfair might win

Hog roast?!!!

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 17:12

Heck, I could do either... or both...

Anyone else on here up for either Ravenscourt Park or Richmond Athletic Ground? We could have a mini-meetup!

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 02/11/2007 17:12

Hi

sorry everyone - no news of Christ's display but the one which is very popular for tomorrow is:

7pm (arrive a bit early)
The Vineyard School
Friars Stile Road
Richmond Hill

Entrance about £2 kids, £5 adults

Lots of kids stalls and great display. Our CM is going to that one an says its the best on for young kids.

We'll probably go to this one. Anyone else fancy joining us? > we can also mosey onto Richmond Hill and get a great view of fireworks across London (convenientlyclose to Roebuck pub ) on the way out maybe

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 17:15

Yes, I'd be happy with the Vineyard one too (can you pay at the door?). I'm flighty, me...

sfxmum · 02/11/2007 17:39

this sounds promising nothing like a last minute scramble for wholesome family fun

rosmerta · 02/11/2007 17:49

I'm going to miss out , but tbh 7pm is a bit late for ds this year so probably aim for one next year.

Pre-ds we used to go to the Ravenscourt park one and it is very good but very big. I remember a mum asking us to take her ds onto the waltzers as she hated them!

Sfx, funny you mentioned the book swap meet, I was just rooting around in the cellar and found foxie's and paddle's books

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 17:51

Richmond Athletic Ground is earlier... fireworks at 6.15...

rosmerta · 02/11/2007 17:52

thanks lemonaid, that would've been good actually, ds could've skipped his bath but I'm going to be in Wakefield anyway!

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 02/11/2007 17:52

Oh yes, pay on the door and that's why you need to arrive a bit early as it sells out [wink

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 17:53

How early would you suggest?
